New Master List of Rush Blodget Sr. and Jr. Documents

The list below are copies of documents that were sent to me by Rush Blodget Jr. to share with other researchers. Some of the documents, listed below, are duplicated in my earlier posts. Each title describes briefly the contents of the documents. We are very grateful to Rush Blodget Jr. for generously sharing these documents with other researchers. The data is an accumulation of his and his father, Rush Blodget Sr’s life’s work through professional researchers in England. If you have an interest in any of these documents, please provide me the title and an email contact and I will send the scanned copy to you or you can visit one Scott Blodgett’s website - http://picasaweb.google.com/bluecoat.nh5/AncestralLines# - which is currently under construction. We also invite you to visit another of Scott Blodgett’s fantastic websites - http://dharmazard.books.officelive.com/default.aspx - which has maps, links, references, and continuing research of early Blodget(t)s (plus many spelling variations) in England.

A Letter from Nathan (Son of Joseph Blodget of Brimfield, MA) to the Bliss Family, 1776
Admissions and Surrenders page 1
Admissions and Surrenders page 2
Admissions and Surrenders page 3
Admissions and Surrenders page 4
Admissions and Surrenders page 5
Admissions and Surrenders page 6
Admissions and Surrenders page 7
Ancestry Chart of William Blodget 1754 to 1809
Article on Count Rumford of Massachusetts
Ballou Genealogy Ancient French Families
Bapt Rec Parchment Thomas B (1604)
Baptism and Burial transcript Stowmarket and Haughley
Bill of Complaint over land deed and letter from Nigel MacCulloch no date
Biography of Sir Benjamin Thompson “Count Rumford” page 1
Biography of Sir Benjamin Thompson “Count Rumford” page 2
Blogate Events in the Manor or Redlingfield (Allnutt Report pg 2)
Blogate of Yaxley
Blogate Tenants of the Manor of Haughley page 1
Blogate Tenants of the Manor of Haughley page 2
Blowgate_Docs_Misc_Archaic
Chateau d’Eu Vol 1 pg 1 – 9;
Blodget VT & Chilton in Canada

Millicent Blodget was born in 1853 in Swanton Falls, VT. Her parents were Orville Blodget (Blodgett) and Millicent Chilton. I can find no info on Orville and Millicent. The first record on Millicent Blodget is the 1870 census where she is boarding with Sarah Blodget (1826) in Beaver Dam WI where she met her husband William C. Blissett (moved shortly after census with William to Oshkosh WI) Family records have Orville as being born in Vermont and Millicent Chilton in Canada--not unusual since Swanton Falls is at the northern tip of Lake Champlain near the Canadian Border.
Any Info would be helpful. Thanks

WILLIAM BLODGET

"William Blodget, after whom the beautiful little valley that now bears his name was called, is a native of Jefferson county, New York, born October 8, 1811. In 1847 he was one of the hardy pioneers that braved the dangers of a trip across the plains to Oregon. In the spring of 1848 he came to Benton County, and a short time after located in what is now known as Blodget's Valley, where he has since resided and followed farming." from history of Benton County Oregon, 1885

Samuel Blodget

"The altered circumstances of trade thus brought down the formerly great and raised up the formerly small. Newport merchants never recovered; those of Providence launched upon a sustained boom. The cattle market established at Brighton, outside Boston, to supply the revolutionary army endured after the troops departed and through the nineteenth century controlled the city's meat supply. Samuel Blodget left Boston during the war, set up a manufactory of linern, duck, and sailcloth in nearby Haverhill, and prospered. The demand for saltpeter, iron, gunpowder, and muskets sustained other industrial ventures. Debtors escaped the burden of past obligations and staggered to their feet with energy renewed for a fresh climb, while once wealthy creditors sank into ruin beneath the avalanche of worthless paper. Instability encouraged movement, from east to west, from country to town. Stylish homes showed off the gains of the fortunate; the failures sought opportunities in new places. Inflation penalized the conventional and rewarded the daring, and the experience, though often painful for the moment, revitalized the whole American economy."

I am not related to Samuel. I am just passing on a paragraph from a book titled "A Restless People" by Oscar & Lilian Handlin. 1982.
Joyce
