Hi Donna,
My mother is Margaret, the youngest sister of Jack, who was the oldest of eight children of John & Anna Boback. Jack & your Nana rented one of the houses left in his father's estate. That was in the Hanover Section of Nanticoke. They ran a butcher shop. Yes, it is Pauline who lives in Naples Florida, my mom is in Tampa and they keep in touch.
I have a cousin in Mountain Top and another lives at Lake Wallenpawpack.
I live in Southeastern Mass. on the RI border 5 miles from Providence, RI.
I grew up in NJ and spent childhood summer vacations in Nantioke. I still have my Aunt's kitchen coal stove!
Paul

Hello!
Thanks for the message. OK, so then your Nana was Mary Pistanitch. Help me out here, how do you fit in? Your Nana's first husband Jack (John) was my mother's brother. My mother lives in Florida (She is 93) and she still corresponds with Olga or Pauline. I never met either. I know they are in Florida also. So, do you live in Binghamton?

I live in Massachusetts.

Hi, I'm not sure if we are related to you in any way.... My husband's father's name is David Boback; family origin is Hungary. I believe their family was raised in West Virginia, then moved to Pennsylvania, then to Ohio. David's siblings are Caroline, Ethel, Lillian, Joseph and Frank. All are deceased except Lillian.

My dad graduated from Nanticoke HS in 1938. My dad's family, Bensh, is from Nanticoke. They lived on Mosier Street.

Hi, I don't know if this helps you any. We bought our house in 1992 from Theresa E. Boback. We live in the Hanover Section of Nanticoke. She was married to a Andrew Boback he passed away on May 6,1956. Theresa passed away not long after we bought our house in 1991. They had a daughter who lives in Florida. She returned here once to see the house. If you think they are the people you are looking for let me know I will see if our neighbors know her married name or any way you can contact her.
Hello Leslie,
Thank you so much for your reply. I did forward the message to a cousin who knows more than I do about that part of the family. However, Andrew Boback does not show up in my info. My grandfather John Boback did have brothers though. We have found other Boback's at St.John's Cemetery, but can't figure out how they are related. It becomes harder as the older ones pass away. St. John's Church on Front St. was built on my gradfather's property and that was the family church. He owned the house next door. It is still family owned and is for sale. We were out there for a wedding two years ago and it was interesting to see the changes in Hanover. My favorite place is still there though, Pelas' Candy Store. I love their chocolate!
I hope your memories of Hanover will someday be as fond as mine are today.
Paul

Hello Anthony,
Great to hear from you. After looking through the family tree, I don't think we are related, at least at this point. Seems that a lot of unrelated Boback's settled in Pennsylvania, either due to connections, where they lived in Europe, or for religious reasons. Last year I went out there (I live in massachusetts) and looked in the church cemetery (Russian Orthodox) and found other Boback's that were not related, as far as I knew. They could have been cousins when they arrived in this country, but it is hard to figure out. Anyway "cousin", good luck to you. How long will you be in England?
Paul

Hi Bobby,
Glad to hear from someone/relative. Now, I guess we need to figure how we are related.
In the Hanover Section of Nanticoke John and Anna Boback are buried in St. John's Cemetery. I know that at least two of John's brothers are there as well as on of their sons (Jack). My mother, Margaret, is their youngest child and only surviving child. I was out there last summer to a wedding nad visited the cemetery and St. John's Church as well as taking some pictures of old relative's houses. Hope to hear from you.
Paul
