Hello,
I am currently researching two different Bobbitt Families of North Carolina. My interest in these two family comes from members both marrying two Harris sisters.
The first Bobbitt I am interested in was Randolph Bobbitt. He married Elizabeth Harris, presumably in Warren County North Carolina. Information I have been able to find on Randolph has been very varied and unreliable.
Most says that he was the son of a John Richard Bobbitt and an Amy, some say she was Amy Alston, some say Amy Shearin, some say she was Amy Shearin Alston.
Most say that Randolph was born 1755 in North Carolina..the county is the only thing that differs, most say he was born in Granville co but I have also seen Edgecombe County.
Supposedly Randolph and Elizabeth had the following children:
Frederick Harris Bobbitt
John Bobbitt
Lewis Bobbitt
Nancy Bobbitt
Rebecca Bobbitt
William Bobbitt
I have also seen sources that Randolph and Elizabeth moved to Franklin County Tennessee while other sources state that both died in Warren Co. NC. Supposedly Randolph died around 1804..that appears to be consistent in all the information. Elizabeth was supposedly born on Jan 25, 1860 in Granville County NC, and died on Dec 30, 1850 in either Franklin Co. Tenn or Warren Co. NC.
The other Bobbitt Family I am interested in is the family of John Bobbitt
John Bobbitt was supposedly born around 1763 in Granville co. NC. He supposedly the son of Miles Bobbitt and Mary Martha Powell.
John Bobbitt married Patience Harris in Warren Co. North Carolina on Jan 16, 1789.
John Bobbitt supposedly died in 1837 in Warren Co. NC
Patience was born about 1765 in Old Bute Co. North Carolina
and apparently died in 1854 in Warren Co. NC.
John and Patience had the following children:
Rachel Edgerton Bobbitt b. about 1789
Frances Ann Bobbitt b. about 1790
John Bobbitt b. about 1792
Charles Harris Bobbitt b. 1797, d. 1865 Halifax Co. NC.
Winifred Bobbitt b. about 1800
Nancy Bobbitt b about 1811
As you can see, all that I have is unverified.
I would appreciate any additional information, including the children.
