Bloodworth family in Rutland, England in 19th Century

Would be grateful for /pleased to share any information regarding the Bloodworth family in Rutland , especially in the Empingham and Edith Weston areas. I am related to a Mary Potter who married a Bloodworth man. At the 1871 census (Empingham) she was a widow with daughters Ellen and Jane Bloodworth living with her parents, Joseph and Mary Potter. Many thanks,

Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Bloodworth TN/KY

Looking for information regarding his parents. His KY death certificate states he was born 01-06-1858 in Robertson Co. TN and died 11-16-1935 Logan Co. KY. It states his father was B.F. Bloodworth and mother not known. However, per the 1880 Logan Co Ky census, Frank is listed with his mother Mary, so her name is Mary. His sister is Ophelia who married a William Stark. Another familytree has this person and states that her parents are Tim Bloodworth and Mary Ann Jones but I can't find documentation supporting this.

Frank married Sarah Louise Smith and they had several children, two of which were born in TX in 1890 and 1892 before returning to KY and having more children including Minnie, who is my grandmother. I do not find a B. F. Bloodworth in KY or TN and I think he just made up his father's name to match with his. There is a T. Bloodworth and Mary Ann in the 1850 Robertson Co. TN census but the 1860 census shows Timothy Bloodworth with wife named Julia. The initials of the children for 1850 match up with the names of the children for the 1860 census, but no B.F or Frank. Any help would be appreciated.

Bloodworth Family History

The Barnesville News-Gazette, Barnesville, Ga., Thursday, October 20, 1904

The Bloodworth Family
Pioneer Settlers In Middle Georgia.
A Noted And Useful Family To The State

The following article appeared in the Griffin News Sunday, and as it relates to the family of Senator E.H. Bloodworth, of Barnesville, and is of great interest generally to the people of this section, we take pleasure in reproducing it: One of the most prominent early settlers in Griffin was Solomon Bloodworth. Most precious memories come as I call to mind some incidents of the family. One was when he lived fronting the Episcopal church on the hill near the Christian church in 1849, I was boarding at his house, and married while there and carried my bride to board with me. When bed time came he asked me to have family prayer. I did so and have kept it up to the present. Once when on of his boys had gone into a billiard room and began to play, the old man found him in there and went in and took the cue out of his hand and used it in sending the young fellow out. The whole family were quiet, peaceable, agreeable people. I never knew any of them to quarrel. I always enjoyed their company. The old man gave me my marriage license, and I always felt good over it. Two of the sons are doing well here in Atlanta. I send you a letter from Judge J.G., which gives a full brief outline of prominent points in the history of the Bloodworth family. - Rev. C.W. Parker (Transcribed 6/23/04 Lynn Cunningham)

Atlanta, Ga., Sept 3, ‘04
Rev. C.W. Parker, City

Dear Sir:

Your P.C. without date to hand. My father was born in Warren county, Ga., July 4, 1806. His father moved to Monroe county while father was a boy. He joined the Baptist church at the age of 18 and was made a deacon at 21. He was clerk of his church and clerk of the association at the time of the split in the church, and he remained with what was and is known as the Primitive Baptist until about 1868, when he put his letter in the first Baptist church of Griffin, and died a member of that church in 1890 at the age of 84. He remained clerk of the old church and association continuously up to 1867. He was a consistent church man, never having taken a drink in a bar room, played a game of billiards, ten-pins or any game of chance during his life. He commenced to merchandise in Griffin in 1884; he moved his family there in 1845. In 1848 he began the cotton warehouse business in Griffin, and continued in the cotton business during the balance of his life. He built the first house erected on the Flemister lot, corner Hill and Popular streets, and the house still remains and is yet known by the older residents as the Nunnally place. He also built the Johnson house on broad street near Solomon; also built the first house on the place known as the Patterson place fronting the Episcopal church. He never entered politics for himself, but for a long time was a strong factor in politics for his friends.
Very truly your friend,
J.G. Bloodworth

My eldest brother, Dr. W.W. Bloodworth was born 1827; died in Birmingham, Ala., 1891
2nd brother, T.J.
Hi, are any of you Bloodworth males interested in joining a Family Tree DNA project? I know from my family in middle Georgia there are many, many Bloodworth males in our line. It would be great to get a project going and "tie up" some of these Bloodworth families. My grandfather was a Bloodworth but unfortunately he is deceased. Otherwise, I'd put him in the project! How about it, Bloodworth guys???

Bloodworth's in Jacksonville, FL

Hello,

My name is Petrina Bloodworth, and I'm from Jacksonville, FL. This is my first time inquiring about my roots, but my interest is increasing as the topic has come up quite a few times in conversations with random people this year. My entire family has always lived in Jacksonville, FL that I know of. My grandfathers name is Leonard Bloodworth Sr who has been deceased since around 1976. He was married to Julia Mae (maiden name unknown at this time) Bloodworth, who is deceased as of 2006 and they had 3 children. The most I know about my GF's parents is that his father was Caucasian and his mother was Seminole. My grandmother (who is African-American) was born in 1920 in Rome, GA and moved to Jacksonville, FL in the 1930's. I assume that she met Leonard after the move. I will continue to try and find out more information from living family members; however, any information that you may have will be much appreciated. Thanks.

I am actually trying to determine if Rushia Bloodworth and John Crews married in Sumner 1825 are mine.

William Griffin was the Bondsman for John Crews and Rushia Bloodworth, March 1825

John Crews was the Bondsman for William Griffin and Patsy Bloodworth, Jan 1825

In 1830, John Crews lives in the household following William Griffin.

I am not sure that these people are those I am seeking, but I will welcome any tidbits on either of these couples. You never know what might help confirm or deny that I'm on the right track.
Thanks,
Patti

My ancestor James Bloodworth Kelly married Ann Elizabeth Barwick in her home county of Washington, Georgia on September 17, 1835. He was born April 27, 1814 and died July 18, 1861. I know nothing about his ancestry. I am guessing that a Bloodworth must have been among them.
Does anyone know who this man's parents may have been? Perhaps his mother was a Bloodworth. She would probably have been born in the late 1790's.

Hello All:
I would like to introduce my self to you’ll as for I have been getting a lot of email about the book I am doing on the descendant of John W Bloodworth.I am Elaine Bloodworth Powers (Angel) daughter to John Thomas Bloodworth and Dorothy Bilow my family was form Taylor Co Ga. now I live in Thomaston Ga. with my family.
My ggggrandfather was Lewis Bloodworth the first son to John W and Sara Williams.
I have been working on my book with the help of Richard Bloodworth from the same line as my self. We hope to have it ready this year.
The reason I know so much about the graves of the Bloodworths is all of them are close to me I have been to most of the cemetery am cataloged them.
In July of 2002 I was happy to find the grave of Lewis Bloodworth it was unmarked so I get a marker for him.
In the spring of this year the SCV is going to help me to place it on his grave. we will have a ceremony for him then.
I hope this info. helped you all.

~Angel~
Early BLOODWORTHs/BLOODSWORTHs in Nova Scotia

Does anyone recognize this story? Is it true or even plausible?

"Captain John Bloodsworth changed his name to John Arbo, as his wife was Margaret Arbo (daughter of Joseph and Amy Arbo). . . . Isabella, or Aunt Bell as she was affectionately called, lived to the ripe old age of 100 years. She used to relate the history of the Arbos.
"He applied for a land grant on the Saint John River. He was the son of a ' United Empire Loyalist ' in 1826. His father Nathaniel Bloodworth, Loyalist, who fought with the ' Queen’s Rangers ' under John Graves Simcoe in the " American Revolution ." The Queen’s Rangers were very successful against Washington’s forces, and indeed one of the soldiers of this Regiment actually had the opportunity to shoot Washington in battle. He came to New Brunswick in 1783, after the American Revolution.
"There are several land petitions available under John’s name at the Provincial Archives Of New Brunswick. (PANB) John added the 's' to Bloodworth.

William BLOODWORTH -- of Florida

I am helping a friend research his own Bloodworth line. He also is descended from Bloodworths of Florida. He had an uncle named William Bloodworth, but I don't know much about him. He "may" have been born in about 1910-1935. This William Bloodworth had three brothers that I know of. They were James Edward Bloodworth, Reverend Charles Edward Bloodworth and Reverend Richard Bloodworth. He also had one sister that may have died as a child by the name of Caroline Bloodworth. Their parents were James T. Bloodworth and Carrie T. ( last name unknown ).

My friend lives in the Tampa Bay area now, but many of his realtives of this line seem to have stayed in the Northern Florida area. Especially near Panama City, Florida.

He knows VERY little about his family. I was able to gather the majority of this information from an obituary that I came across.

Please let me know if you think any of it sounds familiar to the family that you are researching.

Rhonda D.

My line comes into TX from MS in 1840. James C Bloodworth and Mary Jane Blackburn had William T, James M, John, Finley and Sarah A. in Leon Texas. I don't know where they all went from there and that is what I am trying to find out. Finley went on to marry one of the descendents of "Austin's old 300". He settled in Blue, Lee Co, TX. He had Finley Jr, Hardy Lee, and Martha Alice. I am trying to trace these people also. When his wife died he remarried moved away and settled in Bell county.
