I have found Ruth Blunt, daughter of Rev. John Blunt and Naomi Lovejoy. She would be the sister of Capt. John Blunt who is the father of Jesse (Jase). Do you have the information of Rev. John Blunt? I had to do this research for the organization, Daughter of the American Revolution. I am willing to share what I have.

Yes, It was Sturbridge Massachusetts, (sorry) and Mary was born 22 March 1788. Mary first married Samuel Day, they had 6 children. I have tried to transcribe there names from a copy of a family bible, of Mary's and Stephen Smith. Lucinta, b? Diadamia 1802, Ruth 1810, Samuel 1812, Franklin B.,1814 and Maryann 1815. Mary aka "Polly" married second to Stephen Smith in New Sharon, Marine. I have birth records from New Sharon, "Old Records" book B, Page 22. as follows:
Jesse B. Smith, son of Stephen and Polly Smith born August 9, 1823. Frances B. Smith born April 6th 1825. Stephen Franklin Smith born September September 27, 1827.

Stephen Smith died 1866, New Sharon Maine. Mary moved to Boston and lived with her daughter, Frances from her second marriage. Mary died 1870.

The Sturbridges records have a Diadami Nugent, mother Ruth Blunt listed. She was born 24 June 1766. I am thinking this is the Diadami who married Jesse Blunt. What do you think?

Mary named several of her children with Blunt family names. Her first son with Stephen Smith followed the use of family names, as my grandmothers first name on her birth record was Philania Loretta Smith. She went by the name Loretta.

Since receiving the copy of Mary's death record which lists her parents as Jesse and Diadami, I believe I have the right family (Jesse son of John and Rebecca)

Thank you for your help
Marilyn

You have given me some more things to research. I couldn't find a Sturbridge, NH, only Sturbridge, Mass. I do have a copy of Vital Records of Sturbridge, Massachusetts, to the year 1850, that has the birth records of Jesse spelled Jase, son of John and Rebeckah Blunt. It also has his siblings Andrew, Anna, John, and John. The marriage of John and Rebecca (spelling varied).
In the 1790 census for New Hampshire, in Plainfield Town lists Jesse and his brother Andrew. It states that there are three people besides Jesse living in the household.

Rome Vital Records from 1776-1843 lists that Jesse and Diadma were married on June 12, 1788. It lists the following children: Franklin at Winthrop, Maine..Jan. 26, 1795, Cynthia at New Sharon, Maine..Feb. 15,1798, Eunice in New Sharon July 22, 1800, and Philina in New Sharon April 8, 180?.
Do you know when your Mary was born?

I have never been able to find a last name for Diadma/Diadami. It makes sense that she would have been related some how. They stuck together so much back then. Jesse's grandfather married his cousin Naomi Lovejoy (her mother was Bathsheba Blunt)

I just received a copy of my 1st great grandmother, Mary (Blunt)Smith death record from Boston, and found her parents listed as Jesse and Diadami. It also starts she was born in Sturbridge, NH. The Vital records for Sturbridge are not complete, but I did find a Diadami Nugent born 1766 her mother was listed as Ruth Blunt. Jesse's birth record is listed as with his name as Jase.,

Maybe you already know this! Do you know of any more children born to Jesse and Diadma?

Thanks for the date on Waldo. From the photos I inherited, I think he was very close to his distant cousin and my ggrandfather Victor Nelson Denison. I have a lot on the Denisons and the Hopkins. If you need them, I can send you FGS of these Blunt/Hopkins and Denison/Hopkins lines. I believe the Hopkins goes back to John Hopkins University. Victor Denison is buried in Greenwood Cem in Birmingham. The Denisons came to MI in about 1831 before MI was a state. They settled in Oakland County from the beginning. There is a Denison Society in CN and 2 volumes written on the Denison Genealogy. It ends with VND and his first 3 kids and the 3rd one,Roy Denison, is my maternal grandpa. I must add that Lois Pamelia Hopkins is Victor's step-mother, as his genetic mother died and Daniel Avery Denison married Lois and she raised the kids. Daniel Avery and Lois have the biggest, best tombstone, like a big tree trunk with vines on it in the Crooks & 18 Mile Road cem. I will try to find the picture and send you. I will send you an invite to my family site and you can do a search in the photo section for Waldo and look at the other photos. I haven't kept up the chart there because I work on it at onegreatfamily.com. Thanks for your contact. It has been 5 years since I left the message you answered. Miracles happen in finding genealogy.
Waldo's death date was in 1967. He is buried in the Oakview cemetery, just a few blocks from me. I will try to get more info from the cemetery today for you. I would enjoy seeing your myfamily web site. I do not have my records on the web. I have over 24,000 people in my database going back to the 700's. The Blounts and Blunts are all from one family. Most of the Blunts are buried in the Oakview and Royal Oak cemeteries in Royal Oak. If you are still in this area we could meet for coffee and talk genealogy.

I will send a photo of Waldo Blunt to your e-mail address. I inherited pictures from several generations and I am now pretty big into genealogy. I have other photos of Waldo with my great grandfather Victor Denison and an unknown man. Perhaps you will know him. My mother died in 2000 and she was born in 1906. She knew these people well and she identified most all of the photos in Victor'e possession. They lived in Oakland County all their lives and are buried in the Crooks Road Cemetery near 18 Mile Road. I haven't searched for Waldo's death yet, but I will now. He was b.21 JAN 1885 Warren, Macomb, MI. I was born in Pontiac and raised in Troy and Ferndale near Hilton Rd. and 10 Mile Rd. If you are in Royal Oak, I'm sure you know where that is. I have a myfamily website. I would like you to come to it and see the rest of the photos I speak of. If you wish, I will send you an invite so you get a password to get in. Mary Fletcher

I am researching the Blunts in LA. There was a Wm Blunt who showed up abt 1810, don't know if he is the same you have. I have finally found how Elias Blunt ties in, Elias showed up in LA about 1803-1810, same time as William, in the same Parish. Elias was in GA prior to arriving in LA. Since Elias was born abt 1775, don't think William is the father. I would be happy to share what info I have, let me know.

I have an original Cabinet Card photograph of “William S. Blunt (husband of Katherine) – Katherine (Carter) Blunt (Kate is sister of Caroline Carter Chaney – and (her father) George Robert Carter (age near 90 years)”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in Rochester (Monroe Co.) NY, in about 1890. William looks about 55 and Kate about 45.

I found the family of William and Katherine in Brooklyn, NYC and Manhattan, NY in 1870, 1880 and 1900 censuses. Dates of birth shown in 1900 are Sep 1837 for William and Oct 1846 for Katherine. There is a George Carter in the Monroe Co. census in 1850, age 50 (indicating birth abt 1850, which is identical to the age of the man in the photo in 1890. He had a daughter Catherine, age 11 in 1850.

Get back to me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to William Blunt or Katherine (Carter) Blunt.

Zerviah Abbot married to Ephraim Blunt/Blount

I've seen many places where it is indicated that Ephraim Blunt from Suncook, NH, son of William and Sarah Blunt married Zerviah Abbot, daughter of Jonathan and Zerviah Holt Abbot. However, I cannot seem to find any further information on this branch of the Blunt family. I am very interested in their children. Zerviah Abbot was born in Andover, MA. She married Ephraim Blunt on 06 May 1713 in Andover, MA. I cannot find anywhere what children they had. I don't know where they went after Andover, MA. What I'm trying to do is find a reliable source that helps me link them to the Zeruiah Blunt that I have married to Aaron Hartshorn (my ggggg grandparents). My information states that Zeruiah Blunt was born in Pembroke, Merrimack County, NH. She and Aaron Hartshorn went on to have 11 children. Zeruiah died just short of being 101 years old in 1860.

If anyone has ANY information on the children of Ephraim and Zeruiah/Zerviah Abbot Blunt/Blount, please let me know or point me in the direction where I can find out more.

Thanks!

I don't know if its any help since I don't know much more than that. I believe they lived in Weston, Mass.

My grandfather Harry Blunt was born in Denaby Main Yorkshire in 1894. His father was Edward Blunt and his mother Eleanor Rosser. Harry emigrated to Canada in 1912. His mother had died in 1908 and his father had re-married in 1912 to Mary Jane Lane. My grandfather had half-siblings from his father's second marriage. Does anyone know who they were?

Hi Ann!

I read that you and another researcher had co-authored a book about your Devoy family from Ireland. I was hoping you might be able to help me because I've hit a brick wall. Would you mind looking at my family information and telling me if my Devoy branch is related to the one you researched?

My gg-grandmother was Margaret Mary Devoy (20 Jul 1842 - 19 Aug 1894). I'm not sure when or how she came to America or who her parents were. According to her tombstone, she was born in County Queens, Ireland. I've been told this is now Laois County. According to Early Vital Records of Pensacola, Florida, Margaret lived in Pensacola for 45 years. This might mean that she came to America at around age 7 (so in 1849 or before). I have been told by some family researchers that her parents were James and Sara Devoy, but I have seen no evidence to support this.

My family group:

1st Generation (my great-great-grandparents)

Margaret Mary Devoy (b. 20 Jul 1842 Queen’s County, Ireland d. 19 Aug 1894 Penascola, FL) married Frank Peter Sanchez (b. 29 Apr 1835 San Antonio, TX d. 20 Feb 1877 Warrington, FL) on 22 Dec 1859 in Mobile, AL. Both are buried in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Pensacola.

Children:

1. Margaret “Maggie” Sanchez (b. 29 Dec 1867 Mobile, AL d. 3 Aug 1903) – see next generation.

2. Mary Jane “Mollie” Sanchez (b. 11 Dec 1869 d. 17 Oct 1839). She married Lars Andersen on 24 Oct 1888.

3. Stephen J. Sanchez (b. 26 Dec 1871 d. 25 Nov 1925). He is buried in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Penascola.

4. Virginia Theresa “Jennie” Sanchez 17 Mar 1875 Warrington, FL d. 27 Jul 1944). She married William Andrew Jackson Pollock on 26 Jan 1898.

5. Phillip Sanchez (b. 29 Jul 1876 d. 10 Feb 1929). He married Mary Margaret O’Donovan. Both are buried in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Penascola.

2nd Generation (my great-grandparents)

Calvin Francis Henry (b. 24 Jan 1855 in Wilcox County, Alabama, d. 31 Apr 1898 in Pensacola, Florida). He married Margaret “Maggie” Sanchez (b. 29 Dec 1867 in Mobile, Alabama, d. 3 Aug 1903 in Pensacola, Florida) on 8 Sep 1866. Both of them are buried in St. Michael’s Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida. I’ve been told that Calvin was a builder in Pensacola, but I haven’t found any information about him or his life. I don’t know who his parents were.

Children:

1. Frank Devoy Henry (b. 15 Sep 1888, d. 5 Jun 1962) – He wrote for the Baltimore Sun newspaper for 22 years. He married Helen Land.

2. Austin E. Henry (b. Dec 1891) – He moved to Oregon.

3. Genevieve Amere Henry Lankovski (b. 8 Jun 1894, d. 11 Dec 1976) – She married Boris Serge Lankovsky. They lived in New York. Both are buried in Kershaw, SC.

4. Agnes Regina Henry (b. 13 Apr 1896, d. 21 Aug 1983)

3rd Generation (My grandparents)

Agnes Regina Henry (1896-1983). She married Troy Vance Hough (1897-1979), and they moved to Kershaw, SC.

Some sources:

Frank Sanchez, 1860 Census, Mobile, Alabama, pg. 51;

Margaret Sanchez, 1880 Population Census, Warrington, Escambia County, Florida,;

Pensacola City Directoory (:, 1894);

Early Vital Records of Pensacola, Florida. Pensacola, Florida: Special Publication of the West Florida Genealogical Society, 1988. Compiled and edited by Sidney Phoenix Thomes, Jr., C. G., compiler.
