My great grandmother was Helena Blythe or Blyth who married John Tombs in South Africa. I am not sure when Helena was born although she had my grandmother in King Williams Town in 1896. My grandmother came to Australia before 1920 and I am unable to find records if her parents came to Australia as well. Does anyone know anything of the Blythe or Blyth family in South Africa?

Thank you

Blythe/Hastins/Hastings

I have a John W. Blythe married to a Elizabeth Hastins/Hastings in 1900 Census IL, Coles Co. North Okaw Twp. According to the census they have been married 17yrs. married about 1883, she has had 3 children with 2 living. They are living with a David K. Stull and wife Josephine. If I read the census right, John and Elizabeth are in laws to the head of the family, David Stull. So I also take it that the in laws are Josephines parents. Josephine got married in 1876 around 22yrs. old, and using Hastins as her last name so John Blythe is her step-father and Thomas could be her step-brother. The funeral paper I have says that Josephines fathers name is Peter Hastins from North Carolina and that she is also born NC as is her mother. My problem is I cant find the family in 1910 or before 1900. I have the Blythe family in 1900 and 1920. So any help in what to do next would be helpful. Thanks

Sarah Blythe in Mitchell County, GA 1870

I am researching Marion Columbus Huey Sr. who was first enumerated in Federal Census Georgia 1870 with his brother in the southwest county Mitchell with the Sarah Blythe household. I have traced Sarah back to 1850 and she was in north GA counties of Cobb and Cherokee. I don't know the relationship of the Blythe and Huey families. I would appreciate any input.

Federal Census 1870 Georgia
Mitchell County
Camilla District
Dwelling 451
Sarah Blythe HOH age 36
Wm. R. Blythe age 15
Emelino Blythe age 6
Isaac Blythe age 1
Marion Hewitt (Huey) age 13
Harvey Hewitt (Huey) age 9

Notes: Marion Huey (SR) enumerated with surname Hewitt in error. The name of Sally Blythe is known per family history. The Huey family remained in Mitchell County for the next 50 years. I have no idea the relationship between Blythe and the Huey brothers or who their parents were.

Harvey Huey born 1862 married two Tucker ladies. He died
29 APR 1918 buried in Bridge Creek Baptist Church in Colquitt Cty, GA

Federal Census 1860 Georgia
Cobb County
M. J. Blythe GA
S. A. Blythe age 30 SC
W. R. age 6
Nicey Blythe age 60 SC

Federal Census 1850 Georgia
Cherokee County
Dwelling 354
Cummingham Blythe age 78
Nacy Blythe age 55
Mathew J. Blythe age 31
Sarah Blythe age 19

Mathew Blythe did not serve in the Civil War but apparently died by the 1870 census and the conception of his last son in 1868.
Blythe's of Allegheny County Pennsylvania

I am looking for help on the Blythe's of Allegheny County. Frank Pierce Blythe was born November 1854 in Pennsylvania. He married Mary E (lnu) and had seven children: Olie b. 1876, Gertrude b. 1878, Ellen b. 1880, Ella C b. August 1882, May C b. March 1884, Frank PIerce Blythe Jr. b. 06 May 1887 and Paul Howard Blythe b. 12 September 1891(2).

Frank Pierce (Sr.) states in the 1880 census that his parents are from Scotland. I have not been able to find Frank in either the 1860 or the 1870 Census for Pennsylvania.

Family history has it that he is the son of "Paul" who came to America in 1848 on the Minnesota. Paul is supposed to have moved into the Allegheny County area in 1852 with his six children.

This is my grandson's line through Paul Howard Blythe. I am trying to prepare a family tree for them and am hoping to locate more compete information! I have the obituary for Paul Howard and for his son, William T. Blythe. William married Joan Murnak/Murnack who preceded him in death.

According to the obituary, Paul H. is the father of twelve children: Mary B, Robert L., Patrica B., Frances B., Paul H. Jr, Corabel B, Richard J, F9frank OR Franklin). Pierce, William T., Donald, Helen and David L. They are listed in the same order as the obituary.

Anyone having any information on this line, please contact me via my email: nospamjuanitagoin@hotmail.com.

I am searching for my great great grandfather Samuel Blyth/e. I know he was in the British army, was posted to Ireland where he met and married Fanny McEvitie in Co Cavan, possibly Belturbet. He was posted to India but Fanny returned to Belturbet through ill health. Their son, also named Samuel, was born in 1854. I believe Samuel senior was English. I think he may have been born in the first half of the 1880s. I have no record of his death or what happened to him and Fanny. He was still alive when Samuel Jnr was married in 1881 and is listed on the marriage certificate as living and his occupation was 'soldier'.

Blythes of Cumberland Co., KY

I am trying to piece together this family line, but I can go about to my great grandfather, but not much further. My grandfather is James Demis Blythe (1911 - 1963), brother of Radford (1901 - 1977), Ellison, Dora Ellen, Lucy Jane, and Dolly. Their parents are Emmit Blythe and Ruth Ann Scott. Emmit's father was Jim (James) and Ruth Ann was a Cleary. I am really just starting, and haven't exhausted my possibilities yet, but I would appreciate any help. I can find nothing for Emmit or his father, but mainly because a third of the Blythes in KY were called James. I did find an 1855 land grant to James Blythe in the right location, but I can't really know if it's ours. To my knowledge the family all lived in Cumberland County, the town of Burksville, on the north fork of Kettle Creek. Where they came from before then is a mystery. The oral tradition suggests UK, of course, but nothing specific.

John BLYTHE b Sheffield 1870

Hi all - I am trying to find information on a John BLYTHE, born c1870 in Walkley, Sheffield. He married Eliza WILKINSON in 1898 in East Retford, Nottinghamshire. I am not sure how many children they had, but in 1912 they had my grandmother, Phyllis Mary BLYTHE. Unfortunately Phyllis died when my mother was a toddler, so we know very little of her family. I am very keen to make progress with the BLYTHE line and any help would be greatly appreciated. I think, though not confirmed, that John's father was a Daniel BLYTHE, born 1831 in Pitsmoor, Sheffield. Thanks in advance.

Copyright on Blythe information

Hi, everyone out there. Today I received an e-mail from another researcher of the Blythe family, of information that was found on a web site. It really bothered me, and I wondered what the rest of you think.

According to the information, either the genealogical company whose site it was on, or the person who posted the message, claimed a 2005 copyright on information that was written in a county history that was published in 1886.

Does just copying information out of a book give someone the right to a copyright, over 100 years later? If so, then we are all in trouble, if we copy any record, whether it is from a book, a courthouse, or a cemetery, etc., because someone may have a copyright on it, that they don't deserve.

Incidently, I had copied the same sketch from that 1886 county history quite a long time ago. Does that mean I cannot use it now, because someone decided to copy it and claim a copyright?

Pat Bristley, email-address: bristley@wcnet.org

I’ve just started researching my family tree. I don’t have much information on the Blythe family other than Joseph Blithe b. April 186? d. November 13, 1922. I have a deed to 4 lots in Fernwood Cemetery, which was purchased by Robert Blythe.
Joseph married Susan Iford (Eiford) @ June 25, 1885; Susan was b. March 1, 1861 d. February 19, 1921. Both are buried in Fernwood Cemetery.
Joseph and Susan had 3 children. Ethel Ray Blithe b. February 22, 1889 d. April 13, 1979 and Walter L. Blithe b. February 1887 (?) d. (?) the oldest I believe died when he was only a few days old; I believe his name may have been Joseph not sure of birth date or death date as of yet.
On the deed list a
Geo. Blythe transferred lot 197 on Nov.13, 1984 (not sure who he is.)
Jas. Owens transferred lot 198 Nov 13, 1984 (not sure who he is.)
Burial of Elizabeth Blythe July 12, 1914 (not sure who she is)
Burial of Susan J Blithe February 22, 1921 (my 2nd great grandmother)
Burial of Joseph Blythe November 11, 1922 (my 2nd great grandfather)
Ethel Ray (Blithe) Krewson is my Great Grandmother.
Can anyone give me more information on the Blythe (Blithe) Family?
I have a ton of Photos and willing to share them.
Linda
Am Looking for James and Harriet Blythe. They had at lest 2 daus. that came to America and settled in Butte County CA. They are Jeanette Blythe Howard and Emma Blythe who married Isaac Fletcher. Emma and Isaac left England around 1875. There was a reason for them leaving in a hurry but do not have reason documented. They left a son Arthur, to be raised by Jeanette in England. Twenty years later she also came to Butte County. She later married James F. McConnel. From their death records I have the following-Emma born in England on 28 Feb 1848. Father was James BLYATHE. Mother was Harriet
Fair unknown last name. Both parents born in Eng. Jeanette was born 15 Nov 1842 in Eng. Father James BLYTHE mother Harriet Fair unknown last name. There was some Haselbusches in Butte County b4 either sister arrived. Family knowledge said thar was another sister but have not found out yet. Can anyone help? I can send copies of the death certificates and trace the Fletchers to me as my maiden name was Fletcher. oops almost forgot- Isaac was a gaurd at Buckingham Palace. This is even stranger for he and emma to leave Eng.

My fraternal grandfather was Thomas Edward Blythe. I do not
know his bith and death dates or even where he was born. He died when I was very young. He was married to my grandmother, Irma Osborn. They had one child, my father, Kelly Fowler Blythe, born 2l Jun 1920 in Oklahoma City and died 7 Mar 1980 in Tulsa, OK. I do not know my grandmother's birth and death dates or place of birth either. My grandfather retired from the Rock Island Railroad (now de-
funct). I believe he was a telegrapher. My understanding is that he might have been married to someone else as my father said something about having two stepsisters. Would appreciate any info.
Mary Blythe married Gravely, and Thomas Drennen

Mary Blythe, born about 1789, in Tenn., daughter of William Blythe and Sarah Murphree. She married first Laban Gravely, in about 1804, then he died and she married Thomas Drennen, and had Walter Blythe Drennen. She died in Walker County, AL in about 1841. Does anyone have an info on this family? Gravely died in Rhea County, apparently, but I don't know if they were living there then. I'd really like to find the Drennen line in TN.
Thanks -

Anastasia "Stacy" Blythe/Samuel Dearmand

I have just received some information that after 15 + years of looking for the parents of my gggrandfather, Samuel DeArman, married to Sarah Ann Knox, were Samuel Dearmand and Anastasia "Stacy" Blythe. This had been told in the family for years but no one could document the information or say for sure it was true.

The child of Samuel and Stacy was Samuel DeArman (wish I know if there were siblings)
was b in what became Rabun Co., GA in 1815. He married Sarah Ann Knox in Pickens, SC in 1842. Their children were America, James, Marianne Texas, Rebecca Carolina (my ggrandmother) and John W. S. DeArman.

PLEASE, anyone with any information on this family please, please, contact me at my Email address: GKYoung72@aol.com. I would love to share information. I know nothing about the parents of my Samuel nor his siblings (if there were any). He was born in Indian Territory before it became Rabun Co., GA according to his Civil War Records.

Anxiously awaiting.

Geri Kennedy-Young
GKYoung72@aol.com
