Hello,
I know this is an older post, but I'm also doing research on this line as well. I found JR Blumenberg living with his half brother Oscar and Oscars daughters Olive and Matilda on the 1920 Chicago Census. I have not been able to find out anything else about Oscar or Julius.... but do a bit of information on their parents and siblings. If you'd like to swap information please get in touch with me at mereniresearch@yahoo.com

Just discovered I have a Blumenberg line going back to Tyczyn Poland. My grandfather's sister, Hene Eisen, married a Jonas Blumenberg in 1920. Although I was recently in touch with a Blumenberg here in the U.S. who is related to that line, he has disappeared, and does not answer my emails. I know of at least one of Jonas and Hene's sons who survived the War by getting to Israel, but he has disappeared from radar since the War ended, and I believe some of his siblings may also have survived, possibly in Russia.

Just discovered the name Blumenberg in my family tree. My grandfather's sister, Hene Eisen, married a Jonas Blumenberg in Tyczyn, Poland, in 1920. They had at least three children, one of them a son who got to Israel roughly in 1938 and was there will 1945. After that, he disappears. Two of his sisters, if not more siblings, may have survived by getting out of Poland to Russia.

Ana, I would love to share information with anyone researching the same BLUMENBERG names! Alwine Lena Catharine (Lilly/Lily/Lillian) BLUMENBERG (b. 22 Sept 1896) was my father-in-law's mother. Margaret Elizabeth were his aunts. I would like to pin point information about their parents, Henry BLUMENBERG and Dora LOEFFLER. (Why does the name Hunsicker sound familiar to me?) Looking forward to your reply.
Yes, Koehler is my married name, and it probably wouldn't be in that intriguing book. My BLUMENBERGs were from Germany, around the Hanover or Hildesheim areas. Tradition has it that Henry, Dora, Alwine, Catherine, and Elizabeth emigrated in about 1909. I do not know if Henry had siblings. My informations stops with Henry and Dora. Thanks for any help you can be in finding out more about them. Sincerely, DJKoehler@aol.com

Re: BLUMENBERG

My mother's maiden name was Montefiore. We have been stumped for quite some time trying to trace her Great Grandfather James Montefiore (from Datzic, Prussia). He vanishes at some point in time too so that we can't even get a Death Certificate which might reveal the names of his parents.

Anyway you might wonder where I'm going with this? Well, it's like this, sometime ago somebody suggested that James Montefiore may have changed his name.

"James Montefiore does not appear anywhere (on his family tree) and further more I am very surprised that he was born in Prussia. This seems very strange to me and makes me wonder if by any chance his name was Blumenberg, changed into English translation of Montefiore.
I have no reason to suspect this is a correct theory, but what else can I say when I cannotfind any Montefiores outside England, Italy, Australia and Argentina, the latter after Mussolini's racial laws in Italy in 1938."

If anyone else can elaborate I'd be most appreciative...

Harry

Blumenbergs in Mississippi 1840-1910

I'm looking for the ancestors of Lelia Louisa Blumenberg, who married my great grandfather Henry Hinds Davis in northeast MS on 28 Dec 1881. Her father was J.H.M. Blumenberg. Her ancestors were said to have immigrated from Munich Germany to either New York or Chicago where they ran a music school. The Blumenberg names most mentioned by relatives are Frederick and Shaum, and cousins Jenny Lee and Bertha. If you have any info on this family please e-mail me at ellenvgross@aol.com.
