Hi my grandfather was Hugo Blomquist - brother to your grandmother Beda. Out of Hugo's children & Great Aunt Signe's children (Hugo & Signe both moved to Canada) my Aunt (90 yrs) is the only one remaining but she would remember the different Aunts and Uncle Arthur and cousins as does my Mom. The info we have from Dad's cousin Marian (Signe's daughter) is that Mathilda was from Narke Sweden and that Blomquist was the original name and only Great Uncle Arthur changed his name to Bloomquist. Marian had a write-up from Great Uncle Arthur's family on the 100th anniversary of the Bloomquist farm.

GEORGE EVERETT BLOOMQUIST 1910 - 1983

Hello,

I am looking for information about my grandmother’s cousin, George Everett Bloomquist. His first name can also be spelled as George E, or just George. He was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts on 1910, 30 May and also died there in 1983, 27 December.
His Social Security Number are: 136-03-3507. State (Year) SSN issued: New Jersey (Before 1951).

On Census 1930 he was living at his parents in Brockton, Plymouth, Massachusetts. His parents name were Selma (Gustafson) Bloomquist (my great grandmothers sister), and Emil Bloomquist, both were born in Sweden.

George got his SSN in New Jersey some time beetween 1930 and 1951, so that is possible that he lived, worked, got married and had children etc. there, and moved back to MA as an old man. Or maybe he lived in MA all of his life and only worked and spended some time in New Jersey. He could have lived in any state beetween 1930 and 1983, but I assume in MA or New Jersey.

George also had an older brother: Henry Alexander Bloomquist, born 1904, 9 March. I would be glad to find information about him to, but unfortunately somebody told me that he maybe died as a young man?

I would be very happy to get in touch with Georges children, grandchildren or other relatives.
Or if someone would find a marriage certificate, birth certificate or any record, to let me know the name of his wife and children, or where George was living and doing beetween 1930 and 1983?

Thanks,
All the best! Helen Arvidson, Sweden.
I know of a Swedish man named Bengt Bergqvist who has Blomquist/Bloomquist relatives who settled in Ellicott (Falconer) and Jamestown, NY.

His emigrant ancestor was Anders Petter Qvist Blom, who went by Anders/Andrew Bloomquist in the USA. His wife was Augusta Andersdotter. They had children named Emma, Axel, Elias, Ellen, Otis, and Oscar.

You are right about my great-grandparents being William and Sarah Rapp, and I know my grandmother was born in Los Angeles, and the dates are right. The only thing to verify is whether the John you found is Doreen's first husband (I have never known his first name). Thanks again!!!

Nadine,

I don't know if you can get to the Los Angeles county courthouse (or wherever they keep their marriage records), but here's the strategy:

Look for a marriage license for Doreen Rapp from 1915 to 1920. Also check for John Bloomquist. I would bet that both searches yield a single license, and I suspect the marriage would be in 1916. You know you can stop at 1920 because they were each divorced by 1 Jan 1920 per the census.
To clarify my last post, I am guessing that your grandmother married John Bloomquist (circa 1916), had a child (Dorena) soon thereafter, and then divorced by 1920. The child went to live with your grandmother's parents, William and Sarah.

Again, this is all speculation based on the 1920 census data on Ancestry. Perhaps your personal knowledge can confirm or deny this scenario.

I have no relation to these Bloomquists, for the record.
