Morris Bluestein

Looking for information on Morris Bluestein born around 1877 in Russia/Poland. He immigrated to the US in 1900 and married a woman named Mary in 1908 in New York. They had three children, Sadie/Sally born in 1910 in NY, Sidney in 1911 in NY, Annie born in 1913 in NY.

In the 1920 Federal Census, the lived in Somerset County in New Jersey. I am looking for any information on his family. I do know that Morris did divorce Mary in late 1940's early 1950's. Unsure of exactly where they lived in 1930 or anything about Morris family. The children eventually changed their last name to Blue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Anyone knowing anything that sounds familiar would be helpful.
I don't talk to my father's extended family. To be quite honest I don't know half of them! That's why I'm on here to find out what and who I'm related to and where my family is from. I am so sorry.

~andrea

bluestein family

in the boston area, there were two bluestein clans- one in the shoe business and one in the stationary business. Apparently they weren't very creative when they were picking names, since some of the two families have the same names. My family was in the shoe business There were six children of Mary and Morris Bluestein. Charles, Willie, Fanny(Friedman) Minnie (Miller) Barney, Hymie, and Rose (Jacobs). There siblings were all born in the 1880's or 1890's. The father, Morris di ed in 1921 and was born in 1850. Looking for any bluestein relatives for whom any of these names ring a bell.

more unrelated Bluestein information

Sorry to get in on this discussion so late, but I can add something about other Bluesteins. My Great-grandfather, Louis Bluestein(e), came over from Poland in the 19th century and settled in the Bethel, Ohio, area. Two sons, Isadore and Simon remained in the Bethel (Cincinnati) area, as did 2 daughters (Hortense Meister and ? Pollak). A third son, Frank Bluestein, moved to Covington, KY, but remained childless. [There may be others I'm not recalling at the moment.]

Isadore Bluestein had 2 sons, including Robert Bluestein who married Eva and lived in California with a son, Mark Bluestein, and a daughter whose name I forget. [I think the other son died childless in Cincinnati.]

Simon Bluestein had a son, Richard Bluestein (my father: 1914-1995), and a daugher, Norma Moss (who recently celebrated her 96th birthday in Cincinnati). Richard was born in Indianapolis and also lived in the Boston area, Chicago, Cincinnati, Denver, Los Angeles and Scottsdale.

Going back up the line, there was a brother of the original Louis Bluestein(e) who moved to Texas. His son (or grandson?) Eddie Bluestein was a star football player at the Univ. of Texas (their first all-American) and a very popular director of Public Works for San Antonio. I believe that there is a street named after him. Eddie Bluestein had (at least) a son and daughter, both still in Texas (although I forget their names).

I gather that none of these Bluesteins are related to any of you, but thought you might like the information. I have more written down if anyone wants more details at some point.
