I'm also related to Conrad Bloss who fought in the Flying Camp of 10000, during the Battle of Long Island. Since he married Anna Catharina someone who was born abt. 1726, I do believe he was probably born around 1718. That fits cause he would be the right age to venture out to the New World as a young man (24). And many of the new patriots were so loyal and excited about their new nationalism, there were many patriots who were fighting in their 40s and 50s. Finally, his son John George Bloss was born October 15, 1744 and he was 26 years old, a typical family-rearing demographic.
So those are my reasons for believing that Conrad may very well have been in his fifties at the time of the Battle of Long Island! What do you think?
