Hi J;

Glad I could help you. My brother and his wife just got back from three months in Australia and he was going to try and do some research on the Bodie side while he was there. I have not spoken to him yet. I don't have any information on Catherine Bodie b1905 but if she lived in Winnipeg, Manitoba I should be able to find something.

I would be happy to share my information with you. My email is mprince@mts.net

Hi mj7675,
Yes it does look we do fit together.
My great great grandfather was John Bodie (1820-1889) who seems to be a younger brother to your George Bodie b1825. John married Margaret Brown in 1848. Of their children, my great grandfather was John Leslie b.1858 d 1930. He had 11 children with Ann Wright and later remarried Williamina Duguid (1926). My grandmother, Margaret b. 1878 d. 1953 was the eldest girl. She married Charles Unsted in London and emigrated to Australia in 1919. They had one girl, my mother.
My grandmother's youngest sister, Catherine Bodie b.1905 emigrated to Canada in 1927 and have found marriage cert to Andrew Wilson in 1928 Halifax, Nova Scotia..Any family photos about her have her living in Winnipeg, Ontario area. She had 2 girls - Edna and Clair. Have you any knowledge of them?
Their sister Mary Bodie b.~1891 was at some time in Chicago so the stories go.
Your tree has given me a lot to look at...thank you for your hard work
Happy to share any info I can
J

Hi,

It looks like I may fit into this tree also.
My great great great grandparents were Peter Bodie and Agnes Ironside. My great great grandfather was George Bodie born Aug 7, 1825 in Old Deer, Scotland, died Apr 1, 1914 in Carman, Manitoba, Canada. He came to Canada in 1854. There he married Elizabeth Jamison, she died in 1861. They had one child. In 1863 he married Harriet Jane Verral and they had 10 children. One of their sons John Charles Bodie (my grandfather) married Isabella Taylor in 1920 and lived the rest of their lives in Carman, Manitoba, Canada. This was Isabella's second marriage. Isabella's first marriage was to George Taylor and they had two children. Isabella's maiden name was Coull. She was born in Buckie, Scotland on August 27, 1883. John and Isabella had one daughter named Emma Jean Bodie. Emma married Harold Wesley Garnett from Carman. Emma and Harold had 4 kids.

Hi Alison,
I wish I'd found your message before I made a trip to Scotland last year.

It looks like we are related...my great grandfather John Bodie (1858-1930) had the same parents as William Boddie - so his elder brother. I have found evidence of a sister, Mary born in 1853 but have not investigated further. Do you know of any other siblings?

John married Ann Wright and had 11 children, the eldest was my maternal grandmother. She emigrated to Australia. I know her youngest sister emigrated to Canada and another we think to the US.

Would love to share any information with you, or other family members

JJ
Hi:
My 2nd great grandmother was Malisa Bodie married to Jesse Malone in Pike County Alabama. Malisa (Malisie) and Jesse moved to Rapides Parish, Louisiana from Mississippi around 1880. Their daughter, Malisa Jane Malone married to Zack Jones, is my great grandmother. I know that they had a son named John (married Martha Brady), they are all buried at the "Malone Cemetery" in Ball, Rapides Parish. Is this your line? If so we are having a Malone/Jones Family Reunion August 10th, Cotile Lake and you are welcome to come...we will have our history books with photos of the Bodie Family and Malone Family.

Hi Margie:
I looked under her married name, (Breidenbach). I have an LDS (Church of Latter Day Saints) genealogy library not far from me, and you can order the census registers and soundex files through them for $4/reel. If you're not sure whether there's one near you, their web site has all of the locations around the country.
The first thing to do, is determine the soundex equivalent for the surname you are looking for. Then, you order the year you want to see, in the proper state, for that soundex code. The beauty of this, is that you don't need to know what county you're looking for - it indexes the whole state. Then, you scan the microfilm for the proper given name, under that soundex code. What you're looking at, are the index cards that were written directly from the registers. They in themselves, will give you oodles of family information. Once you find the right card, it will give you the enumeration district, the volume, sheet and line that your record is listed in. It shows you the county, so you know which census register microfilm to look at. Then, you order it, and then get all the information once it's in. It sounds complicated, but really isn't. Just don't make the mistake I did the first time, thinking I could just go directly to the census register. You really need to access the soundex record first.
Judy

Seeking ancestors of Eugene Bodie b: 24 Jun 1852 in Canada?

Seeking info on the ancestors/descendants of Eugene "Jean" Bodie.I have very limited info on Eugene Bodie. The census records for Snohomish County and Cowlitz County Washington state he was born in Canada. Parents were French/ French Canadian. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1855. His death certificate states he was born in Wisconsin but I do not think that is accurate. He was single at the time of the 1920 census but had married Cora Emma Fletcher by the time my mother was born 2/29/20. It is not known if he was married before that. At some point between 1920 and 1930 the couple relocated to West Kelso, Cowlitz County, WA where they are both buried. Eugene died 20 May 1933. Cora died 31 Oct 1941. Cora was born in Wisconsin and married a Soper before she married Eugene Bodie. Eugene went by the name "Jean". Thanks for any help!
