Edward Lee "Tucker" was her natural father. Her mother was Lestie Mullins. My mother in law's name was Ona. Lestie married Tom Mullins. Ona never knew much about her dad, very little in fact. She never knew if they were married or not. Ona remembered meeting two of his sisters when she was young but didn't remember their names. So they did know about her.
I had so little to go on searching was hard. There are many people in that area with nicknames and the same last name.

Anna, your post was so old I really doubted anyone would respond, so I was very surprised to see your reply. I don't know how I missed it before. What was your mother-in-law's connection to the Boatrights? Tucker would have been my great uncle. My grandmother, Tucker's sister, passed away in 1996, long before I started these searches. My mother told me about Tucker's death and Pat Boatright going to prison, but I wasn't able to figure out when this all happned. You've solved that mystery for me.

I am forwarding this post to my sister in law. I know she will be thrilled to learn this.

Thank you for this information.

Anna

Anna, I'm glad a found your post. Edward Lee was a son of my greatgrandfathers, Robert Pat Boatwright (Boatright). The family lived on a mountain farm in Wise County, VA. Family legend has it that someone killed "Tucker". Later on, Robert (went by Pat), who was a moonshiner, got the killer to the cabib under the pretense of a moonshine deal and killed him. Pat was sent to Richmond Prison for a fairly long time, getting out during WWII. The children were split up and put in foster care. Their names were: Minnie, Bonnie, Pearl, Minnie, Marvin, William, Hester, Henry and Georgia. I don't think Georgia survivied childhood. My grandmother (Hester) told me she died of burns when her dress caught fire from sparks from the fireplace. Pat was married to T. Alinor Culbertson who died shortly after the birth of her last child.

I was able to find the family in a census report of the family prior to Pat's marriage. Head of the household was James V. Boatright listed as a farmer, his wife Cindy Adams and several children. I think their children may have been Martha, William H., Mary, Laura and Samantha.

Anyone having more information about this family, I would love hearing from you.

I don't believe Merle Myrtle Doss, born September 1, 1906, married Thomas Frederick Boatright. He was married to Myrtle Summers who was born December 17, 1917. Myrtle Summers died in California on December 14, 2005. It is highly unlikely that Thomas married a woman 11 years older than himself (Merle Myrtle Doss was born in 1906) and that he married two different women named Myrtle. Thanks, Ron Boatright

Thank you for this response. I found my family in the village of Brockham, Surrey, about 25 miles S of London. They left London's East End in the early 1900's - no wonder I couldn't track them down !! Les H., Napier, NZ.

The earliest I have found was a
John Boatwright born 2/23/1607 or 1608 in Fressingfield.
He married Elizabeth Unknown in 12/30/1632 in Cambridge.
She was born in Cambridge in 1610.

My line got to Lexington County, S.C., then to Tallassee, Alabama in 1853, headed by my Great-grandfather James William Boatwright, Sr.
He was a gunsmith at the Tallassee Armory during the War for Southern Independence.
He bounced to Texas and back a couple of times and wives.
I would like to be in e-mail contact with really interested parties at
JHBoatwright@bellsouth.net

James Houston Boatwright, Jr.

Thank you very much. Sorry it took so long to answer. I have done quite a bit of research for several different family names in the past year or so. I checked out your information below, and Laurette is my grandmother. Curtis was her nephew. My father was in his 50's when I was born, and he died in 1969. My father used to tell us his mother died in New Orleans. His uncle and Aunt, Joe & Rosie Boatwright took him home from the cemetery. She must have died pretty young, so Curtis hadn't heard about her. The search is long, but oh so interesting. Thanks again!

I am doing some research for my half sister Sheila Kathleen Conner(now Schiller;dob was July 12th 1951)).Her grandmother on her dad's side was named Myrtle Moore. She died in 1972 at age 74.My half sister's father was named Charles Lloyd Conner. He was born 1-3-28 in Odessa Texas we believe.Sheila's last contact with him was in 1974.He had two other children with our mother Doris Mae Spencer.Son Charles Lyle"Chuck" Conner(dob 12-6-47)and Doris Ann"Sunny"Conner(now Maxwell). Her dob was June 2 1949 I think. Not sure on year. There was also a "surprise" child born June 2 1968 named Melanie Elaine Conner(my youngest half sister).Chuck and Sunny's last contact with Charles Lloyd was in 1968.Charles Lloyd had 2 sisters who were tall women.Wanda Boatwright and Kathleen Conner.Wanda had 2 daughters that Sheila was pen pals with as a teenager. The"girls"were Janice and Robin and they lived at Rural Route 1,Box 88-A in Plano Texas.Charles Lloyd may have had a relationship with a woman in Nebraska named Janie or Jamie or possibly Janet. They may have had a daughter they named Ann Conner. She was 18 months old in 1974.My sister Sheila was curious about her father's death which we think was in prison in either California or Texas. She is also curious about the cause of death(murdered?old age?uremia or other health issues?).She does not have a computer so I am helping her out.If any of this is familiar to any of you please contact me.Blessings all~Sharon Goemaere

Hi,

I'm trying to trace my grandfather's family. His mother Dorothy Ann Boatwright was born in Hackney, London in 1890. She apparently had 2 sisters but i can find no details. My mother thinks they were called Mabel and Gladys. Her parents were William (born c. 1864 in Alderney) and Ann Eliza (maiden name Back, born c. 1863 in Alnwick, Northumberland).

I can't seem to find any record of the Boatwright line any further back. No record of any siblings of either Dorothy or William or William's parents

I hope someone might be able to help.

Heidi
