thank you for your reply
st vincent now known as st vincent and the grenadines, an island in the caribben. it was a slave colony of Great Britain
during the 17th, 18th and 19th century. the site that ifound the name Blucher showed that the 19 year old was owned by someone. Charles Blucher died in St Vincent 1894 at the age 0f
63 years. He was matried to Lucy Raymond and had several childfren. I am a descendant from the female line.
I do not know if my great grandfather was born in Europe or St Vincent. It appears as if he had a sister by the name of Elizabeth Blucher.
Australian Bluchers

In the 1800s there were at least three migrations to Australia by members of the Blucher family. These three separate migrations trace back to the following Bluchers.
SA Bluchers
Hans Christian Blucher, born 23-Dec-1770 in Zahrensdorf.
NZ & QLD Bluchers
Christian Frederick Wilhelm Blucher, born 1828, somewhere in Germany.
VIC Bluchers
Johann Joachim Diederich Blucher, born 12-Dec-1801 in Bresegard.
Is anyone able to shed any light on these three Bluchers?
Is anyone able to trace the these lineages back even further?

I would like to be able to connect these lineages to the main Blucher family tree. Any assistance provided will be greatly appreciated.

Folcrom

Hi David,

Gustav von Blucher who was in Civil War was my gt grandfather. My grandfather was his son by his 2nd marriage. Gustav was born in Copenhagen in Denmark in 1842 and after a short time in the Prussian Army went to the US where he joined the Union Army's fight against the Confederates. He returned to Europe in abt 1870 in the hope of joining in the Franco-Prussian war but it ended before he got there! He then returned to the US until about 1875, returning to Denmark sometime before 1885 where he married Rigmor Peterssen. Any information you can give me about his time in the service of the US Union Army would be much appreciated.
Regards
Christina Blucher-Manning

Gustav Roger 1842-1895.

He travelled back and forth across the Atlantic several times.
Here's the story. I'm his Gt Grandson, by his 2nd Wife.

He joined the Prussian army at the age of 17 and on 12 March 1862 he was awarded the rank of Lieutentant. He then quit the service and went to America to participate in the Civil War as a volunteer with the Union Army. He enlisted to fight against the Confederates between 1861 and 1865. He reached the rank of Major during this time and fought in several major battles. (His original orders have been passed down the male line of the family and are currently held by Robert Ulric von Blucher, great grandson. Gustav was also awarded an American Passport, printed on parchment which is also in the possession of Robert.

During his time in America, Gustav married and had a son and daughter, Conrad and Emily, respectively. Little is known about his spouse and the children.

At the outbreak of the Franco-German War in 1870, Gustav returned to Prussia to participate on the German side. The war, however, was concluded quickly and he arrived too late to participate, so he returned to America and re-entered the army there. Towards the end of 1874 he was a Major in the 22nd Infantry Regiment in Fort Woyne, Detroit/Michigan. The last report of him in the Family History was in 1878.

Gustav returned to Denmark sometime after 1878 and before 1885 and married Rigmor Mathilda Pettersson, by who he had a further two children.

Cheers

Michael Robert von Blucher
What Blucher estate was sold to Max Schmeling? The Field Marshall's estate was used as a retirement home for Blucher's and then sold and used as the American Embassy until destroyed in Word War II. It was next to the Brandenburg Gate. My family had dealings in its sale. There were numerous "estates" but I have never heard of a Max Schmeling connection.

I wouldn't hold my breath looking for a link from Joshua to Gebhard. You won't find one. That branch is long been studied and all descendants accounted for.

Funny thing is, there are far more people claiming descent from Gebhard today, than he actually has living descendants.

Three of his children died in infancy, one died aged 4, another aged 8. Two never produced any offspring and the remaining son that did, has a well documented lineage.

Cheers

Just another Blucher, not descended from Gebhard.

I am interested in information on George Blucher's family. He was the son of Joshua, was born about 1859, and married Loula/Louisa White at Lafayette County Missouri. They had at least two daughters Eula and Ethel, born about 1889 and 1898. My interest is in the family of L. White who was my grandmother's sister.

I am looking for a connection between Catherine Blucher b. about 1767 in Wartenburg, Sachsen, Preussen d. 12 Jan 1852 and General Gebhard Blucher. My grandmother seemed to had made a connection that I can not find and I am unable to find the sources she used to make it. It is so hard to get information about her. I did have an e-mail from someone who had said that they had made the connection between the two and it was through the house of Poggelow, but I have not yet heard back from her.

As for Michael Rickel b. about 1763 in Wartenburg, Sachsen, Preussen d. 15 Apr 1837 in Wartenburg, Sachsen, Preussen. He married Catherine Blucher 2 Aug 1758 and they had two children that I know of Elizabeth and John Blucher Rickel who I have all information for!

I would really appreciate any help that I can get! Thank you so much for your time! My e-mail address is gone2gig@ yahoo.com.

Thanks again

Hello,

If your ancestor worked on the Poggelow estate, he most likely will have worked there during the time my ancestor Karl Wilhelm v. Blücher owned the esate. He had been given Poggelow in 1819 by his father-in-law Gualter von Hertell. Unfortunately he wasn't a very good at managing it, so he had to sell it again in 1828. At that time Sukow was owned by Karl's older brother Hans Dietrich Wilhelm. (Karl was one of 26 Children !)

Regards,

Ingolf Vogel

Joshua Blucher was my gggrandfather...his daughter Margaret (Maggie) married my ggrandfather George Lindley and they moved to Oregon. I would appreciate any info on Joshua (is his full name John Joshua Blucher?) since I haven't done so well finding him on censuses and online info. I have a picture of a man and woman by Crater Lake in Oregon, taken probably in the 1950s, that I think may be a Blucher cousin on a visit, but I haven't been able to figure out who...maybe you would recognize them. I'd love to compare notes...feel free to e-mail me directly : jrleep1@netzero.com
Thanks.
