We also have Aarons father James Chism b.1818 married to a Ellender Lee and looking for any information and documentation on James, Ellender Lee, Aaron, and Ellender Blitch. My line actually comes through George Washington Chism, Aaron's youngest brother. Any information, photographs would be appreciated.

I have an Ann "Min" Blitch that married a William Henry Hodges and she was born 1780 in Effingham, Georgia. Would she tie into your Blitch line? I have her father as Abraham Blitch and no mother listed.

Ellender is buried at North Prong as Ellender Chism. I do not have a photo of her tombstone yet so the spelling of her name may be different. She was born in 1831 to James & Mahala (Tyson) Blitch. She died 12 Apr 1875. First married Wm Sterling Fish in 1847 in Marion County FL and second Aaron Chism. Wm & Ellender had 4 children according to my info. Aaron & Ellender had Robert. There are several men named Chism buried in North Prong that have headstones, but none named Aaron. Perhaps someone has a cemetery survey book done years ago that would hold more info.

BLITCH REUNION 2009

Dear Family:

Travel seems to be a major issue when it comes to getting together to plan for the Blitch Family Reunion. It's understandable that there are those who live in other states and that getting to Georgia for a planning meeting is kind of difficult. With gas the way it is these
days, I can totally understand. However, when I put together a date and place for our first meeting, I tried to ensure that participation would be abundant. But, I was proven wrong... when even trying to
place the meeting in a city such as Atlanta where we'd all have to travel (instead of everyone traveling to me or to someone else, etc). So, the next step I believe I should take is the following....

We can meet together still on June 21st, but instead we'll make this an "online meeting." I have found us a meeting place online and it's in a "chatroom" format.

The site is

http://www.chatzy.com/518415555191 and I'm sure we'll all find it user friendly and appropriate for our needs. I believe a time that would be most beneficial for complete participation is around 7 p.m. EST. Please, speak up if you believe this time is not going to work for you! I cannot plan this meeting by myself, nor with only Jimmy's help. If we have it in our minds that the participation we are willing to put forth is attending the reunion and that is all, then this reunion will never be. Please, go to the site listed above and sign up so you can participate in this meeting. This isn't much to ask. No charge! Only a little time together to figure some things out.

Also, I have sent out over 150 snail mail letter about the reunion and invites to join the group. These letters were only sent to people with the last name of BLITCH. If you have any others drop me an email with the names and I will send them a letter also. As I stated above I can not do this all by myself. I have had several letters or emails
come back as unknown or no forwarding address. Please help me in getting more people interested in our group... without the help of each and every single one of you, we will get nowhere; and I'm hoping that we go far!

Thank you all for your understanding.
Janet L.
Ok I am a BLITCH family memeber and have been researching the BLITCH FAMILY for about 15 yrs now and I have this web site with lots of information. If there is something not on here that you need an answer to just drop me a note and I will see if I have it in one of my many books that I have not got on the site yet. As anyone knows there is never an end to research on the family history...So this site will always be under construction...And do remember I am not perfect so there may be some mistakes. But do understand I have not been in this alone there have been several people to add and send me stuff. I recieved a package from Cher back in May and I am now getting around to scanning the pictures and stuff to put on the site....
Mark it and keep checking for any updates.
Thank you
Janet Blitch
http://theblitchfamily.mysite.com/

Thanks Sylvia for the information.

Did the info you found about Mary in Baker County specifically relate her to Wright? The reason I mention this is that I seem to remember another Kersey in the next generation of Kerseys also being married to a Mary in the Baker County/South Georgia area. I'll have to look at my notes on that.

As for the shooting, I guess anything's possible. It could have been Wright. I wouldn't be surprised if it was him. What year did it say he was shot? I may be able to find something more about the incident.

I also found them in 1860 census in the Traders Hill area of Charlton County, but have been unable to verify where Wright died and is buried. I've dug thru online cemetary records in that area but have had no luck. Any help on that would be great. The census had them listed as Kinsey.

Thanks again for the info. I'll keep digging. Please keep me updated and I'll do the same. Happy hunting!

Vickie, From some info I found in Baker Co. it states that Mary was possibly a Bird. It also stated that a Kersey was shot near the Altamaha River in Ga. After I found Wright and Mary in 1860 in Charlton. Co. GA. I wonder if he was the unlicky Kersey.

Hi Sylvia, We've corresponded before, but I didn't realize that you are related to me thru General Morgan Kersey and Sarah Ann Garrett. Sarah was Morgan's first wife and died in the yellow fever epidemic of 1888 and is buried in Baker County Florida. He then married Darcus Norman of Bradford County Florida in the early 1890s and had several more children with her. General Morgan is my Great Grandfather. His son General Lee Kersey is my Grandfather and his son Robert Cecil Kersey is my father. All three are buried in Dyal Cemetary in Bradford County Florida where I grew up.

I'm still looking for information on General Morgan's father Wright and mother Mary. Any new clues you can share?

I hope to hear from you soon!

Vickie Kersey DuBois
