He later married Alberta Elizabeth Filer. They had two maybe three children: Mary Diane Bloodworth, Patricia Lou Bloodworth and maybe Steven Bloodworth?

Joyce: Just read your post of 2-9-2003. Sorry I am so late but you may want to check the Tennessee Records of the formation of Wilson, Cty. Tenn. You will find there that Sumner Cty. was a VERY large area at that time. The William Bloodworth of Sumner County with MANY other residents worked to form Wilson Cty, Tenn. from Sumner Cty. The William Bloodworth in Wilson Cty. is one and the same family and is the son (Jr?) of William Bloodworth and Milly DeLoach of Edgecombe County, NC.
The Bloodworths who migrated here from England, initially were all related.

I would very much like to see your research, as I'm getting conflicting info on John Bloodworth of England regarding his descendants. I would appreciate any help you can provide.

I have done extensive research on this family and will be happy to share. Let me know your direct descent--father, grandfather, etc. so I confirm where you fit in to the family.
I am from the Bludworth family along coastel Texas. I have traced my ancestry to my (6)great grandfather Timothy Bloodworth Sr., married to Jane Armistead, then to Margaret Evans. He immigrated from England to Virginia in 1699.

I have heard that the spelling change was the result of a family feud, but I don't have any other information. Have you ever heard of this?

Benny Bludworth/ Houston, TX

I see that you know a good bit about the Bloodworths in Georgia so I was wondering if you know who was my granfathers parents. Thanks

Yes, I believe we have a match. I think this is right - I am trying to remember it off the top of my head as we have just moved and everything is still in boxes. Your Finley was my Finley's Uncle. James C and Finley Foster were brothers. That would make your Finley my GG Uncle. Our families must have been very close as they all migrated to Texas and named their children after one another. James C married Mary Jane Blackburn. Did you have any Blackburns in your line too? I am very curious about why it is Hardy Blackburn. James went to Texas in 1838. James C had land grants in Leon TX. He shows up on the 1850 census but not in the 1860 census for Leon Co. The family pops up again in Burleson Co with the son Finley as head of household for the family(mother, brothers and sisters) in the 1870 census. Finley settled in Lee Co and married one of the descendents of "Austin's original 300" He had a son named Hardy too. Finley moved to Bell Co Tx and passed away very close to Waco in Sparta in I believe 1900. McMurry does not ring a bell off the top of my head but there are my Finley's brothers and sisters that I have no idea where they went or who they married. There are many in this line that I am trying to find.

We found Emily Odell Bloodworth's grave, and the man named Job Odell who raised my grandfather Frank, but we don't know how Job and Emily are conntected.

Do you know where James was born, and when? Did James have a brother named Clarence also?

My mother has some pictures that were sent to her by Mabel. They used to correspond. I will try to copy them and send them to you.

Marie Thompson

The information that you have sent me certainly fits. My father was Clarence My aunt was Mabel. My grandmother name was Emma almost forgot that. I use to help my granddad (Will) Bloodworth with carrying eggs to the egg Co-Op in Bothell Washington.
My moher Married Clarence in Silver City, NM
then we went to Roswell, NM and to Van Horn Texas, by that time Granddad Will had moved to Bothell Washington with Harry Smith and set up egg ranches. This is a real brakthrough, have been following trails into Tenn. Have pictures can copy and send. Willard Bloodwoth

My grandfather Frank Melvin Bloodworth was born in Iowa in 1874 to John & Emily Odell Bloodworth. He had an older brother Will and older sister Hattie. I believe there was also another brother named Clarence. When my grandfather was 3, his mother died. He went to live with "his mother's people" - the Odells. His father took Will and Hattie and moved to New Mexico. They lived in Silver City. Will married Emma ? and they lived in New Mexico until their children Clarence and Mabel were grown. Then they moved to Bothell Washington. Mabel married Harry W. Smith and had 2 children.

Hattie Bloodworth married John Paynter and had 1 daughter.

This information comes from what my mother remembers. She used to correspond with Mabel. If any of this information fits in with what you know, please write back. We have been trying for several years to find out more information on my grandfather's parents.

Thank you for responding to my query. Since my original post, I have learned more about the John N Bloodworth I was asking about. From what I have gathered, he is a second cousin to your John N Bloodworth of Leon Co.

As you know, the John N Bloodworth of Leon Co, is the son of James C Bloodworth, grandson of William Bloodworth, Jr and g-grandson of William Bloodworth and Amelia DeLoach.

The John N Bloodworth of northeast Texas and Oklahoma was the son of John Deloach Bloodworth, grandson of Jesse Bloodworth and g-grandson of William and Amelia.

Unfortunately, I have had no better luck than you in locating your John N Bloodworth after the 1880 census in Lee Co, Texas, and I assume that the little that I have learned about the James C Bloodworth family, you probably already have.

Good luck in your continuing search.

Bloodworth's in Jacksonville, FL

Hello,

My name is Petrina Bloodworth, and I'm from Jacksonville, FL. This is my first time inquiring about my roots, but my interest is increasing as the topic has come up quite a few times in conversations with random people this year. My entire family has always lived in Jacksonville, FL that I know of. My grandfathers name is Leonard Bloodworth Sr who has been deceased since around 1976. He was married to Julia Mae (maiden name unknown at this time) Bloodworth, who is deceased as of 2006 and they had 3 children. The most I know about my GF's parents is that his father was Caucasian and his mother was Seminole. My grandmother (who is African-American) was born in 1920 in Rome, GA and moved to Jacksonville, FL in the 1930's. I assume that she met Leonard after the move. I will continue to try and find out more information from living family members; however, any information that you may have will be much appreciated. Thanks.

Looking through my files, I do not find a will for Finley Foster Bloodworth, tho I found a pre nuptual agreement for his second marriage, and lots of land records.
I think we have communicated earlier - my Finley Foster Bloodworth b 29May 1817 died 30 Aug 1894 had 2 children - Hardy Blackburn and Frances Jane. He was born in Wilson Co Tennessee. Died in Bosque Co (near Waco).

I think there may be some association because of the same names and the same migration pattern. Do you also have a McMurry (McMurray) in your line?

Were you ever able to get a copy of your grandfather's death certificate? I still have not located any information on his father; I'm not even sure at this point if his name is really John Bloodworth. I only know for certain that his mother's name was Emily Odell Bloodworth according to her tombstone in Clayton Co Iowa. I know that this was my grandfather's mother, as I have a picture of him taken in the 1950's, I think, standing in The Elk Creek Cemetery at her gravesite.Would appreciate any further information that you have.Marie

BLOODWORTH Pictures

I have copied pictures that my mother received from Mabel and can send them to you. Also, she has calling cards from Gertie Blodworth and Charles Bloodworth. Do those names mean anything to you? My mother is 91 and remembers Amanda and her son Isa, who lived in Minnesota for a while. They are the only Bloodworths that she met, although she corresponded with Mabel for years.

I also have pictures of Emily Bloodworth's tombstone, and can tell you where she is buried, if you do't know. We have been to Iowa several times doing research. Where is her husband buried?
I have a new e-mail address please e-mail me directly at tweetymit@webtv.net.
