Arnold Blevins

Arnold Blevins, 79, of Daniels, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2009, with his family at his side.

He was born at Lashmeet, WV., to the late Clarence and Macie Blevins. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Laura Blanche Blevins.

His devotion to his Christian faith and dedication to his church and family were central to his life. He loved gospel and bluegrass music and was a friend to many local musicians. He was a builder and woodworker and was known throughout the area for his craftsmanship. He was a member of long standing at Daniels Missionary Baptist Church and was the director of their Senior Adult Ministry for many years.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 30 years, Reba; one brother, Robert, of Portland, Ore.; two sisters, Dorothy (Vincent) Crawford and Daphne (Jerry) Vandiver, both of Toledo, Ohio; his sons, Mark (Darla) of Cheshire, Conn., Eddie Clark of Daniels, Calvin Moye (Debbie) of Ft. Smith, Ark.; his daughters, Phyllis (Buddy) Farley of Glen Morgan, Mary Beth (Troy) Jarrell of Cool Ridge, and Martha (Chris) Radcliff of Sophia; 12 grandchildren, Jennifer Blevins of Pittsburgh, Pa., Lindsay and Christina Blevins of Cheshire, Conn., Vickie Granger of Salem, Va., Lisa Long of Mineral, Va., and Joey Clark of Richmond, Va., NaLisa Brown of Clarksville, Ark., Curtis Farley of Austin, Texas, Scott Jarrell of Lakeland, Fla., and Sarah Jarrell of Lorain, Ohio, John Ball and Drew Ball of Beckley; eight great-grandchildren, Justin Granger of Salem, Va., Savannah and Danielle Long of Mineral, Va., Katherine and Meagan Clark of Richmond, Va.; Abby and Destiny Ball of Beckley; Nic, Zeac and Alec Brown of Clarksville, Ark.

Visitation will be at Daniels Missionary Baptist Church from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2009. The funeral will follow the visitation at 11 a.m. and be officiated by Pastor Jack Thomas. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Beckley.
