Re: BLIND Family from Dortmund, Ruhr Valley, Germany

Hello
My family originally came from the town of Blindheim on the Danube. My branch of the family are descendants of the Rudolf Blind the artist and activist. They moved from Germany to England some time after the revolution against the Kaiser. I am not sure how far we go back but the lineage was traced back to the 800's. So far this is what we know.
In Blindheim on the Donau set a Dam-Fishery Estate that was called Blendheim-Blindheim-Von Blindheim noted from the records in Newburg on the Donau.
Former name spelling (ca 800) Blint, Blinheim, Blintheim, Plintheim, Blindhaim, Haus of Blindthammer Anna ca 1580 in Trostberg Anton DeBlindheim, nobel Bavarians ca 1786 in Munich.
Ancestors of Baitzes van Blindheim were Turlacher Lords of Turlach De Blindheim, ca 1259, Utrich Ritter von Plintheim ca 1300, Hans Bruno Edler von Blintheim, Elder of the Hochstaedt 1443.
So far we have the Family crest of the blinds with an explanation for all that is on the crest. If you have any more information please send it to me. I would like to here from you at some time.
Frank Blind PGA

I have a Conrad Blind born in Wurttemberg, Germany according to census records. He moved to Pittsburgh, PA in 1864 I believe. He married an Elizabeth Chininger also of German descent. Her family was in the florist industry and Conrad joined the family business. He died in Pittsburgh in 1928. I know nothing about his parents or if he had any siblings.

I have a Margaretha Blind b. in Germany in 1834 who came to US with her husband, Peter Wiedenkofer, in 1858. Her sister, Phillipinna (Josephine) Blind also came to US with her husband, Jacob Shafer. Both girls settled in Adair Co.,Mo. They had other Family living on the East Coast back then. Maybe we are related. I don't know exactly, but I found Margaretha & Phillipinna in LDS Library as being born in Denweiler,Pfalz, Bayern Germany to Nikel Blind & Caroline Theiss. Both girls are buried in Adair Co.,Mo.
