HOOPESTON — Vera M. Bloyd, 80, of Port Charlotte, Fla, formerly of Hoopeston, died at 10:23 p.m. EST Monday (Jan. 7, 2002) in Punta Gorda, Fla. She was born Dec. 7, 1921, in Milford, the daughter of Earl and Marie Marlatt Hawthorne. She married Troy W. Bloyd April 20, 1942. He survives. Other survivors include: two daughters, Sherri (Martin) Counterman of Port Charlotte and Debbi (Jon) Whiteley of North Port, Fla.; one grandson. Aaron Counterman of Port Charlotte and one sister, Edythe Myers of Gamp Hill, Pa. She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter. Mrs. Bloyd graduated from John Greer High School in Hoopeston. She resided in Hoopeston for many years and moved with her husband to Florida 18 years ago. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hoopeston. She did volunteer work for the American Red Cross and Girl Scouts of America. She was a member of AWANA Clubs International.
