Blunt family from Denaby Main

My grandfather Harry Blunt was born in Denaby Main Yorkshire in 1894. His father was Edward Blunt and his mother Eleanor Rosser. Harry emigrated to Canada in 1912. His mother had died in 1908 and his father had re-married in 1912 to Mary Jane Lane. My grandfather had half-siblings from his father's second marriage. Does anyone know who they were?

Zerviah Abbot married to Ephraim Blunt/Blount

I've seen many places where it is indicated that Ephraim Blunt from Suncook, NH, son of William and Sarah Blunt married Zerviah Abbot, daughter of Jonathan and Zerviah Holt Abbot. However, I cannot seem to find any further information on this branch of the Blunt family. I am very interested in their children. Zerviah Abbot was born in Andover, MA. She married Ephraim Blunt on 06 May 1713 in Andover, MA. I cannot find anywhere what children they had. I don't know where they went after Andover, MA. What I'm trying to do is find a reliable source that helps me link them to the Zeruiah Blunt that I have married to Aaron Hartshorn (my ggggg grandparents). My information states that Zeruiah Blunt was born in Pembroke, Merrimack County, NH. She and Aaron Hartshorn went on to have 11 children. Zeruiah died just short of being 101 years old in 1860.

If anyone has ANY information on the children of Ephraim and Zeruiah/Zerviah Abbot Blunt/Blount, please let me know or point me in the direction where I can find out more.

Thanks!

I am researching the family history of my cousins and have found that their paternal g-grandmother was SARAH BLUNT (b.1872 Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire) daughter of THOMAS BLUNT (b.1841 March, Cambs) and Mary Ann Fitzjohn. Thomas, along with his father WILLIAM BLUNT (b.1814 Eastree, Cambs) were the first two innkeepers of the 3 Horseshoes Inn, which was in Turves, Cambs.

Anyone with any Blunts from Cambridgeshire in their tree?

S. J. Blunt arrested for horse stealing.

Appears in "The Wapanucka Press" 12 November 1903, Wapanucka, Johnston County, Indian Territory, now Oklahoma

HORSE THIEF CAPTURED

Deputy Marshal Criswell and possee arrested S. J. Blunt a notorious horse thief and outlaw, near Ego Monday night.

The man had stolen two horses from a farmer, Mr. Vernon, near Stonewall a year ago, and the arrest Monday night also found the horses, which he still had in possession.

The prisoner was carried to Atoka Tuesday and landed in jail. The evidence is clear that Blunt stole the horses and that he will get a free ride over the road in an almost settled fact.

Charles BLUNT Killed in S.C. 1781

Who is this Charles BLUNT in the following paragraph

http://www.rsar.org/military/sherm225.pdf

Early April (possibly January 1781).1198 [skirmish] Wiggin's Hill (Barnwell County, S.C.) Col. Thomas Brown with
570, including some Cherokees (or else 170 plus 500 Indians), went out from Augusta on an expedition to catch
Col. William Harden, who by one account had only 76 rangers. The two forces skirmished at Wiggins' Hill, and
Harden, outnumbered, was beaten off. Harden possibly tried to attack again next day, yet, if so it is assumed he
was repulsed. Harden lost 7 killed and 11 wounded, and Brown’s losses are not known.1199
Tarleton Brown: “This atrocious deed of the sanguinary McGeart [McGirth] and his band was shortly succeeded
by another equally cruel, nay, doubly cruel. The British Colonel Brown marched down from Augusta with an
overwhelming force of Tories and Indians, and taking their stand at ‘Wiggins' Hill’, commenced a slaughter of
the inhabitants. The news of which reached the ears of those brave and dauntless officers, Colonels. McCoy and
Harden, who soon hastened to the defense of the terrified Whigs, and coming upon the enemy, charged upon
them and killed and routed them to a man, Colonel Brown escaping to the woods. Colonels McCoy and Harden,
having accomplished all that was required of them, retired from the field of action, after which Brown returned
with the residue of his force and retook the ‘Hill’, at which he remained until he hung five or our brave fellows ---
Briton Williams, Charles Blunt, and Abraham Smith, the names of the other two not recollected -- then he
decamped for Augusta.”

I am looking for information on Lewis Blunt, one of the pioneers of Wabasha Co, MN. I have very little information on him except that he moved to MN around 1855 with a 13 year old daughter, Martha who married George Duncan, another pioneer. Martha's place of birth is listed as NY.

Also, on the 1860 census in MN, there is a Collins Sinclair shown living with George and Martha, he is 14 at the time and is gone by the 1870 census. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Nathan BLUNT b. ca 1820 ME; first wife Susanna GROVER

First of all let me say, I dislike the new format for these message boards. It is difficult to find the replies to posts.

Anyway, my line is GROVER, thus my interest in the BLUNTS.
I have accumulated a fair amount of information, including original letters written by Nathan F. BLUNT to my Grover ancestors.

I am seeking pictures of Nathan BLUNT, husband of Susanna GROVER, and second wife Elizabeth Waterman LEADBETTER.

Does anyone related to these lines have pictures they might share?

Thank you,

Revae

Searching ffor Madeline Tunnell, gd/o Edith Augusta Blunt

Am searching for infomation about Madeline Jeanne Tunnell and her two husbands. She was d/o George T Tunnel and Edith Augusta Blunt. She was born in Denver, Co in 1910; there is no evidence of her death although that can't be ruled out. She was living with her family in Westchester Co, NY in 1930 She was single at the time. Her mother Edith Blunt Tunnel died in 1975 in Dade Co., FL

Between 1930 & 1964, she married an E. McEldowney. Have no further information on this marriage.

In 1964, Madeline Tunnell McEldowney remarried in Dade Co, FL. Have no further info on this mariage either.

My immediate goal is to identify the full names of the two husbands, where they lived and whether there were any McEldowney children. Anything beyond that would be icing on the cake and greatly appreciated.

Thank you any any assistance anyone can give me. I look forward to hearing from you.

I am attempting to contact anyone who knows of Hilda BLUNT (born c1904 Tunbridge Wells, ENGLAND) who was a vaudeville performer in the 1920’s USA, performing in an all-women trick cycling act “The Girton Girls”.

My grandmother Louise MORRIS was also in the Girton Girls cycling act and I have several photographs and 16mm film of Hilda which I would be happy to share. I am researching for a documentary film being made in New Zealand about my grandmother and would be keen for any information of possible descendants/acquaintances of Hilda who may have different photographs or films than I possess.

Cheers

Grant Campbell
KENTUCKY & ILLINOIS Blunts

Samuel Blunt was born abt 1790 in Kentucky. He married his wife, Catherine Leas/Lease 6/23/1836 in Sangamon Co., Illinois. They then went to Mason Co. where they had the following children (per the 1850 Mason Co., Illinois census): Lydia, 1837; Rebecca 1840; Margaret 1842; Serena, 1845; and Martha, 1847. Nancy Lease, 1791, born in N.C., is living with them. When and exactly where the children were born, I am not sure yet.

REBECCA: From "The History of Sangamon County,":
Jacob Earnest married Rebecca Blunt. They had two children, and moved to Hancock county, Ill. Of their children--
ELIZABETH, born Sept. 29, 1833, in Sangamon county, was married July 29, 1852, to William Jones. They had eight children, JACOB H., FRANCIS M., MARY M., EMMA A., IANTHA B., IDA M., WILLIAM B. and LIBBIE. William Jones was drowned Jan. 1, 1869, while crossing the Mississippi river. Mrs. Elizabeth Jones was married Dec. 1, 1870, to William Isenberger. They have two children, GEORGE W. and RACHEL, and reside near Appanoos, Hancock county, Ill.
JACOB H., born August 18, 1836, in Sangamon county, married in Hancock county, Feb. 19, 1860, to Elizabeth Riman, who was born May 16, 1836. They have five children, EDWARD M., HENRIETTA, LYDIA F., ALVIN P. and ZENA MAY, and reside near Appanoos, Hancock county, Ill.
Jacob Earnest died Sept. 29, 1842, and Mrs. Rebecca Earnest died March 8, 1858, both in Hancock county, Ill.

Yet, I find Rebecca in the 1870 Hararison Co., Mo., living with her parents, Samuel and Catherine, and Young Samuel. She is now Rebecca Bridges and has five children. She has no husband living with her.

Does anyone know of this family .. not just Rebecca, but Martha (who married and went to Iowa) and the remaining family.

Jane Griffin

BLUNT, Oliver & Sarah F. - Bingham, Maine

I am seeking information on the family of Oliver BLUNT and wife Sarah F. in Bingham, Maine. Oliver was born MA and apparently died prior to the 1850 census as Sarah was living with son, Nathan F. BLUNT.

Children of Oliver & Sarah (I speculate) are:
1. Nathan born ca 1820 ME, m. 1) Susannah GROVER; 2) Elizabeth Waterman LEADBETTER.
2. Pauline b. ca 1825 ME
3. Lorenzo born ca 1829 ME
4. Sarah E. born ca 1834 ME
5. Hannibal born ca 1836 - 1838 ME
6. Hiram born ca 1836 - 1838 (twin to Hannibal) ME
7. Mark born ca 1840 ME

I found these names on censuses for 1850, 1860, 1870 - all in Bingham, ME. Mother, Sarah was listed in every census in household of son, Nathan F. Blunt.

I would like to locate spouses of any of the children, with exception of Nathan, as well as information on Oliver Blunt and wife, Sarah's maiden name.

Any information will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Revae

Robert Blunt/Blount, 1st Baron Ixworth

Two questions:

1) In seeking information on Robert I frequently find variations on the following statement:

Robert le Blount had command of the Conqueror's ships of war, and is styled, in the "Doomsday Book," "DUX NAVIUM MILITARIUM."

Although I find Robert in the Domesday Book, I cannot find any such reference to his role or title. Am I missing something? Perhaps someone can clarify the reference.

2) What evidence is there to support the claim to descend from the Counts of Guisnes? I have not found anything yet but am well aware that many medieval pedigrees were "embellished".

All comments welcomed.

Walt O'Dowd
Rushmere St Andrew
Suffolk
England

Looking for information on WIlliam "Bill" Blunt. He first married Louise "Liza" Waite. Children were Felix, Lewis and George.

He then married Amelina (Mary Lena, Melina) Decoteau/Descoteaux. She was the widow of Unknow Marchand and had a son named Alex/Aleck/Alexander N. Marchand. William & Amelina had the following children: Mary Amelia, Henry, Delia Ann, Ann O, Octavie, and Lucinda Agnes. As far as I can tell, neither Ann nor Lucinda ever married.

In 1860 William & wife Liza were in East Baton Rouge Parish and Amelina Decoteau was living next door. By 1860 William and Amelina were married and living in 8th Ward, Ascension Parish. Apparently both William & Amelina died between 1880 & 1900 since 1880 is the last census I can find them on.

Does anyone have any idea who his parent's were?

Francis BLUNT, b. ca. 1730s, in Kentucky by 1780

In Philip Fall Taylor's 1917 book, "A Calendar of the Warrants for Land in Kentucky, Granted for Service in the French and Indian War," there is an entry dated 30 Oct 1780 for Francis BLUNT for 500 acres on "Nohn" Creek in Jefferson County (then VA, now KY). There is no "Nohn" Creek in Kentucky, but "Nohn" appears to be a misreading of "Nolin," a creek/river which runs from present day Edmonson Co., along the line between Grayson and Hart Cos., into Hardin Co., then Larue Co. -- all within early Jefferson County.

Events in the French and Indian War are dated 1754-1763, but most of the fighting took place between 1756 and 1760, so for Francis to have served, he had to have been born no later than 1744 and more likely ten or twenty years earlier.

There is also a Francis BLUNT who shows up on the tax rolls of Woodford Co., KY, in 1795, who may be the same man. The only other BLUNTs -- there were no BLOUNTs -- on the extant 1795 tax rolls in Kentucky are Abigail (AMBROSE) BLUNT, widow of Reading BLUNT, Sr., and three of her sons (Andrew, Cyrus, and Reading, Jr.) in Nicholas County. Reading Sr. was still in Virginia as late as 1791, so he appears not to be closely related to Francis.

Who is this Francis BLUNT? Any additional information appreciated.

BLUNT with no family tree [VA]

My name is Lewis Henry Blunt and I was born in Mexia, TX in 1924. My father, Lewis Henry Blunt, [a bricklayer], said he was born and raised in VA, [he had the VA brogue]. He never discussed his VA roots, so for 80 years I have not known, seen, nor heard of any Blunt relatives. [Hopefully, some of you who are reading this are kin.]
He married my mother, probably in 1920-21, and likely in Galveston, TX. Their first child, my sister, was born in 1922 in Mexia, TX.
Based upon the few meager records which I have, showing dates, he could have been born abt. 1870.
Although this is speculation. I wonder if John Lightfoot Blunt, b.1802, in Hanover Co., Va., could be my ggrandfather, and that his son, Lewis H.Blunt, b.1832, Hanover Co., VA., [a bricklayer], could be my grandfather, and that his son, Lewis H. Blunt, Jr., b. 1870, Henrico Co., VA., [also a bricklayer], could be my father.
Based upon internet information, he married Mary Hanky, Sept. 11, 1890, in Richmond, VA. Their children were Frank Leo, b. 1890; Gertrude, b. 1894; Lewis H., b.1897; and Mary E., b. 1900.
If you are able to, will you please help me solve this mystery?
My email is lhblunt@glade.net
