Trying to confirm a link as there was an Elizabeth Morrison born in abt 1818 -1821 in PA whom married Charles Prager in Pittsburgh in abt 1840. In the "History of the Upper Ohio Valley" she mentions the following "Her grandmother, Mrs. Smea, was scalped by the Indians during one of their raids upon the settlements, but survived the injury."

Wondering if Elizabeth is a daughter of one of the couples listed..??

Elizabeth died on the 25th of March 1901 and is buried in Wheeling, WV. (Mt Wood Cemetery)
Boatman in Ardmore Oklahoma

My grandfather, Leonard Boatman was supposedly born in Ardmore Okalahoma in 1894 and the story is that his parents were: James Boatman (from Louisiana)and Mary Finnegan (from Vermont). His mother died within a year of his birth and his father died when he was 6 or years old. The story goes that after his mother died, that Leonard was raised by the Chectaw indians. His aunt Ellen Finnegan became his guardian in 1907-08 in San Antonio, Texas. Any information on Leonard and/or James would be greatly appreciated. My email is: abradell@yahoo.com - or post here. Thank you!

I can't believe this! I have a tiny address book that my grandmother used in the 1940s. Toward the back is a note I've never been able to use: "Great grandma Boatman Grandpa Wells mother." She may have meant Grandma Wells (Teressa Greer Wells). This is the third email I have sent to you because I keep seeing information in your research that points to a connection between our families. I am excited!
Sharon Agee Morrow
Arlington, Texas
ageelynn@sbcglobal.net
Boatman surname Georgia to Arkansas

James R. Boatman married Rachael I. Akin were married on 12 Nov 1868 in Cross County, Arkansas according to the marriage records I found in the Cross County Clerk's Office. J R Boatman and R I Boatman are listed in the 1870 Federal Census in Cross County Arkansas. According to the censuses, J. R. Boatman was born in Georgia. I found James R. Boatman buying land in Cross County, Arkansas in 1872. In 1880, R I Boatman [Rachael Isabelle Akin Boatman] is widowed and has a daughter M B Boatman [Minnie Bell Boatman]. Rachael married Sam Hinton. The marriage record calls her Belle Boatman. I have letters from Mrs. Belle Hinton that belonged to my grandmother and Belle's granddaughter by Minnie Bell Boatman Sharpe. Questions: I assume James R. Boatman died in Arkansas. I would like to know if anyone knows of James R. Boatman who lived in Cross County, Arkansas. How did he die? When did he die? Where was he buried? Is he the same James R. Boatman b. about 1846 Georgia found in censuses previously as a child in Walker County, Georgia, USA with George Washington Boatman as the father? Any help would be appreciated?

Hi, I just clicked onto your query. Teresa Greer Wells is my great-great grandmother. Her daughter Rachel Amanda Wells is my great grandmother. Her son William Wells Fisher is my grandfather. His daughter Clara Fisher Brown is my mother. I am in possession of the Wells family Bible with the genealogy handwritten by Teresa Greer Wells. I have been stumped on the Greer line for years and I would really appreciate it if you could help me tie it all together. I have that her birthplace as SC, but I don't know the exact place. I have the info on all her children and grandchildren
from the Bible. My name is Laura Brown Beck and I live in San Antonio. Thank you in advance for any help you can give mme.
Hi,
I'm new at this but am trying to follow the Anton, Mary Statz side of the family. They were my grandparents. My moms name is Ann (Nistler) Schoolmeesters. I'm trying to make sense of all of this as we have the old family tree done by Paul Mahowald and he lists a Joseph married to a Haberkorn as the father and mother of Aloys, which is different from other trees on here that list George as Aloys's father. If you have Paul's book we are on page 66

Please, no more messages to me on the search board. Write to me direct and I will attempt to reply. I am up early, early and to bed early, early also. Yes I know about Eve Dorothy Lenderman and have her photo. I just have so much stuff to put on Find a grave, that I just skip from one cemetery to another. I have been at it for only five weeks.
Dave Boatman
ddboatman@sbcglobal.net

In Simple Family Tree, my aunt put together a ton of Boatman lineage. I found one entry for Eve Dorothy Lenderman Boatman who died 12 Sept 1876 and buried in Rosedale, Park County. I didn't see that one on findagrave.com.

She married John Boatman on 13 July 1834 and lived in Patton's Mill, Vermillion Co. IN. Notes says she's buried in Old Boatman Cemetery.

First off, Thank you so very much for your military service!! I too am a veteran of the Army.

Second.. I will see if I can find anything. Did your grandfather just marry in Vermillion County because he lived there up until the time of his marriage, or did his wife live there? I ask because you said you are researching Parke Co.

It's nice that you help other genealogists. I know that I love getting help, and I am happy when I can help others. :)

Have a good day!!

My traveling days are over. I am 82 and WWII Navy Vet and all of my fun in genealogy is limited to helping others with their line. I am also looking for graves (on line) of all Boatmans of the English line. I am trying to show the links on Find a Grave between the families. Any help will be appreciated. I need only the name and location of the cemetery (County and State), the name on the grave and the dates. I failed to get such data while researching for the past 45 years. See www.findagrave.com and then go to Indiana, then Parke co., then to the surname Boatman. Find my name on one of the tributes and click on it and you can see the graves which I sponsor in just the past five weeks.

I have researched my lines, two wives lines, and there are too many to name. I am sticking to Boatman for now. Swadener is not a name that I have researched.

I have relatives in both, as well as Fountain Co.

Maybe we can find a common link:
Here are my names I am researching from that area...
JOHNSON
LOPP
ENNIS
TOBY
ROBERTS
Besides Boatman and Swadener.. who are you looking for?
I'm sorry Jeff,
I should have been more clear in my posting. Your grandparents wedding announcement just happened to be on the same page as my GGG Grandfathers obituary. I thought since I had the additional info, I would post it just in case it would help someone else. I'm glad that it did, but I have no further information on your grandparents. I wish you luck in your journey.

Lisa

I am currently researching an ancestor by the name of Robert Boatman. He was said to be born before 1755 in VA and died in 1833 in Sullivan Co., Indiana. He was said to be the son of Henry and Margaret “Sarah” Boatman.

From VA, he migrated to Pennsylvania with his parents where he settled on land that became Washington and Allegheny Counties, PA. After Sep 1789, he migrated down the Ohio River and settled in Kentucky.

He was married to his first wife Ann (between 1774 and 1805). This brings me to my specific request. I am looking for documentation that names his children, in particular, Henry Boatman, (born in 1775). I have a family history that names the children as:

1. Henry Boatman (b: 1775, d: aft 1820, m Milly Allegree 14 October 1796 KY)
2.	Simon Boatman (b: ca 1775, d: 1814)
3.	John Boatman (b: ca 1776, d: 1842, m/1 Elizabeth Hunter 1800, m/2 Mrs. Catherine Patton 1835)
4.	Robert Boatman (b: ca 1778, d: bf 1840, m Nancy Willis 5 Jan 1802)
5.	James C. Boatman ( b: ca 1784, m Amy Carver 1806)
6.	William C. Boatman (b: 1788, m Elizabeth Willis 1808)
7.	Jesse Boatman (b: ca 1789, d: bf 1840, m Sarah Hunter 1806)

I need an additional source that confirms that Henry was Robert’s son.

The Levi Boatman, that you mentioned having his picture, is my great-grandfather. I have the original photo and the one of his father, William, is hanging on the wall behind me, in it's original frame. I have the names and birthdates of all of William's 23 children, if you are interested.

I am seeking a descendant of William's second wife, Sarah Ann Ashbrook, and her 13 children by William. I have lost all that I knew, or they have died. I have lots to exchange.
