Our families aren't related as far as I know, although I have only been able to research my family back as far as:

Doris Blumenfeld Van Cleave (England 1910 - US 2000) >
Baptist Blumenfeld (Braunschweig Germany 1868 - New York US 1943) >
Simon Blumenfeld (Germany ? - England 1911)

I'm pretty convinced the Sidney Blumenfeld in the 1901 census is my Simon, as the names and ages of his wife and children all match up with the first initial of my (I'm guessing either the census taker couldn't understand their names or they were using Anglicized names?). However, I don't yet know Simon's family, so it's possible there's a connection!

Hi - I hope you can help with this. I am researching into my mothers family. Her surname was Blumenfeld and her father was Theodore Bernhard, his father was Egon (a Music Hall Artist) and his father was Simon Blumenfeld who was a Circus Artist. There was also a Hugo that we know about, I believe he emigrated to the US. We know we have a connection to the Circus Blumenfeld as my Mum has some posters of the Flying Blumenfelds somewhere. She knows there was also a Veronica who was a Bareback Rider. Simon was born in Germany and his son, Egon was married in Hull, England in 1887.

There is a Sidney Blumenfeld in the 1901 Census in England, however he has 3 sons, all Music Hall Artists, and we are unsure if they are related too.

Can you help?

Dora Blumenfeld's maiden name was Dora Levison. Her parents were Alexander Levison and Josephine Freund. This family was from Chicago, Illinois.

Meyer Blumenfeld was a hunchback. He work for the railroad in the Turn House. They had three children. As far as Meyer's parents, I do not have that information. I can give you a lead. If you write a letter to the railroads like "Chicago Northwestern", you can secure his application which required the parents name. I wish you lick. Linnell-

If this is your dad or know of this person, any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Dana Becker (Rebecca Pitkowsky Kuneck's granddaughter)
Beth,

It is possible. My "Bessie" is Pesse Siegal who married Salomon Blumenfeld in Jassy/Botosani around 1884. The family immigrated in stages. The two eldest children may have come in 1900-1902 but I can't find their ship's manifest in New York. Salomon and the third daughter came in February 1904. Pesse and the five surviving children came in September 1904. There are two children buried in Jassy.

Pesse's 1904 ship's manifest states that she was going to Chicago, 69 Wilson St., to meet her husband and Jos. Schwartz. The family settled in Chicago.

The family was attached to a Schwartz family. I think that Salomon's sister, Rebecca, married Joseph or Wolf Schwartz. I am looking for Joseph or Wolf. There is also an Aaron Schwartz connected somehow as well. My great-grandmother was the eldest daughter, Schaindle, and she came with the Schwartz family.

Would any of that ring a bell with your father?

Hello... I am one of the lines of Blumenfelds that remained in Europe. My father's name was Raymond. His father was Zelic. Both were Romanians (Brailia, to be exact) and my father also fought in the War of Independence. Your family line is most likely form the Zelic line. My grandfather had several brothers and sisters. Several emigrated to the North American continent in 1926 and after the war. Contact me if you wish. Max

Blumenfeld

I have been trying unsuccessfully to get any information on my maternal grandmother and her family. Her name was Liza Blumenfeld. She married Morris Moskowitz in 1904. her mother's name was Sarah. She had a brother David and a sister Rebecca, who was married to an Adolf Singer. Her father's name seemed to be Elkana? I do not know if he ever came to this country or died in Roumania before they came. According to the census data I have, they came to this country, to New York, in 1901 or 1902 from Roumania. They were supposedly from Bucharest. I cannot find any mention of any of them in the Ellis Island database. Any suggestions or information from anyone would be appreciated.

Hi, These are relatives of Eugene Blumenfeld of Magdeburg, Germany. These Blumenfelds were a very famous circus family. Most perished in WWII after their circus was taken away from them. Some had been working in England and in the Netherlands before. Closely related to Circus Strassburger, circus Bronett/ Goldkette and Circus Kinsbergen and the very famous Konyot family. If you send me your email I can send you a scan of a CDV of the circus.
I have some photo's of Blumenfeld's in Germany.

I have pictures of her grave in Chicago. It has her picture on it. She died Dec. 31, 1935. I have children and spouses.

Bessie entered as "Pesse" with several of the children. Her husband Sam and three of the other children came to America before her.

Does this sound like your Bessie?

Robert,

I'm sorry. I don't think I have a connection for you. My Siegal/Segal family immigrated to Chicago from Romania in 1904. My great-great grandmother was born Pesya Itya Siegal. From her headstone I learned that her father was Mordechai Hersh Siegal. That is all I know. Her second son was named Mordche Tzvi Blumenfeld after his grandfather. (Hersh & Tzvi are synonyms meaning "deer"). Mordche died unmarried in the flu epidemic of 1918. Two of his sisters each named a child after him (Max & Martin). If any of that helps, good.

Best wishes.

Lane Fischer

I am trying to get information on my grandmother's family. Her name was Liza Blumenfeld. She married Morris Moskowitz in 1904 in New York City. From the census records, it appears her mother was named Sarah. She had an older sister named Rebecca who married Adolf Singer. She also had a brother named David Blumenfeld. David married Amelia. They were all supposed to have come to this country in 1901 or 1902, but I can't find any records for any of them on the Ellis Island database. Her father's name was something like Elkana, but I do not know if he ever came to this country. He may have died in Roumania before they came here. The family was supposed to be from Bucharest. If anyone knows anything about this family, any information would be appreciated.

Dora is my Grandmother's sister, Caroline Levison. Caroline died when I was nine years old in Chicago. We lived at 1348 W. Belmont and telephone was Mulberry 5-6467. I have looked for Dora for six years. Caroline was married to John Alfred Larsen, a conductor, for the NorthWestern Railroad. Caroline died in May1952 and I saw my grandfather burn all her pictures and documents in the apartment basement. It breaks my heart for it contained family history that is irrreplacable. I am praying that Dora has copies of their parents Alexander Levison and Josephine Freund birth/marriage/death certificates. Caroline had two boys - Arthur Parnell and Edward Jack. I am the daughter of Edward. My mother's name is June Helen Gribben, she worked for Ma Bell.
