Here is a real mystery to me. My mother had left me some family info when she died and it had the name George Bliss, 1793-1873. She noted that perhaps he was the father of Amos Goodwin Bliss, who is my Great Grandfather. I have run into a stone wall when it comes to finding any solid info on my Bliss line.
Amos Goodwin Bliss died on January 1, 1891 in Hartley, O'Brien County,Iowa at an age of about 65. He served somewhere in the Union Army in the Civil War. He was married to Josephine Hannah Shepard Bliss who was born January 16, 1848 in Reedsburg, Wisconsin and died on March 31, 1889 in Iowa. They both are buried in Sutherland,O'Brien County,Iowa.His mother was Hannah Collins Bliss. That is all the info I have been able to gather. Can anyone help me find Amos Goodwin Bliss' father and who George Bliss may be? Thanks very much!
