I've traced my Blondin roots back to Peter Blondin, Born in Canada in 1838. He married a woman named Jane and they moved to Champlain, NY where they raised their family. Their children's names were Albina, Peter, and Ernest to name a few. Does anyone have information on where they came from in Canada? I've hit a wall in my research.

Thank you,
MB

Descendants of Gilbert Blondin & Emma Sabourin

I am searching for descendants of Gilbert Blondin (son of André B. and Elmire Blondin)& Emma Sabourin (daughter of Paul S. and Olive Couillard), married in Montreal (Ste-Cunégonde Parish) on April 19, 1887. They had a daughter Alice, born Jan. 8, 1893 and died in Montreal on or about Oct. 14, 1983, spinster. They also had a son by the name of Albert, born Oct. 25, 1888, who married Albertine Aubé, in Montreal, on Aug. 15, 1910 (St-Joseph parish) who's children might still be living. Gilbert & Emma also had a son Dollard Blondin not found. Other children died leaving no issue. We are looking for information concerning Alice Blondin. If anyone can help us out finding a Blondin or Sabourin relative of Alice, it would be much appreciated. Pierre

I'm searching for parents of Louise Blondin b. abt 1847 d. 1922 Enosburg Falls VT She married Edward Cleophas Richard (abt 1860) b.1838 in St Hyacinthe Canada and d.1934 Enosburg Falls VT. His parents were Toussaint Richard and Angelique Benoit. It appears they lived all their married lives in VT. They had had the following children; Napoleon, Emma, George, Marie Helene, Joseph, Henry, Edward, Maria, and I think there were three more. I'm not sure if she was born in Canada or VT. I have not been able to find a marriage record for her and Edward. In the St John the Baptiste register, Enosburg Falls there is also an Edward Blondin and a Theophile Blondin. Possible brothers of Louise? I would appreciate any information on Louise and her parents.
Do you ever hear from your Aunt Carol? She came to Powell River a few years ago, and was going to send me some info, but after she left I never heard from her again.
Debbie, your post on the Blondins has only just popped up in my emails! I had no idea you existed. I am related to Jean Francois Gravelt Blondin through my Dad's side of the family. His mother was Pauline Charlotte Gravelet Blondon. She married Harvey Coomber and moved to Canada, where my father and his brother were born. I am in touch with Rod and with Pat on a regular basis, but neither has mentioned you. I was wondering where you fit in? It's been a while since I worked on any ancestry, and my memory is great, just very short! LOL I need to re read my info to remember all the names and dates, but Henry was my great grandfather. I must admit, I started my search because Blondin was the families "claim to fame" so to speak, but I soon got caught up in the lives of his children! The stories in the closets, and all the family dynamics fascinate me. Would you consider contacting me at my email address jsparklies@shaw.ca. I would love to exchange info, and get to know more about Katherine's family!! Jody

Buckingham, Editor
Published at Concordia, Kansas
August 3, 1872

Last week a Frenchman named Mack Blonden was drowned in Buffalo Creek. He was seen going into the creek on a horse, and soon after the animal came out without him. On Tuesday the body was found about a mile and half below where he entered. He was a resident of this place for some time, being in the employ of Mr. Lanoue; his age was about 24. He was an active young man, had been a sailor, and thoroughly understood the water. The probability is that he was injured by the horse and so disabled he could not swim. He was to have been married to a young of this place on the 15th. He was a native of Canada, and had no relatives here.

Hello Roderick, I am interested in the Henry line as I am related to Katherine James on my mother-in- laws side. I have been in contact with Pat, whom I guess you know is related to the Wells' and was where Henry lived. I would love to know more about the family and would be very grateful for any info you would be willing to supply. The one thing I would love is if we could find a photo of Katherine as the only one that was in the family disappeared fron Katherine's sisters house during a visit by a distant relative.
Hope to hear from you soon,
Regards
Debbie Pople- Griffiths.

Delighted to find more info on Henry. My mother- in law has ties to both Henry and JF Gravelet Blondin. Katherine James was her Grandmothers sister Emily James. on the 1901 cencus Henry was living with her in Hastings as was his Sister Adele. Would love to Know more of this side of the family as much of this was lost due to ? French family inheritence laws. It would be lovely to hear anything from other family members.
Regards Debbie P-G

She married Charles Daigneault and lived in the Central Falls and Lincoln, RI area in the 1880's. They have John Baptiste and Regina as children. I recall my grandmother mentioning a Mr. Blondin by I was too young to have paid much attention. Could this be in the same line?

Re: Joseph Blondin

Do you have any of Joseph children's name. I haven't had much luck finding and confirming the parents of my ancestor Joseph Sureau dit Blondin. He would have been born around 1775 and he married Suzanne ? (Smith, Lacarte, Lasuire). This also needs to be confirmed.

My Joseph had a son named Louis Sureau dit Blondin who married Geneviève Bernard in 1821 in Montebello. This info was easy to find, but I have not been able to confirm that he had siblings (Antoine, and Jean-Baptiste)

The only very old reference (that I hand copied out of a reference book at the library) to a M. Joseph (I don't remember if it was Sureau or Blondin) indicates the date of 7 April 1745. The gender was not identified. Other names are listed from 1732 to 1748. The initials B,M,S appear next to some codes, so I presume it meant it was his birth date.
Good Day Darin.

I've been able to identifie that one of my ancestors was probably Joseph Sureau Hiler (Ellair) dit Blondin married to Marie-Catherine Bureau-Sansouci. The wedding took place at Notre-Dame, Quebec, Qc on 23-Aug-1773.

That would place is date of birth around 1745-1750 and possibly make him a child of Pierre Sureau (Hiler) and grandson of Hilaire Sureau (the one that strated it all).

Pierre got married twice (Agnes Ledoux and Catherine Petitclerc). I have a record of a child of Pierre with a dob of 29-Apr-1742 taken from some census records. A second option would be Charles-Joseph (23-Jan-1756)

Any information you could supply regarding these two children of Pierre woud be appreciated.
In the 1900 census, it suggests they were likely born in Quebec:

Ward 12, New Haven, Connecticut

Blondin, Peter, Head, age 72, married once, 48 years, b. Canada-French, emigrated 1864, alien, wood-worker, steam-road(?)
Blondin, Jenevive, Wife, age 71, married once, 48 years, 7 children born, 6 children living, b. Canada-French, parents b. same
Rice, James H., Son-in-law, age 38, married once, 8 years, b. Connecticut, father b. same, mother b. England, travelling salesman, undertakers supply
Rice, Antonette, Daughter, aged 37, married once, 8 years, 0 children born/living, b. He likely died in New Haven, so I would check there for a death certificate which may give you more information.
I am also searching for my family tree. If anyone has any additonal links to add please let me know. The only real factual information that I have is the following:
Joseph Blondin (d.o.b apx 1840's) wife Olivine Loyer.
I do not have all of the names of their children, however my grandfather was Joseph Blondin (d.o.b. 1867) wife Marguerite Arnold (d.o.b. March 5, 1876, deceased 1957).
They had the following children: (Ephrem, Lina, Edgar, Wilfrid, Olivine, Alfred).
My father was Alfred Blondin (d.o.b. April 8, 1917, deceased March 16, 1988) wife Liliane Rozon (d.o.b. June 19, 1920).
Their children: Lise, Claude, Diane, Nicole, Roger and Danielle.
I know that the name was originally Sureau dit Blondin. I was told that the first part had been dropped but I am not sure when. My grandfather (Joseph b. 1867) moved to Hull, Quebec from Montreal (date unknown). Any information would be appreciated.
Danielle Blondin

Hi Debbie,
All the best for 2007. Interested to be alerted to your mail. Unfortunately I do not have a picture of Katherine but you are welcome to contact me directly at rodgb@jse.co.za. for more information. Not 100% sure of whether it is all true, but do know that Henry left his first wife Isabella (and 7 children) to move in with Katherine and that it caused quite a split in the family. My grandfather (whom I never met, but learnt from my father) had no contact with his father, Henry and was not even aware that he was still alive and actually outlived him.

The fence is falling down and there is some other writing on the board...though I cannot read it. The grave is located in Washoe County, Nevada about 30 miles north of Sparks, Nevada on the east side of Hiway 445.

I know that Frank Blondin was a miner, but that is it. Does anyone have any information concerning this gentleman. I can provide a photo of the gravesite.

I'm still chipping at my brick wall. My gggrandfather, Adolphe Blondin, came to Lincoln, Rhode Island, by way of St. Albans VT in November 1872, at age 16, from Lower Canada...as stated in his application for citizenship...in Dec 1888.
At that time, no further information was required.
I have yet to find his parents.
He married Vitaline Papineau in Central Falls RI 17 June 1877 in Notre Dame RC Church. The priest at that time did not include the parents' names in his records.
The only reason I know Vitaline's parents is because the 1880 Census places them in the same house as Francis X. Papineau. The census includes known siblings.
Can someone help me further?

Hello Tammy, nice to meet a new cousin. Simon and Rose are not my direct descendants. I have although gathered some information about them.

Rose Chaurette the daughter of Jean Baptiste Chaurette (Chauret) and Genevieve Giroux (m. 29 July-1794). Rose was born 29-Oct-1805 and died on 21-Oct-1868. She married Simon on 31-Aug-1821.

Simon is the son of Simon Sureau dit Blondin and Marie-Amable Jolicoeur. He was born about 1785. He was living in Ste-Rose in 1845. He and Rose got married at St-Martin parish on Ile-de-Jésus, Québec, Lower-Canada. I believe this is now the city of Laval.

They had 6 children to my knowledge: Léon(m), Isaie(m), Charles(m), Augustin(m), Marie-Rose(f) and Marceline(f).

I have completed the lineage up to Hilaire Sureau. I also have some descendants.

You may contact me directly at my email account.
robertosureau@hotmail.com
