Dear Phyllis,
It is sure nice to meet you. I have heard your about the dropping of the "C" from Blunck name also. Fredrick is my Gr. Gr Grandfather and of course because I still work with the 'C' I descend from Otto who was my mother's grandfather. I do have a copy of the passenger's list that Fredrick and the two boys are listed on. However I also show with him what appears to be his wife and daughter. Here is how it is listed:
Friederick Blunck age 36 male workman from Holstein destination St.Louis (this is followed by)
Maria Blunck age 35 female from Holstein rest same (followed by)
Hinrich Blunck age 13 male from Holstein (followed by)
Otto Blunck age 8 male (rest same) (followed by)
Doris Blunck age 1 1/2 female (rest same).
I have never seen it written about an Annie though I have heard this story from other Blunk relatives. Can you tell me where this information came from?
They came over on the Danish Ship Desiree and Tully from Hamburg arrived in New Orleans on 27 June 1847. It seems that Maria and Doris died somewhere in either New Orleans or on the way up the Mississippi towards Iowa/Illinois area.
I have yet to determine where in Holstein or Hamburg area they originally came from.. It is one of my many 'brick walls' that I need to break through..
Would love to correspond further with you, as I have a lot of questions for you. Maybe together we can figure this all out.
