I am so happy to read your email because I am also a descendent of Lewis Bloodworth born in 1820 in Georgia through his son Robert Lewis Bloodworth. My line is traced back to Timothy James, Sr. where there are so many different opinions online about his parentage. I have so many questions to be answered, so I wonder how can I obtain a copy of your book on this line? Are you interested in me sharing my information on Robert's family?

Thanks so much for your prompt reply.

Brenda L.

Perhaps you can help me. When I saw your name, I remembered that my gggrandfather, Thomas Stokely Morgan Bloodworth m Carolyn Maxey. Could it be her name has remained in your family and that have information going from TSM back to revol war time? I am ggrandaughter of OHBBloodworth of Forsythe, Ga. His daughters all joined DAR citing Thos Bloodworth as their Revol War ancestor and he is no longer usable...no proof of dates. I can get to TSM with proofs, even to his father Thomas but I don't know who his father is (although I suspect John). Can you help me?
Under what revol war person did you enter the DAR. If you see my posting, I have taken up where I left off 11/2 years ago. I need to get from Thomas Stokely Morgan Bloodworth who married Tamsie Proctor and lived in Morgan C, GA back-with proof. Is it possible you have that information?

I would like to have that information as well as the historical source for it. I have become interested in the Bloodworth line ever since the DAR said they no longer accept Thomas Bloodworth (our revol war ancestor we supposed) b/c his dates in the original submission could not be proved. I think they are indeed right. Using family papers I can trace back to Thomas Stokely Morgan Bloodworth, perhaps (incontestible proof lacking) son of Thomas Bloodworth and Tamsie Proctor who ended up in Morgan C, Ga. I think his father is John, originally buried on his son Thos's property and reinterred at Liberty Hill, Ga. One source says Tamsie Proctor wanted to be next to her father in law, John in Liberty Hill. I am trying to find out who, precisely, John is. Many sources say John Bloodworth, fought in Revol War, m Tamsie Axum (Exum)in New Hanover C, NC. There is also a John Bloodworth who received a landgrant in 1787 in Anson C, NC. There is a John Bloodworth who was in the NC State Senate in late 1700s and early 1800s. I am trying to unravel who is who. Perhaps more than l John Bloodworth.

Walter A Bloodworth (born 1872) is son of George W Bloodworth, born 1849, mostly likely in Pickens SC. He is the brother of my g-g-grandmother, Mary Catherine Bloodworth Ertzberger.

Household of George W Bloodworth, including son Walter, can be found in 1880 Oconee SC census.

George W's parents were Allen Bloodworth(b c1808) and Holly (b c1815). See 1870 Oconee SC census for family of Holly Bloodworth. Apparently Allen died between 1860 and 1870. In 1860 the family is in Franklin GA; in 1850 in Pickens SC.

I don't think I have a John Bloodworth in my tree. But I find it very interesting that there is a Jeannine Bloodworth posted. How likely is there two Jeanine Bloodworth's regardless how Jeaneane is spelled. When I was born at St. Jo's hospital, the nuns would not let my parents spell my name any way but Jeanne. The spelling Jeaneane was adopted by me when I was about 8 yrs old and was tire of being called Jeannie by my teachers.

Bob,
This is all the information that I have at present, although I had him as John B. S. Bloodsworth. The Hilliard and Otis names were passed onto Emma Jean Bloodsworth's offspring also.
Known variations of the Bloodsworth name include Bloodworth, Bludworth and Bludsworth.

There appears to have been 2 wives of John B. S. Bloodsworth. The 1st wife is unknown. The 2nd wife was Mary Ann Brady who married him on 8 July 1849 in Wilkinson County, Georgia. The last 2 children, Zachariah and Hilliard were borne by the 2nd wife Mary Ann Brady. In Georgia the surname was usually known as Bloodworth, however, when some of the children migrated to Alabama they became known as Bloodsworth.

1850 Census(12 Sept 1850), 93rd Subdivision (Division 93), Wilkinson County, Georgia
Bloodworth, John, 50, Head, born 1800
Bloodworth, Maryann, 43, Wife, born 1807
Bloodworth, Jamel B., 22, Son, born 1828 (Jarrett L.
Joyce: Just read your post of 2-9-2003. Sorry I am so late but you may want to check the Tennessee Records of the formation of Wilson, Cty. Tenn. You will find there that Sumner Cty. was a VERY large area at that time. The William Bloodworth of Sumner County with MANY other residents worked to form Wilson Cty, Tenn. from Sumner Cty. The William Bloodworth in Wilson Cty. is one and the same family and is the son (Jr?) of William Bloodworth and Milly DeLoach of Edgecombe County, NC.
The Bloodworths who migrated here from England, initially were all related.

Re: John and Tamsie (Axom) BLOODWORTH -- from England

John, I just saw your posting. I am researching the John Bloodworth family for my husband, whose great great grandmother is Tamzy Bloodworth, the wife of Zachariah Neville Brand. I would very much like to see your research, as I'm getting conflicting info on John Bloodworth of England regarding his descendants. I would appreciate any help you can provide.

Re: Bloodworths of Texas

Bennie,

I believe you are descended from William James Bludworth who came to Texas from Natchitoches, LA around 1850. If so, we are cousins. I have done extensive research on this family and will be happy to share. Let me know your direct descent--father, grandfather, etc. so I confirm where you fit in to the family. You may send it to me at sdellacorte@gmail.com if you wish.

Sarah J. Della Corte
Wimberley, TX
