Interested to find information about the Boa Family on Ancestry.co. I am particularly keen to be in contact with Hunter Boa, who has posted information on the web. I have a distant relative called Violet Boa , born in Scotland, who married a William Crosbie in 1934 and emigrated to Canada sometime later-possibly Saskatoon in Saskatchewan.

Hello Stewart Thomas Boa ,
My name is Joyce Jones and I am working on the family of John Simpson Boa and his wife Margaret Jane McCoy . My interest is in the McCoy side , but was very surprised to see the Boa of Lachute connection .

I do have a chart of the Boa people in Lachute . It is somewhat limited but I have found it to be very interesting . It was made up by a Boa/Gordon person . I would like to at least be able to update this Boa/McCoy family with names . not expecting dates etc . can we share here ?
sincerely Joyce

I just googled our family name to see what came up and I saw your entry. My name is Hunt Boa and my father was John A. Boa, Jr. and his father was John A. Boa. The John Boa you wrote about was indeed a champion trapshooter according to stories my father tells. His full name was John S. Boa and he lived either in Illinois or in Canada. You should call my dad if you are interested in finding out more that I may have left out. His phone number is 601-638-2304.
Good luck!

Hello,
Ran across your posting while looking for a Lachute message board. I have copies of two church records of the births of children of a William Todd and an Amelia Boa, one in 1867 & 1868. These were from the Lachute Methodist church records I believe. I kept them because I have Todd's in Lachute who had a son named William but am not sure if this is mine. Maybe this is your Amelia? Good luck in your searching.
Dawn

Andrew Boa's (1830-1900) parents were Peter Boa (1788-1871) and Christina Paton Scott (-Abt 1866). Peter's parents were William Boa and Catherine Scott (Abt 1765-). Peter had at least 8 siblings. Suggest you look at Hunter Boa's website or contact me for further family data. William Boa and Catherine Scott were my great great great grandparents!!

Debbie; I found you message about your family emigrating form Scotland to Canada interesting. My relatives left Scotland in the early 1800 and stopped in Quebec, Canada. My parents moved to Regina prior to my birth and then moved to Colorado. I am very interested in the Boa Family in Scotland. I am sure we are related in one way or another but I don't know enough about the Scottish relatives to do more than speculate.
Message to Pamela Boa Passmore. My name is Stewart Thomas Boa and I'am related to the BOA'S from Lachute, Quebec. Last year there was a Boa Family Reunion an Lachute and I found out then that I had more relatives than I would have thought. A short while ago, in talking to one of our cousins, I found out that you know a one Margaret Gordon. I met her last fall at the reunion and she is a lovely person. If the info., that I just talked about, is correct then maybe we should e-mail each other, but not through this message board (I started this message board).
Thank you, for your time.
BOA - DogTags - Found

Hello, I do alot of research in genealogy and also for our Veteran's. I came across this article that states two (2) U.S. Business men went to Vietnam and found they were selling our GI DogTags on the street for 18-19-cents each for souvenir's. The men purchased all they had @ that time; 680. BOA is on that list and there is no first or middle name. I am enclosing an e-mail addy for The Boa Family to view: http://www.msnbc.com/news/597048.asp If this Boa fits in your family tree I would appreciate an e-mail in return so I will know my time an effort has been well spent. Respectfully, ~~Patti~~

John Boa-Professional Trapshooter

I am doing research for an article on Trapshooting and John Boa is pictured in many of the 1917 - 1924 Ithaca Gun Catalogs as winning events in Canada and The U.S. using Ithaca Shotguns. I need to hear from a family member or anyone who has information about this man. Thank You, JTSR

Hello Stewart: I know this man was a renound Trapshooter from around 1915 to the 1930's and the old Ithaca cataloga have a picture of hum along with several trapshooters and under his name it tells about him winning events in The U.S. and all of Canada. He was a salesman for Ithaca Guns also . I have a high grade trap gun that wasa shipped to him in 1919 I think, without getting the document out to be sure but the factory invoice from that time shows several trap guns sent to him in care of a Hardware Store at Joplin, Missouri. We might have to do some research through The A.T.A. hall of fame at Vandalia, Ohio. You couild call if you like and ask for their Historian, either Millie or Ruth and I am sure they have him in their records. # 937-898-1945 . I would like to hear what you found out if you don't mind. Thank You James T. Tyson

John S. Boa

Hello Pamela: Thank you for E-mailing me about your uncle. I would like more information if you don't mind. I write articles for . " THE DOUBLE GUN JOURNAL " which is an international publication for discriminating sportsman. I own an Ithaca gold inlayed trap gun that was shipped to John Boa and would like more information for an article. I know something about him as being pictured in the old Ithaca catalogs and I have a factory invoice about my gun and several other high grade trap guns being shipped to him in care of a hardware store at Joplin, Mo. I know he worked as a salesman for Ithaca guns and represented them at trap shooting events from 1916 to up into the 1930's I think. I would like to have copies of any newspaper articles about trap shooting or personel write-up's about him and a copy of his obituary if you have it. I would also like to have a good color photo of the trophy you mentioned for the article and I would give you credit as having supplied it with the other helpful information. If you wanted to check up on my credability before doing this you could call THE DOUBLE GUN JOURNAL and speak to the Owner Editor, Mr. Dan Cote at 231-536-7439. Thank You for your help, James T.
Andrew Boa

Andrew Boa was born about 1830 in Ettrick. I can not find any proof of this other than the 1881 Census in which he claims this. He married Janet McQuater in Blair Atholl in 1852 and sired 9 children, most of whom died in infancy. One child, William Boa born in Ballantrae in 1862 is known to have survived. Any information about who Andrew's parents were would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I found all of your messages very interesting and thank those of you who replied to my message. I found it interesting that most of the Boas found their way to North America in the 1800's. I will tell you what very little I know. My grandmother was Janet Kathleen Boa born march 31,1893, to William Boa(Law Clerk) and Mary Abigail Boa(Green), in Edinburgh. My grandmother Immigrated to Saskatchewan, Canada in the 1920's, when she married my grandfather Leonard Lawrence Platts. Thanks for taking the time to help me out.

The only other information I have is that he last worked for Brunswick Balke(pool tables and equipment in Albany NY.Anyone having information about the Boa's that might be related may contact me by E-mail at walker@mendax.com
