Surnames: Bloxom, West
Trying to locate death record or obit for Clara Bloxom West b. Feb 1883 and/or her husband William J. West b. Oct 1884 known to be living in Metompkin, Accomack, VA in the late 1800's and early 1900's. I would even like to try to find obits for her parents, Sewell Bloxom b. Jun 1862 and Sadie Bloxom b. Apr 1862 or any of their children. I am trying to find one of the daughters of William J. West and Clara Bloxom West and am hoping to find her listed in one of these obits. I have no idea if this daughter is still living...and am not sure what her current married name would be...so that is why I am looking for the obits.
If anyone can tell me where to find obits in Metompkin or Accomack County, I would much appreciate it. I am not sure what time period these obits would be in...but I can put Sewell and Sadie Bloxom past 1920...so probably those would be between 1920 and 1930...then William J. West and Clara West...would most likely be sometime between 1960 - 1980. I cannot find them in the SSDI.
Thank you so much for any help.
Need help in locating Jacquelyn (may be spelled differently) West and her 4 daughters. She is the daughter of William J. West and Clara Bloxom West. Here is what I know of them:
Clara Bloxom West was born Feb 1883 in Metompkin, Accomack County, Va. to Sewell (b. Jun 1862) and Sarah (b. Apr 1862) Bloxom. Sarah may also have gone by Sadie. Sewell's parents were Major (b. Dec 1837) and Clarissa (b. abt 1842) Bloxom. Major's parents were George (b. abt 1801) and Narcissa or Marissa (b. abt 1809) Bloxom. In the 1850 census George Bloxom is listed as "George Bloxom of G"...I have absolutely no idea what this means...so I hope someone can explain it to me.
Clara Bloxom married William J. West....that marriage occurred about 1911 apparently in Metompkin, Accomack County. William J. West (b. Oct 1884) is the son of George W. West (b. May 1855) and Sarah E. West (b. Aug 1858). I cannot connect this family prior to 1900..only because the name is so common.
Clara Bloxom and William J. West had 4 daughters that I can prove. There is a huge time difference between the 3 oldest and the youngest...about 10 years between #3 and #4. It appears that in 1920 Clara moved back to live with her parents on their farm, while her husband went to work as a "Retail Merchant" in a general store...they appear separate in the 1920 census...in 1930 they are back together.
As I mentioned, I am looking for Jacquelyn...#4 daughter, born about 1927...Jacquelyn married in and had 4 daughters. If anyone can provide information on her whereabouts or any information on this family, I would greatly appreciate it. Replies can be sent to shaslam100@yahoo.com. Thank you so very much.
