Blumenthal - Nathan 1844 & Walter 1862

My great grandfather was Nathan Blumenthal, born Kempen (Posen), Germany c1844. He first appears (alone)as a lodger in Leicester on the 1871 UK census, and is on subsequent UK census returns until 1911. He died in Liverpool in 1915.

He must have had brothers because on the 1881 UK census return there is a nephew staying with him in Liverpool, a Walter Blumenthal, born 1862 in Posen, Germany. I have been unable to find any further mention of Walter in the UK. Any information on this Walter Blumenthal would be greatly appreciated.

Kismet18

My grandmother Anna Golding married a Philip Blumenthal. Was originally from Portland Maine and later moved to Brookline, Massachusetts. Father-Stanley Lawrence Blumenthal. I am Lauren Blumenthal. I do not recall ever hearing the name Kane/Kulchinsky. From what I have determined there were a number of Blumenthal families in Maine. Some, perhaps most originally from Canada. Most of my family originally came from Russia and maybe a little from Poland. Not really sure. Do you remember the cousins name? I live in Calif. now.
Lauren

Joan,

My Dad had a cousin in Brookline Ma with the last name of Blumenthal. The family was originally from Maine

My Grandmother was a blumenthal, but never knew much about her she married a Kulchinsky or Kuchinsky, which was my Dad's name before he changed it to Kane. Pretty vague about the history, but I know we always referred to the Blumenthal's as the "red headed side of the family". Mean anything to you?

No, it is not him. That David Blumenthal is very well-known and is famous in MI. I know for a fact that the Schoenberg's were from Kusmin Ukraine and that some of David Blumenthal's family was from Satanov and Bolekhov. Alex's place of birth says Poland on some documents and Russia and Prussia on others. As I am sure you know the geography name changed based on the borders which were transient during 1800-1900. Currently the region is known as the Ukraine- at least in relation to Satanov and Bolekhov. Yes, I have ordered death cert's, naturalization papers, birth cert's and everything else that is possible and have very very little info. I am not going to go into all of the details but the family was very tight lipped on their origins.

I'm looking for anyone that has info on an Edward BLUMENTHAL that would have been in Detroit Michigan around March of 1898. I don't know anything more about him but I'm trying to connect him to my great-grandfather, David POMAVILLE. Edward was a witness to my great-grandfather's wedding to Lizzie SMITH.

Thanks,
John in Racine WI

David, Isaac, Anna Blumenthal Russia/Rochester NY

Hello,

I am looking for any info about my ggrandfather David Michael Blumenthal born around 1861 in Russia and who came to the US around 1881. His parents were Issac and Anna (no idea if they came over or what town they lived in) and his first wife's name was Anna Klein who died in 1896 around age 29 in Rochester, NY. They had 4 children (Anna, Julius, Garson and Ida)and he arranged for Rebecca Schoenberg to come over at age 18 (in 1896) from Russia and they married in Rochester, NY. They had 4 more children- Lill, Eva, Molley (my grandmother) and Ruthie. I would like to know what town they came from (I suspect the Ukraine- near Odessa).

Thank you,
amybeth

Charlotte Minna Blumenthal

I am searching for any information on Wilhelm Heinrich Hartung. He was born on 25 OCT 1898 in Magdeburg, Germany, married Charlotte Minna Blumenthal in January of 1929. They had one child. He remarried to a lady with the last name of "Unger". They also had children. He died 29 OCT 1984 in Berlin, Germany. Charlotte went on to live until 1994 in New York. We think that the separation had something to do with her family being Jewish, and can not find anything on them.
Wilhelm's father was Heinrich Friedrich and his mother was Friederika Luisa Schuetze. Charlotte's parents were Nathan Blumenthal and Clara Cohn. Nathan died in NY, NY in 1953 but Clara died in 1935 in Berlin.
Any information would be appreciated.

Dave:

I'm not sure if this is the same Ferdinand Blumenthal but my great-great grandfather had the same name. The records I've found thus far for him show that he also died in 1914. However, he passed away 12 July 1914 in Saginaw, Michigan. He was married, I believe, to Henerite Clerite. The Ferdinand Blumenthal I'm referring to was also a "Junior." If you think this might be the same person I would appreciate whatever information you're willing to share.

Thanks.
Troy Waskoviak
