Hi Patti - After going through my genealogy project I have found no direct connection. However that doesn't mean there isn't a distance one yet to be found. I do have a William Blumenstein born Nov 1876 in PA. and a William Blumenstein born 1898 in Harrisburg, PA. and finally William Blumenstein (my father) born 11 Dec 1902 in Harrisburg, PA. I know this probably doesn't help you but who knows. I could send you more information if you wish.

Good luck - Don B.

Yes, I would be interested in the "100 Years of Huggs" book.
I am the only one in the family who has been trying to trace the Blumenstein history. I have only been able to go back to my grand father Frederick Carl Blumenstein, b. 23 Mar 1881, d. 05 May 1966. He was married to Emma Catherine Waggoner, b. 12 Jul 1880, d. 15 Aug 1943. They had seven children: William Harry, Elmer Wheiler, Mary Alice, Gertrude Laura, George Christian, Susan Elizabeth, and Agnes Pearl. I've been told that Frederick Carl's father came to America from Berne Canton, Switzerland. Not to sure how true this is.Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can furnish additional info if you like.

Sincerely - Don Blumenstein (dblum30@earthlink.net)

Moved to Salt Lake City Utah around 1913. She had two brothers, Louis Pechstein and Ernest Pechstein. Later moved to Brownsville, TX in 1928. She also had a half sister, Elizabeth Goldman in California. If you can tell me any thing about them or how they may relate to Blumenstein, I would appreciate it.

I think that my father-in-law Joe Blumenstine is a brother to your grandfather. His father was Conrad. He was born in Pa
Nov 10, 1901. His sister Mary attended his birth and wrote a letter to that effect so that he could get a birth cirtificate. Joseph died Dec 26, 1982 in Akron. He was married to Florence Bethel who was born in Tampa Fl and came to Akron at the age of 18. I think that Conrad died in Akron but I have not followed up on when.

MJ Bonnett

My father-in-laws name was Joseph Blumenstine, but I have also seen it spelled Blumenstein. He was born somewhere in Pa, Nov 10, 1901 and died in Akron Oh, Dec 26, 1982. I have been told that he had an older sister Mary who lived also in Oh, and I believe their father's name was Conrad. I found in the world family tree Pa census of 1870 a Conrad that came from Prussia and was about the right age. I can't find anything else either, as they did not want to talk about the family. I had a brother-in-law by the name of Jack who had gotten in touch with some people he believed to be relatives from Wisconsin. Unfortunately he died and I did not keep the name and address and phone# of the person. I just know that there was a William Blumenstine named and I remember notifying them that Jack had passed away.

Don,

My dad was Elmer and when I went to Germany, I got a plaque of the blumenstein's coat of arms. There is some information on the back but I'm sure it is about the symbols and nothing else.

Mike

Any relations in Oregon area? My grandfather was Robert George Blumenstein and great grandfather was mayor in Elgin Oregon. Before that came from Switzerland when there is a street named von Blumenstein (von becuase of nobility and a knighthood). Also, at one time there was a Blumenstein church connected to our side. Blumenstein's on our tree line trace back to the Huggs. There is a book called "One hundred years of Huggs" that traces the Huggs through to the Blumensteins. It was printed in 1958 because I was born in 1959 and did not make it in it. I don't know if this is pertinent but thought I'd pass it along.

I am interested in your Blumenstein line that has a Gertrude Laura Clements in it. Is this her married name or maiden name? I am searching for our CLEMENTS roots which started with a Gertrude Clements in Philadelphia in 1933. Do you have a birthdate for her?

Kathy
MeGee1933@aol.com
