My g.g.grandfather was Julius Blume, married to Rosena Thompson (she was born on a shrimp boat in Lousiana). He was in the civil war and had many children - I will have to get the file but I knew Julius (his son) as Uncle Jewels (we called him). They were living in Challis and I just recently took a trip there to start my research. I don't have my file with me to write the other names in the photo, but I do have a photo of Julius and Rosenas headstone from Challis. I will send more when I return home. Thank You Sandie

have we emailed before? This sounds a whole lot like our family, also - we also have a "Fred"and the spouse Rosina, husband Julius with son Julius and Idaho also matches the responses on the Nov 5 message board, from us, I think. You or Sandy Hoyle may email us at glofrey@mindspring.com if you wish to check more at length.

We are connected - Rosena and Julius are my ancestors siblings Rosena is from Louisiana, they moved to Idaho. They had a son named Frederick F, born June 2, 1880. Julius senior died in Challis, Custer County, Idaho, in 1921. Rosena preceded him in death in 1920. There are a couple other family members who also track this group, with a special interest in the Civil War connections.

Willing to share? We'd love it! The other family members have most of our data too.

We have two Julius Blume names, at least. The oldest lived in Blue Earth County, MN (near present day Mankato - largest town near it) and lived in Idaho after serving in the Civil War - married with children. His spouse was from Louisiana They had a son also named Julius, (and many other children). Do you have more info on your connections? There is a rumor all the Blume's originating in MN were somewhat related, and many of the names are repeated through the generations - my family first names all have analogs with other Blume families in MN - truth, same with my grandfather, and so on... so, there are several Julius Blume persons related to each other, over a couple generations.

I was wondering if you were still checking this web site - I am related to the Blumes you have listed, the youngest son of Julius and Rosena was Fred. He was my great great grandfather. If you have any family history about any of the other children I would love to have names (family history) etc. I have one photo I would gladly share.
Thank You Sandie

Blume's in South Carolina

I am interested in any information that anyone can send me in relationship to the Blume's of South Carolina. My family seems to be from the Barnwell County area and there are some questions I have that some of you may have the answer to.

I am interested in any old pictures, stories, facts of any kind you can provide. One question in particular is that I have always heard that there was alot of American Indian in our family and features and skin tone seem to support his yet I can find no basis for the statement, unless it come's in from one of the wive's to a Blume man and there are a couple women that I have no last name for so it is possible that is where it comes from.

I know very little of my fathers family and the family line that I do know has died down to a very small group, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am in no way related to this family... This posting is just as a service to others.

BLUME, Alan E. age 90 of Trotwood, passed away Wednesday May 7, 2008 at Covenant House. He was preceded in death by his parents Emma and Alexander Blume. Alan was a brilliant electrical engineer for 55 years. He is credited with 8 patents. He worked for General Electric for 25 years before moving to Dayton 35 years ago. He graduated from Yale before his 20th birthday. Al served as a Naval officer in WWII, after which he earned two masters degrees from Union College in Schenectady. Alan was well read and knowledgeable about history, science, astronomy and the arts. In addition he was a great fan of early American jazz, an active ballroom dancer and lover of animals. He and his wife enjoyed cruising and sailed 28 times to various ports in the world. They also did pet therapy, bringing puppies from SICSA to visit residents at nursing homes. Alan was a member of the Duke Ellington Society, International Jazz Record Collectors, a life senior member of Electron and Electric Engineers (IEEE), Covenant House Guild and served as treasurer of the Big Band Boosters Club until it dissolved a few years ago. He is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Toby (Theodora) who loved him madly, daughter E. Sue Blume and her partner Diane Conti, sister Marian Galewitz, two nephews, family and friends and two old friends from Schenectady. A memorial service will be held at a later date. If desired memorial contributions may be made to the Covenant House Guild, Hospice of Dayton or the charity of your choice, BRADFORD - CONNELLY & GLICKLER FUNERAL HOME handling arrangements.
I am trying to reserach my Blume Family History. My g-grandfather was Francis Herbert Blume, born in SC August 25, 1885. His parents were James B Blume and Eulalia Harley. I can find James in the 1900 Census, living in Aiken County, but nothing before that. HE supposedly left the family & moved to Florida & I think he died between 1940-1945. The 1900 census says James was born around 1863 in SC & was a sewing machine operator.

James B (My grandmother swears it was James A Blume) & Eulalia (Sarah Eulalia??) had several children. Bertha, Franics (Herbert), Willie & Midge. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would be happy to share any information I have as well.

Laurie Montgomery

I am searching for my G G grandfather Conrad Blume.
What I do know is Conrad Blumme married Jane Meredith on June 8th 1859 in Launceston and he was supposedly 28 years old. So Conrad was born about 1832 in Germany. His death record lists his birth place as Hanover.
The interesting that the surname changes from Blume to Wackeldine. His marriage and the birth of their first son is registered under Blume and Wackeldine. Wackeldine is spelt various ways in different documents. I know Conrad was a music teacher and also a prison overseer.
