I am researching my husband's family of Block. They were not of Jewish descent, but they lived on Bingham Avenue in the Carondelet section of St. Louis, along Grand Ave. The original owner would have been Henry Block. I have yet to verify, but from what I have seen so far, this stretch of land belonged to John Bingham. I believe there is a connection between Hymen Block and Virginia Bingham and my side of the Block family. We are talking the period of approx. 1855. I am at a brick wall and cannot seem to get the paper work. If anyone has info on the Bingham land holdings and more on Hymen/Virginia Block, I would love to try and get info from you.
