This information is pretty new to me, and it is quite a story. I will go backwards in time from what I have. Part of the story is pretty awful. One of my ancestors, Phillip William Vollmer, married Dorothy Colton Bloomfield Haynes ( she had been adopted by Archibald Haynes and Minna Gale-Haynes ( who was a famous Shakespearian actress in NYC and other places.) Dorothy was one of four children of James Myers Bloomfield, of Brooklyn- a jeweler. His first two children were Marion Louise, and Helen Lefferts, by a wife named Martha Studley Oliver. She played hanky panky with his best friend so he divorsed her- big news in the NYTimes about it. He then married Anne Elizabeth Lawtey, and they had two children, James Myers Jr and Dorothy Colton. Anne died soon after the birth of Dorothy and he was forced to give the children into foster homes. The children never saw each other again. I have all of their marriages. James Jr was actually put into an orphanage until of age- and I believe he moved out west. James Sr, married somewhat later, an Elizabeth Thompson, about whom I know nothing yet, and a year later he was murdered on the stairs of his jewelry shop. He is buried in The GreenWood Cemetery, with Ann and his parents, but they have the wrong middle initial- A instead of M, but it is the same man. Then I have his parents as Jonathan C Bloomfield and Sarah Lefferts Redfield. Anne's parents are William Lawtey and Elizabeth. The the paternal grandparents are John Wood Bloodfield and Amanda Colton, and hers are John Redfield and Sarah Lefferts Schenck.

I have three children for them-Johnathan, Anne and Cornelia and two of the marriages. That is as far as I go back, so we do need to exchange info. My program is RootsMagic. Bye the way- they seem to be very mixed up with the Dutch, and James Myers Bloomfield was actually born in England, even though he lived here. Bloomfield is a common English name. I belive he was Jewish.

There is a family who knew Hellen Lefferts Bloomfield Slinn- they have photos and all sorts of info. If you google James Myers Bloomfield you will find alot- but nothing about his death in the papers at all. There is perhaps more to the story and we can write personally. Sue
