Hello i saw this thread and thought I would give it a shot. I was wondering if anyone has any of these Blizzards on your records. Henry (or Harry..hard to read on the marriage certificate) married to an Elizabeth. They had a son Oliver Frederick, born 1871 in Belleisle, Kings Co New Brunswick and married Sadie Jordan of Lakeville Corner. had a son named Percy Blizzard in 1908. I can not find anymore information in the NB archives and would like to find out something more than what I have as it is my family name. Any information would be great! Thanks

Blizzard/Cherokee connection

Does anyone know of any ties between any Blizzard family lines and the Cherokee. My family lore says that we have Cherokee hertiage out of the Blizzard side, but we have no links to tell us that. Anyone know anything about Blizzard Cherokees?

I have a Elijah Blizzard born 1812. In the LDS IGI it has Elijah son of Wesley Blizzard and Tirzah Claypole. But I have seen a book about this Blizzard family in the Salt Lake City LDS Family History library. It tells about this family and lists Wesley Blizzard's will and the children. It does not mention Elijah as a child. Does anyone have info on this Blizzard family?

I am a Blizzard in Australia (which is quite uncommon for both the name and the weather!) and I am starting to research my Blizzard family here. I currently have contacts for lots of info on ancestors who came from the UK to Australia, however, since coming on to this website, I can see Blizzard has many connections in the USA also.
I am wondering if anyone can possibly give me information on Blizzards who came over from the UK to the USA - I would really like to discover any links between the Australian and US Blizzards.

If you have any names of people who emigrated back in the 1700's (I guess that's when it would have been, seeing a number of US Blizzards being born during the 1700's)I would love to hear from you. Thanks!!

Mr. Blizzard was born February 9, 1939 in Blatimore, MD to the late Robert Earl Blizzard, Sr. & Lucy Frances Bliss Blizzard Cates. He died on Monday, June 19, 2006 in the VA Hospital at Little Rock, AR. He resided in Shirley, AR since 1990 & was a retired welder. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a member of the Shirley Community Church.
His wife, Kathy Trainor Blizzard died in 1990. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Ben Cates; a brother, Leonard Cates; and two sisters, Lilly Harmon and Fay Reece.
He is survived by two sons, Robert R. Blizzard, Jr. (Brenda), of New Hampshire and Charles Dow Blizzard (Julie) of Massachussetts; one brother, David Cates of Shirley; four sisters, Oleeta McElroy of Clinton, Helen Blizzard Johnson of New York, Marcia Girdler (Rod), of Conway, and Virginia Cates of Little Rock, and six grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Saturday, June 24, 2006 at the Shirley Community Church with Pastor Bobby Ward & Pastor Harry Mann officiating. Arrangements were by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.

Looking for anyone who might have information on a Blizzard who came to the Holmes/Coshocton Co. area of Ohio, possibly from Maryland or West Virginia. George W. was born 19 Sept. 1838 in this area. His wife was Anna Wagers, dau. of William and Nancy (Caple) Wagers. Her parents were born in Maryland. George and Anna had three children: William, John and Lewis. I am trying to find info on Hezzekiah Blizzard, born about 1761 in Bertie NC. Would like to connect him to Keziah Blizzard b. 1789 NC. married Jan. 18, 1803 in Duplin Co., NC to Jonathan Nickens b. 1799 NC. Solomon Carter was the bondsman for them.
Can't find a lot on Hezekiah except he was born. Who was he married to? where did he live? what did he do for a living?

I am looking for information on Gabriel Blizzard. He wa shown on an early census (late 1800's) to reside in Bladen County, North Carolina. It is believed that Gabriel might have been married more than once. It's possible one of his children resided in Georgia during the late 1800's as well, his son William Blizzard. One of his other sons, Pierce, lived around the same area in North Carolina. Pierce is my Great Grandfather. It is also believed that Pierce might have been married more than once as well. The wife mentioned on my Grandfathers Death Certificate was named Mary, and she was from possibly North Dakota because the state box on the certificate was maked "DK". I do have fairly accurate dateson some of these people, but will provide them if I get a response. If anyone has information, it would be much appreciated. I was born in Manhattan, NYC, Nov.3,1948 -- was adopted shortly after my birth with the assistance of Drs.Newhouse and Pearlroth and attorney, unknown. My birth parents were not married, mother was an unemployed concessionare and father was a seaman. I had a brother and sister at time of my birth, ages 2 and 4.

My adoptive mother recently told me that my birth mother had been shot and killed for being unfaithful. I don't know if she was killed by a husband, boyfriend or by my birthfather. I am guessing that this occured either in the late 40's or 50's.

I may never know my birth parents, but I have a strong desire to learn of my siblings, especially for reasons of medical history.

Please contact me if you have any female relatives that would have died as result of a gunshot injury. Since my adopted parents lived in Manhattan, NYC - my feeling is that may have occurred in NY city as well.

Maryland Blizzard's - My great-grandfather was the son of Peter and Eliza Jane. As far as I know Peter Albert Blizzard was born November 22, 1837 and married Eliza Jane Martin on March 28, 1863. Peter died August 27, 1910. Eliza Jane was born May 15, 1838 and died December 18, 1880. I cannot get beyond this couple. Washington must have died before 1840 as Mary Ann Blizard shows up as single parent on 1840 Parke Co Ind census. She remarried; Johnson Webster, in 1841.

I am looking for any information on Thursday Blizzard and Preston Robinson. Thursday (possible nickname) was married to Preston Robinson. They had several children: Laun L. (a/k/a Lonnie, Robert and other names) born 1899 to 1901 (He used different dates on different documents), Charles I. (born appro. 1903), Grace (born appro. 1897), Louie and Preston born appro. 1897(who married a woman named Della.)

Thursday Blizzard's parents were Charles Blizzard (born appro. 1832; died 2 Dec 1901 in Smyth County, VA) and Sarah Foster (born appro. 1845 in Wythe County, VA).

I cannot find any information on Thursday or her husband Preston Robinson.

In a 1910 census for Smyth County, the children are living with their grandmother Sarah Foster Blizzard, along with her son George W. Blizzard (born appro. 1886)

Oral history states they were from an area of Smithfield VA called Battery Park. They had about 4 children, their first was in 1865 a son, Willis, later were James, Charles, Liza, Their first son Willis married a cherokee indian/black woman named Parthenia. Together they may have lived and worked on The Chip Oats Plantation in Surry County. It's been a year since I posted to the board looking for information on my g-grandfather Charles Taylor Blizzard. I now know that his parents were Daniel and Sarah Blizzard. Daniel was born in North Carolina c1823, and married Sarah who was born in South Carolina c1825. They married c1843. He has one known brother, Henry, b. North Carolina c1821. S. R. BIZZARD of 2612 Holmes street signed a death certificate Monday
and was arrested on complaint of the clerk of the Board of Health for
practicing medicine without a license. In the Police court yesterday,
BLIZZARD pleaded with Judge JONES to not impose a fine on him.

"I am unable to pay a fine," he said, "and I do not feel physically able to
withstand imprisonment in the Work-house."

BLIZZARD is an old man. He has long white hair. Judge JONES told
him to take out a physician's license and the case against him would be
dismissed.
