Hi Bob,
I remember those pictures in the Recreation Hall. Then you must be from the generation of Elaine, Robert, Mary Eva (Vi and Evelyn's children). You're right Eva did have a restaurant in the city, Brooklyn, I think but not sure. Of course, their saurbrauten was one of the most popular meals. And Donnie had those steak dinners, yes he did. They even had a cocktail night which I think was on Sundays. I used to cook with Evelyn at night because the kitchen was too small (the dining room was absolutely gorgeous). What amazed me was Vi's energy. She was the spirit of the farm. She was tough like her sister but she had a heart of gold. And she really loved the resort but I understand that she, her sister and her husband, Bob, who passed on, were tired. I still think the kids regret not continuing the tradition. And believe me, it's not a great money maker. I think they sold it at that time, in 1985 or 86 for 150 thousand dollars. But it's the tradition and it keeps these small towns alive. What is Purling without Eva's Farm, the Green Lantern, the Dellwood, the Pancake House? Nothing.
