Re: Is Blesi perhaps Blaesi / Bläsi [Umlaut a] emigrating Gondelsheim, Baden, Germany

Good information. I have this as well. I'm a bit new at this and having difficulty tracking my Blesi linage back to Ludwig. I have the records from the Landesarcheive in Glarus for my line as I was there a few months ago, however there seems to be some inconsistencies in their records. They show Ludwig and then Rudolf who was his son. From there I can't tell if Rudolf had one, two or three sons. It appears two, one Fridli, and one Fridolin, but they could be the same person as Fridli could be an abbreviation for Fridolin, and yet one is listed as Fridli I. and the other Frodlin 3. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. My line reflects Fridli I to Melchoir 5, to Hans Melchoir 22, to Gabriel 39, to Hans Rudolf 69, Gabriel 91, Henry 287. Thank you...

The Blesi are an old family of Canton of Glarus, named in documents of the 16th Century. The name is an abbreviation of a call name of Blasius. Perhaps the first settlers are immigrated from Canton of Grisons. The first known man was Ludwig Blesi in the time of reformation 1528. Later he was Landvogt or govenor at Gaster. The family settled in the communities of Sool and Schwanden in Canton of Glarus.

My grandfather, Martin Blaesi, was born in Kaiserslautern, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany (I THINK). His parents were Martin Bläsi and Katharina Swissgable. He emigrated to the US in early adulthood, where he married Susanna Harvey Lackie. Any possible info. about this family would be appreciated!

Re: Missing Great Uncle

This sounds like it could be my father's "Uncle Rudy" who lived with Aunt Anna in rural Iowa. We used to stop by and see them on family vacations (from Los Angeles) when I was a child. I recall that Uncle Rudy had a gas pump out by the road. The name Anna Shank is very familiar to me.

It isn't hard to find,

On the first page look for Moore Cemetery under Tarrant County and Tarrant County is under TEXAS. Click on the B in the alphabet for Moore and on the 2nd page you should be able to find BLESI because the listing is alphabetical.

Clicking on the BLESI on the second page, should take you right to the picture.

See hat wasn't so hard to navigate the over 44,000 pictures on the site. ( http://teafor2.com )

Note that I have finished photographing the Moore Cemetery and should have all the pictures online within a week.

The graves in the picture are my mother's brother, John Earl Blesi, and his wife Elsie. I will try to find the picture in the source you mentioned, but would appreciate your sending it directly to me if possible.
Looking for information on dear friend of my grandmother's. "Aunt" Margaret was born in 1905, never married, but raised her sister's children when sister and husband were killed in airplane crash in "1930s". I believe crash was on East Coast somewhere. Aunt Margaret lived in Minneapolis at least from early 1950s to her death in 1982.

Missing Great Uncle

I am searching for a Randolph {Rudolf}Blesi who was born on Dec.30,1846 who came to MN> in 1860 and married Anna Shank on 1 March 1869. They left MN. in 1875 for California and they was supposed to have a chicken farm. The last letter of communication was to his nephew in Minneapolis,MN in 1926. It is not known wheather he actually got to CAl. on not or if they had any children or when thet died or are burried. It has been a hopeless task to find them on any computer family searches. Hope to find someone who may have some info on this family. Sincerely, Wayne C. Blesi
