Thanks Charles,
This is so interesting.I had a hunch that Augustus was possibly the son of one of the sisters of Myrtilla Bodman and that Apphia was his cousin. All will be revealed when I receive your information.
I'll e-mail you shortly.
Regards,
Keith

Dear Sheila and Keith

There ARE connections that link us all together. Email me and I will send you all the documentation (Charles.BodmanRae@adelaide.edu.au). Augustus was born in Monckton Farleigh in 1813. He was married in Chippenham in 1837. There is an interesting and intriguing story about his childhood which a cousin of ours has investigated. He was NOT illegitimate, but was baptised at Monckton Farleigh as Augustus WESTON, legitimate son of John Weston and Mary Bodman. Something tragic must have happened to both parents when he was a baby, because he was brought up as a Bodman - presumably adopted by his Bodman grandmother. The Bodman-Bear (not Beer) connection is clear. A Bodman wife bore 17 - Yes 17 - 'baby bears' at Derry Hill.
Charles
Hi Keith

I remember being in contact but Augustas Bodman is not related, as far as I have investigated, to any of the Bodman's in my family tree. Neither do I have an Apphia Witts or a Matilda Bodman.

You don't say when/where Augustas was born, or married.

Sheila

Hi Charles,
We were in contact many years ago and share the same great great grandfather Augustus Bodman.Do you have any information concerning his parents as there is no mention of his father on his marriage certificate. I noticed that the witness on that certificate, Apphia Witts is the daughter of Matilda Bodman so there is probably a connection there somewhere.Any information you have would be very helpful.
Regards, Keith Bodman

Dear Sheila

Elizabeth's father, Daniel Bodman, was an uncle of my great-great-grandfather, Augustus Bodman. They all lived at Derry Hill (Pewsham). There is a grave (and headstone) for Daniel and Hannah (Batt) in the churchyard of Christ Church, Derry Hill. There is also a grave and headstone for Augustus Bodman and his wife Jane (Bezant). I have a great deal of family information that I would be happy to share if the families are connected.

Looking for relatives of Francis John "Sonny" Bodman. Last known address Bowie, Maryland late 1990s, prior lived in California. He bore a child out of wedlock, John Francis Bodman, Nov. 1965 in Iowa. At the time was apparently married and another child also born in 1965 was Francis John (Jr.?). While living with last wife in Bowie, Maryland he had a son Allen and daughter Tiffany. Tiffany would have been born approximately 1983/1984. My children are sons of John Francis born in Iowa, with Sonny being their paternal grandfather. Any info on this family would be appreciated. Thanks!
Walter and Elizabeth were born in New Zealand and so were their children. This has just been rectified by my friend from a relative of hers.

I now need to know who Walter and Elizabeth were descended from (names etc) and if their parents came to NZ from another country or not.

Thanks
(^:^)

FOUND: Smith/Platt Family Bible from Michigan

My grandmother found this Bible in a trunk, but I believe the owner had no children, so I'm looking for other relatives. The Bible belonged to a Miss Abbie N. Smith, given to her by her grandmother, Abigail Platt. I want to find the descendants of the bible's owner and return the bible to the family.

These are some of the names that are written inside of the bible. If they sound like they could be your family, email me with your family history that would include them and how they are related to you (include as many dates and locations as you know). There are dates in the bible and I will check your information against mine. Thank you.

Moses Platt
Hannah Judson
Abigail Bodman Platt
Levi Platt
Elizabeth Platt Smith
Isaac Smith
E. Sinclair Smith
Abbie N. Smith
Byron Alonzo Smith
Le Roy Smith
Ralph P. Smith

I have a copy of a marriage registration between a Charles ROWBOTHAM and an Emily BODMAN from 1897. The marriage took place at the St Saviour Church in the Parish of Saltley in the county of Warwick on May 23, 1897. I was given this copy by an aunt who said they were related in some way. Does anyone have information on either of these individuals they would be willing to share.

I am not sure if the following will be of any use. My maternal grandparents were both named Bodman beofre and after they were married. My grandfather, Henry David Bodman was born Sept 2nd 1854 in Freshford, Somerset, England and my grandmother, Annie Bodman was born on January 13th 1868 at Potterne, nr Devizes in Wiltshire, England. They were married at Keevil church in Wiltshire on November 28th 1896. They moved to Birmingham, England after marriage. This was my grandfathers second marriage and as far as I recall, the first marriage gave 13 children and the second 6 children. Grandfather died on January 29th 1934 aged 79 yrs and grandmother died March 13th 1946 aged 78 yrs. It will take me a while to search the family bible for all relevant details but if I can be of any assistance to you, please e-mail me. I am also searching for any living relatives in the USA
