Richard Eduoard BLUMENSCHEID/T or BLUMENSCHIEN

I am seeking info on my Greatgrandfather Richard Eduoard BLUMENSCHEID. He was born June 1879 in Germany - no place given in Germany. When he emigrated to the US in December 1892 his hometown was given as Tilsit. I have found this as Sovetsk, Russia now. Richard shows up in Newark, NJ in the City Directory in 1895 and marries Louise P. Fellmuth on 08 September 1895. Copy of marriage record states parents as: Karl BLUMENSCHEID and Louise A or W EHILENSTEIN(sp?). Record is handwritten and even with help from Salt Lake FHL, mother's surname is questionabIe. I can not find Richard listed in New York or anywhere in New Jersey between 1892 and 1894. Richard and Louise had as a witness to their marriage Ida BLUMENSCHEID. I can find no reference to this person any other place. Richard was a shoemaker living on Monroe Street on the 1900 US Census. Richard and Louise had 2 children Arthur and Florence. By 1910 US Census surname spelling had changed to BLUMENSCHIEN and by 1920 US Census spelling was BLUMENSCHINE. 1940 Death certificate for Richard gives birthplace of himself and his parents as Russia and surname spelling as BLUMENSCHINE.
Would any one on this list have these persons listed in their families? I have been at an empasse for more than a year.
Theresa Calgary Canada

Helen Greene Blumenschein

Helen Greene Blumenschein was a dear friend of my mother. We used to call her "Cousin Helen" but I have been unable to determine whether there was any actual blood relationship.

Her parents were Ernest L Blumenschein and Mary Greene Blumenschein. I recently found a copy of her "Sounds and Sights of Taos Valley" inscribed "to a long, long friendship of the family for four generations." (The book belonged to my parents.)
My mother was Frances Frieseke Kilmer. Her parents were Frederick Carl Frieseke and Sarah O'Bryan Frieseke. My father was Kenton Kilmer. His parents were (Alfred) Joyce Kilmer and Aline Murray Kilmer. I know that Helen and her mother spent time with
F. C. Frieseke and family in the 1930's in France, and that Mary Green and F C Frieseke were both studying painting in Paris in the early 1900's. However, if there was a blood relationship of any kind, it could just have easily been through my father's family. At least he had some Greene connections.

any information that might help me find a common ancestor would be appreciated.
