Bloxom family in Metompkin, Virginia mid-1800's to early 1900's

Trying to locate death record or obit for Clara Bloxom West b. Feb 1883 and/or her husband William J. West b. Oct 1884 known to be living in Metompkin, Accomack, VA in the late 1800's and early 1900's. I would even like to try to find obits for her parents, Sewell Bloxom b. Jun 1862 and Sadie Bloxom b. Apr 1862 or any of their children. I am trying to find one of the daughters of William J. West and Clara Bloxom West and am hoping to find her listed in one of these obits. I have no idea if this daughter is still living...and am not sure what her current married name would be...so that is why I am looking for the obits.

If anyone can tell me where to find obits in Metompkin or Accomack County, I would much appreciate it. I am not sure what time period these obits would be in...but I can put Sewell and Sadie Bloxom past 1920...so probably those would be between 1920 and 1930...then William J. West and Clara West...would most likely be sometime between 1960 - 1980. I cannot find them in the SSDI.

Thank you so much for any help.

Need help in locating Jacquelyn (may be spelled differently) West and her 4 daughters. She is the daughter of William J. West and Clara Bloxom West. Here is what I know of them:

Clara Bloxom West was born Feb 1883 in Metompkin, Accomack County, Va. to Sewell (b. Jun 1862) and Sarah (b. Apr 1862) Bloxom. Sarah may also have gone by Sadie. Sewell's parents were Major (b. Dec 1837) and Clarissa (b. abt 1842) Bloxom. Major's parents were George (b. abt 1801) and Narcissa or Marissa (b. abt 1809) Bloxom. In the 1850 census George Bloxom is listed as "George Bloxom of G"...I have absolutely no idea what this means...so I hope someone can explain it to me.

Clara Bloxom married William J. West....that marriage occurred about 1911 apparently in Metompkin, Accomack County. William J. West (b. Oct 1884) is the son of George W. West (b. May 1855) and Sarah E. West (b. Aug 1858). I cannot connect this family prior to 1900..only because the name is so common.

Clara Bloxom and William J. West had 4 daughters that I can prove. There is a huge time difference between the 3 oldest and the youngest...about 10 years between #3 and #4. It appears that in 1920 Clara moved back to live with her parents on their farm, while her husband went to work as a "Retail Merchant" in a general store...they appear separate in the 1920 census...in 1930 they are back together.

As I mentioned, I am looking for Jacquelyn...#4 daughter, born about 1927...Jacquelyn married in and had 4 daughters. If anyone can provide information on her whereabouts or any information on this family, I would greatly appreciate it. Replies can be sent to shaslam100@yahoo.com. Thank you so very much.
Mary Elizabeth Ford, born 25 August 1843, was married to John Vincent Bloxom. This obituary is from an unknown newspaper, unknown date.
BLOXOM -- Mrs. Mary E. Bloxom was born in Alabama August 25, 1843, but was reared in Texas, having come to this State with her parents when quite small. Died May 27, 1921, and was laid to rest in Slater's Chapel Cemetery to await the resurrection morn, when all the just shall stand together on the right hand of God. She was married to J.V. Bloxom in 1870. To that union were born two children, Tom and Miss Sue, who are left to mourn her going. Sister Bloxom was converted at the age of 18 and joined the M. E. Church, South, of which she lived a consistent member until her departure. She suffered much, but through it all she was patient and submissive to the will of Him who doeth all things well. May God's richest blessings rest upon the grief-stricken husband and children. Weep not as those who have no hope, for you shall see her again.
J. W. BROWN, P.

The obituary of Catherine Bloxom, daughter of Henry Clay Bloxom and Sarah Frances (Smith) Bloxom, was published in The Greenville Advocate, 3 November 1897, page 4.

On the morning of Saturday, Oct. 23rd, the freed spirit of Cattie Bloxom took its flight to the bright realms of heaven. Six weeks ago she was taken to a skilled physician near Selma and all that medical aid and loving hands could do was done, but daily she grew weaker until the end. She was the youngest girl of Mrs. Frankie Bloxom of Monterey, Ala., and was the idol of the home. Said a lady to the broken hearted mother, "How can you grieve, it was only an angel's visit to earth."
The funeral took place at the Baptist Church at Pine Apple, Dr. Ramsey and Rev. Kendrick officiating. The remains were intered in the cemetery, being attended thither by a long procession of friends, kindred and acquaintances.
A Friend.

William Luckie Bloxom (1878-1929) Alabama memorial

The following memorial to William Luckie Bloxom was originally published in the Wetumpka Herald, and reprinted in The Greenville Advocate, Greenville, Alabama, 24 April 1929.

In Memoriam

At the twilight hour on last Thursday tragedy grim and deep came to darken our fair town and in its hovering shadow was sent out into "that land from whence no traveler returns" the spirit of Dr. W. L. Bloxom. With no warning the awful shock of his going fell upon the hearts and lives of loved ones and friends and from a home was taken the care and love of husband and father. Indeed does "He work in mysterious ways His wonders to perform," and in the far beyond "someday, some time we'll understand."
In his twenty-one years as a resident of Wetumpka Dr. Bloxom had practiced dentistry with earnestness and success. He came from his childhood home in Butler County when a young, eager souled man not long out of college, and builded here his home. As a man he was upright and true; as a citizen he was loyal to his town and county; as a husband and father he provided well for his household, watching over those he loved with tender care; as a son and brother he was close in love and helpfulness; as a friend he was steadfast and ever ready to prove his trust; in his profession he held to tenets of fairness and high moral responsibility. In business and financial circles this prominent citizen is a loss to town and county and he will be greatly missed.
On Friday afternoon the remains were carried back to the happy scenes of boyhood and laid to rest in the burial ground of his ancestors at Pine Apple, Ala. Loved ones and friends accompanied the sad funeral cortege and there other relatives and friends of his youth and maturer manhood gathered to pay the last sad tribute of respect and love and covering the new made grave beautiful flowers breathes their messages of sympathy.
Oh soul alone in that last voyage,
Rest in peace on that shining shore.
— Wetumpka Herald.

L. Bloxom at Wetumpka on Apr. 4th removed from our midst one of the prominent dentists of the State.
Dr. Bloxom was born at Pine Apple Jan. 29th, 1878, the son of H. C. and Mrs. Frances Bloxom. He grew to manhood at Monterey, where many relatives mourn over his sad death.
After completing his education at Vanderbilt University he located at Wetumpka where he was successful in business until he was suddenly killed as he left his office on the afternoon of April 4th.
He is survived by his mother, now 82 years of age, one brother, Mr. H.

The following memorial for Albert Bloxom was published in The Greenville Advocate, Greenville, Alabama, 19 October 1898, page 8.

In Memoriam

Death Of A Young Man

Dr. Albert Bloxom, eldest son of Mrs. Frankie Bloxom of Monterey, Ala., died Thursday October 6th at his home at Mattoon, Ill.
He was only twenty-eight years of age and the future was full of bright promise. At eighteen he graduated at Lexington, Ky. Four years later he finished a dental course at Vanderbilt University at Nashville Tenn., carrying off first honors at graduation. A successful year was spent at Pittsburg, Penn. in the N. Y. Dental parlors, going from there to Mattoon, Ill., where he established himself.
Modest and gentlemanly in his demeanor, ever considerate for the feelings of others, he made friends of all with whom he came in contact. That he was cut down in the very flower of his young manhood and in the realization of a bright, prosperous career, has caused great sorrow, not only among his relatives and friends at the home of his boyhood, but also at the far-a-way home of his adoption. During his brief illness five skilled physicians attended him and loving hands and hearts did all that was possible for his comfort. He was stricken with appendicitis Oct. 1st, and on the 6th, he passed away. The body was embalmed and, accompanied by Rev. Dr. Hooper, of Mattoon, was brought home for burial. Beautiful flowers were sent by his distant friends to be placed on the casket. Sunday, Oct. 9th, the funeral services were held at Pine Apple, conducted by Dr. Hooper, assisted by Dr. Ramsey and Rev. Mr. Guthridge.
One who loved him.
