Well I do not have a Joel of any kind in my tree that I know of. I am sure he was not one of Mose children or even his grandchildren. best I can say maybe he was a nephew? I find Moses in the 1840 census but can find nothing before that. He is in the 1840 & 1850 census and then nothiung.
thanks

I don't have any info on Joel's family other than his fathers name (John Conrad Bobb), shown on his Army pension papers. We always knew him as Joel Bupp, but was fortunate to discover that he changed his last name from Bobb to Bupp after his return from the Civil War.

If you have any Bobb info to share, I'd love to have it to see if we can further his tree.

We have established two Bobb DNA Signatures in the Bobb DNA project. This means that you can save yourself a lot of time and effort from researching the wrong line if you can test a male Bobb descendant from your line and match him to one of these lines.
Kathi Bobb
bobbkat1@aol.com

I am descended from Nicolaus and Magdalena Brosius Bobb. My family still lives in the area of the Stone Valley Church. Have you discovered anything about the church records? If not, let me know, and I will try to find out what I can.

Have you been able to trace Nicolaus's ancestry any farther back? Do you know his parent's names? I have been working on this for a while with no luck so far. I recently sent for copies of some church records through the Berks County Historical Society hoping for clues.

Let's keep in touch if you are interested in researching this together.

Your Bobb Cousin,
Elaine Maurer Moran

I can be emailed directly at demoran (at symbol) verizon.net.
I can't help but wonder if this is one of my Bobb families. (I am connected to two.) My great grandfather's name was Gilbert Wesley Bobb. Could there be a connection to his great... grandmother Gilbert in his first name??

I know that his ancestors lived in Berks County, PA. The farthest back I can trace the line is to Johann Nicolaus Bobb and his marriage which lists that he was from Heidelberg Township. The marriage was 22 Jun 1773 to	Maria Magdalena BROSIUS (b. 3 Feb 1752, d. 9 Aug 1809); Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stouchsburg, Berks Co., PA.

Does anyone have the names of Johann Conrad's children?

I can be emailed directly at demoran (at symbol) verizon.net

Re: VALENTINE BOBB

I have a copy of Bobb family records, complied by a relative in New Orleans.(called the NO papers) Those records show that William Bobb married Mary Ann Bender. William Bobb was the son of Peter Bobb Jr. and his wife Maria Benner. Perhaps other researchers copied Mary Ann's maiden name incorrectly due to the fact that William Bobb's mother's maiden name was Benner. The NO papers list Maria Benner, born 1801(daughter of Peter Benner) married Peter Bobb Jr. on Jan.18,1823 at St. John's Evangical Lutherian Church in Philadelphia, PA. Death date of Maria Benner Bobb, Aug.9,1887 in Phila, PA. Peter Bobb Jr. died Aug.12,1857. Both Peter Jr., and Maria Benner Bobb were buried in Donaldson's Cemetery, Phila, PA.
Peter Bobb Jr. was the son of Peter Sr. and Abigail Maxfield Bobb of Phila. Peter Bobb Sr. was the son of Johann Jacob Bobb and Elizabeth Mulock Bobb. Records from St. Michael's &Zion Reformed Church(PA archieves 2 nd Series Vol. IX p.318) list Johann Jacob's last name as Pop at the time of his marriage. For some unknown reason Johann Jacob changed the spelling from Pop to Bob/Bobb. When Johann Jacob died court records who his last name as Bobb.

PA Geneological Soc. Vol.14,p.93 shows the marriage of Johann Jacob Pop marriage to Maria Elizabeth Molachin(different speeling for Elizabeth's last name in later years) on Nov. 20,1759, IN Phila, PA.

The NO Bobb papers list the first names of 12 children for Peter Bobb Jr. and Maria Benner Bobb.

I have recently begun doing research and I keep seeing Mary's maiden name listed as Benner. Does anyone have information that would help me confirm Mary Ann's maiden name?

Dear Judy, Your posting is old so you may have all the info you need, but I thought I might be able to help. Article on the 94th birthday of Adaline Mary Bobb Hagey can be found on Ancestry.com., it includes a 1936 five generation picture. Her first husband, John Mathews was a brother of my great grandfather Henry Clay Mathews(wife Martha Cudney Mathews)
Francis Asbarry Bobb married Caroline L Cudney a sister of Martha. She was born in Canada in 1850.
The two children who died young were children of Ann Amanda Jones and Ezekiel Cudney. Elias b.1856 in Canada and died in 1864 in Wisconsin. Alless was 4months and 16 days and died Oct. 3,1863. Parents and children are buried in Indian Creek Cemetery, Richland County Wisconsin.
The writing of your grandmother about building a church in Orion is correct. There are several old histories of the area that you can find on line on the Richland County Genealogy site.
Ann Amanda and Ezekiel Cudney were from Loyalist families that ended up in Oinario, Canada, they are my gg grandparents. I am following both families and have traced them back to England(Ezekiel) and Wales(Ann Amanda). At this point I have found no indian family members.

And nothing in the Rootsweb surname listings on him..

only connection I can think of - is this person must have known a man with the last name of Payne.. Payne's are my family which might explain why this bracelet was in my Grandparents stuff - But Who are they???

I am researching this name - what I found was a Riley E. Bobb born 5/12/1916 in Pa. and died 6/24/1978 in Almeda, Cal.

The reason I started researching this name was because I was going thru my Grandparents and Great-Grandparents Old stuff and I found a very Small Gold Bracelet with this name on the Front and "Dena 1939" on the back... I would like to find someone who may have a connection to this person...

For robert Kendall: Regarding Conrad Bopp that you are wondering about, I do not have any information on this person as such. The only Conrad Bobb that I have limited information on is that he was the son of John Conrad Bobb II and was born about 1783 probably near Middlesburg, Snyder County, PA. John Conrad Bobb II was married to Eva Fankhauser and his tombstone said that he had 6 sons and 6 daughters although I only have the names of 8. They were Jacob, Philip, Peter (Johann Peter) born 8-16-1781 (he is the one I descend from), Conrad (Johann Conrad) Bobb III, Barbara Bobb who married Jacob Walter, Eva Catherine bobb, Magdalena bobb who married John Lepley, and Susanna Bobb who married Jacob laber.
That is about all the information that I have. Not sure if this is of any help to you.
My e-mail is halndaisym@cox.net and my name is Harold Mundschenk and I live in Arizona.
I am wondering if Conrad Bopp was my Great, Great Grandfather. The time period is about right for him, if he would have moved to Fresno, and married someone with the last name Schiebelhut, then this would add a nice portion of information for me.

Hi,

Unfortuantely, no. The only thing my family has is a copy of the marriage record for Eula & Wm Monroe Eitel & her name was spelled Babb on the record. That said, I haven't seen the actual copy of the record to determine the actual spelling of her last name. You very well could have found her but I have nothing to compare it with to know for sure.

My Eula had a son in 1894 & we believe she may have passed away in 1896, although, again, nothing definitive to prove that. She MIGHT be buried in Bryans Mill, TX but we don't know for sure.

A Peter Babb married one of Wm Monroe's sisters so we were thinking that he MIGHT have been a cousin or something.

A volunteer in Cass County was unable to find anything definitive on her either.

I think she is an alien who crashed here & lived long enough to give birth to my Great Grandfather. LOLOLOL!!

Are you able to send me the information that you found?

Then again in 1850 with his wife and 9 kids. He was in the Civil War as was his son Issac. As far as I know, the nine children lived in Mifflin County area. There were 2 children born later, Edward and Henry who moved to Ohio.

I'm almost afraid not...I found there were two Charles Edward Bobb's who moved to Illinois...mine, b. in 1874 in Harrisburg PA, married Ella Myrtle Chandler. They lived in Decatur,Illinois - his father and family having moved to Dalton, Illinois before 1880. (I almost seem to remember that your Charles and Leah also lived in Decatur. Did they have a son, Theodore? I'm just going off "memory" now.) I'm really disappointed, as I thought for sure we could really help each other out; perhaps we can eventually. I have found no connection to Charles and Leah...even tho' I keep "running into them" in my searching. I'll of course keep on looking and surely let you know if I ever find a connection. Perhaps John W. had a brother who also had a son named Charles Edward. It seems everyone in families, had children named the same! To date I have not found much about John W. in early years in PA. In the newspaper article about Charles being called to Moline, it listed his address in Decatur, which was the correct address for them. If you think of something more I can do for you, let me know. Good Luck. LB
