I am in central Illinois and have possibly corresponded with your brother. As far as I know there is not anything new on the Boehmer family but I have been researching some on the Klarman(n) family. Jacob had a sister named Phillipina who "came with them to America to help with the children". This Phillipina married a man named Luckhaupt and lived out her life in Columbus, Ohio. Her parents are listed as Jacob and Margaret(Zubiler)Klarmann on her death certificate. I expect that this Jacob is also the father of Jacob (m. Boehmer), but it is always possible that the mother is a different person. I also recently heard from another searcher who said that they have an Adam Klarman who was born in Rockenhausen and is probably a brother to Jacob and Phillipina. I have searched a lot for the time that Jacob and Phillipina came to the USA but have never found it yet. There are some books not available online that might have the answers. The information from the 1900 census shows that they arrived in 1859. They were married in 1855 in Germany.

I believe this is my Jacob and Philippina Klarman. They are my grandmother's grandparents and followed the same migration path as your post. I don't know much about them before coming to America so your post has some details I didn't know before. My brother did most of the research on the family several years ago and never could pin down the exact date they came over. I started researching a couple of months ago to see if I could find more but was often confused by the data in particular about Philippina. I guess I am not much help but I am curious to any know anything you find.

I don't have a site, but I am fortunate to have a very complete electronic geneology of my Schmidt Descendants. The author is Judy Moyna who is from Eastern Iowa. It is much of an improvement over my mother's old hard copy versions. Judy contacted me this past winter, and we had a lot to share. Her research was quite complete except for my great grandfather Edward Schmidt's wing and one other of 10 children of Johannes Schmidt. I can send it to you or perhaps you would like to contact the Judy.

I also have hard copy information on the Boehmers. My maternal grandmother was Catherine Boehmer, and she married Grandfather Fred Schmidt.

Judy's email address is <jmoyna@alpinecom.net>

He lived in Franklin Co., MO and there married Emily Twelker. August's father was Friedrich Boehmer, born 1818 in Schotmar, Lippe, Germany. He immigrated to St. Louis in 1846. His wife was named Henriette. I don't know how you and I might be related, but if you have anything let me know.

Lots of info on Boehmers in St. Louis, late 1850's. So very many Boehmers it's spooky. Still trying to sort them out. We know that they lived in north St. Louis in the 1850's, have some old census records. Our David is the son of Arthur Ernst Boehmer, (parents William Boehmer Hulda Schwiddie)all buried here in St. Louis. Let us know if you think we are related!!

Craig,
I am your first cousin, once known as karen souther. got married, then divorced, now reside in phx az. I legally changed my name to Rachel Natalia McDermott. Mcdermott being my childrens last name. Han was last located in Virginia Beach Va, he apparently lost a limb, leg, and was said to have lost his memory of all of us. that was back in perhaps the late 70's. He also apparently had gotten remarried with children as well. Maybe searching all Boehmer records in Va would help us both to find out more of him. The german records are hard to trace, especially being we lost half our ancestors to the concentration camps, and records were destroyed. other history would be under third reicht, for he was forceced into the legion there or die. your mother and mine also lost their home to the 3rd reicht and lived in others homes and not so happy places as well. Erika had told me a lot. I have not had contact with them in a good while. My choice for my own reasons.

down the line, ancestors were also jeweish, they converted to episcalpaline, or how ever it is spelled. they converted to escape the wrath of jewish hatered and spareing their lives and lineage.

perhaps we can share history and stories our mothers shared with us and compile things from there. you can also reach me at sleeplessphx@aol.com.

took a break from research for a while, but now am at it full force again. have at least 3- 4 volumes hand written on hand. maybe you can visit phx sometime in the future.

can you give or e-mail me info on the savarese line, i also have the souther line that goes back a good ways. barb harrington hold the bigger key to that side of the fence. she is nanny richies daughter.
hope to hear from you,
Rachel

Just sent you an email with a bunch of names culled from death certificates from the IL State Archives, during this morning's "foray into the microfiche" - BUT

Just in case somebody else reads this -
SEEKING A MALE (name?) BEMER, who possibly eloped with a married woman (gasp!) in the mid-latter 1890's, and this Mr. Bemer died (or at least the woman with whom he eloped listed herself as a widow, only married for 2 years) by the time of the Pontiac IL, Union Twp, Livingston Co., IL 1900 Census.

Am seeking this Mr. Bemer (spelling could be, and probably is phoenetic) to find any marriage certificate - on the marriage certificate (or any other documents) that would tell me more about the woman he married - ANNA O'DONNELL (nee Lynch), b. Ireland April 1857, came to the US/Fall River MA when she was 6 years old (1863/4?), moved to Chicago by 1880 (found as a housekeeper/servant in 1880 census), married O'Donnell sometime between 1880-1884; gave birth to 5 children, only 2 lived beyond infancy.

All I know is her ex-husband married on Oct 7, 1895, to a young girl from Germany - have been trying to learn what Anna was doing in all the years from 1892 through 1932 - nobody knows (who is still living)

thanks bunches!
Molly Kennedy
