Henrietta Agatha Kleffner, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Schmidtz) Boesch was born on March 14, 1919 on a farm west of Cedar Rapids, NE. She was baptized and confirmed at the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Etta attended school at St. Anthony’s Catholic School in Cedar Rapids.
On March 9, 1940 Etta was united in marriage to Alouis (White) Kleffner at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. The couple lived and farmed in the Cedar Rapids area. In the early 80’s Etta ran a Gift and Ceramic Shop in Cedar Rapids. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting, and playing music.
Etta was a member of the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society there.
On Saturday, July 26, 2008 Etta passed away at the Boone County Health Center in Albion at 89 years of age.
She is survived by her daughter Carolyn “Cookie” Gilroy and husband David of Grand Island, NE; 4 grandchildren: Mark Gilroy and wife Gina of Overland Park, KS; Jodi Heintz and husband Nick of San Antonio, TX; Rick Gilroy of Phoenix, AZ; Jill Ricono and husband Nick of Encinitas, CA; 7 great-grandchildren: Lindsey, Austin, and Andrew Gilroy, Gage and Fallon Heintz, Megan Gilroy, and Max Ricono; sister-in-law Ann Condreay of Columbus, NE; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Etta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; sisters Rose Micek and Catherine Ritzdorf; brothers Conrad, Joe, Tony, Lawrence, and Leo Boesch.
Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids with Fr. Ralph Steffensmeier officiating. Burial will be at the parish Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the Levander Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids with a 7:30 p.m. Wake Service.
