Bogard family -- website to check out

Hi all,

I am a Bogard descendant -- my line goes from Louisiana (early 1800's) back to Hampshire Co., VA (now WV), and from there _probably_ back to New York -- although I haven't made that connection yet. I'm currently trying to piece together all of the _documented_ information I can find on Bogard, Bogart, and Bogaert as far back as I can go -- I'm hoping that the benefit will be twofold, that I might be able to figure out my "missing link" and that in the process I might be able to help along some researchers.

I have begun to put together what I have data for, and have added it to my WorldConnect site. I am very eager for other Bogard researchers to take a look at it and contact me if they have additions or corrections -- I don't claim that the information I've inputted is flawless, but I would like to correct any mistakes anyone finds. Toward that end, you can either post a response here or email me -- my email is posted both here and on my website.

My own Bogard line is Julianne Bogard (m. Thomas McBride) > Jacob Bogard m. Marguerite Ritter > Cornelius Bogard of Hampshire Co. VA/WV m. Mary Patterson. From there, I make a _speculative_ jump (please, no one think this is proven! :-) ) that Cornelius is the son of Jacob Bogard and Pieternella Kuykendall, originally from Albany NY. From there -- IF this link is correct -- I've got the line traced all the way back to Holland.

I also have a lot of other collateral lines, which someone may be interested in and to which I'd be happy to add. Please take a look!

The site is:

http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=SHOW&amp...

Happy hunting,

Gordon Bonnet
Trumansburg NY

Julia Ann Williamson was mother of Nettie Bogard who later married Al Catlett. My grandmothers Bible shows she married David Ludwick and shortly afterabout 1872 he disapeared. The son James O. Ludwick was born Jan.9th. 1873 Later it is written that Nettie married a Tilton from or in Zanesville, Ohio.Dorothy Ludwig DeGarmo

Ida Adaline Armstrong Smallwood Bogard

I hope someone reading this long exchange from several years ago will be kind enough to help me with my research, if possible, into the Smallwood connection here. The 1900 Oil Township, Perry County, Indiana, census shows Ida Bogard, born July, 1866, age 33, head of the household, married 4 months, with 5 children, 3 still living, namely, Luella Smallwood, born December, 1885; Jessie Smallwood (son), born June, 1887; and Delphi Smallwood (daughter), born September, 1891. Delphia, age 9, attended the 2nd grade in November, 1900, in Union Township of Crawford County, Indiana. Perry County marriage records show Ida Armstrong married George R. Smallwood October 18, 1885, and she married Henry Bogart in Crawford County, Indiana, in 1900. I am looking for members of the Smallwood family and believe this George was a brother of my great-grandmother Sarah J. Smallwood. Can anyone tell me anything more about George, or about the children he had with Ida? I will appreciate any help with the Smallwoods, especially if someone knows when/where George lived/died, and where he is buried. Are the Armstrongs his only connection to Washington County? Thanks!

I am searching for any information on a Donald Bogard of Denver who would have had a brief marriage with my mother, the former Jo Ann Drollinger (born in Colorado in 1933) Her parents were Bruce and Ruth (Goodsell) Drollinger.
I am thinking their marriage would have taken place about 1950 or 1951. I believe they also had 2 children, a boy and a girl.
My mother passed away in July 2001. My purpose for finding someone who might know of her children with Don Bogard is to relate the health issues that were ultimately a part of her death.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Bogard in AR and TX

My John Bogard died in Shelby Co. TX c1850. He is enumerated there in 1850 with his wife Elizabeth, dau Barbary M (Barbara) b AR c 1844, dau Mary E. (my 2gr-grandmother)b TX 1846, son Cornelius, b c1847 and son William Jackson, b 1850. John Bogard apparently died soon after the 1850 census, and Elizabeth married J. T. Burleson, brother of the wife of John Bogard's brother Cornelius, also found in Shelby Co TX in 1850.

This Cornelius Bogard married Caroline Burleson in St. Francis Co AR in 1839. Cornelius' family is living next door to James Burleson in St. Francis Co at the 1840 census. In Cornelius family is another adult male of an appropriate age to be my John Bogard.

I would appreciate any help in identifying Elizabeth who married John Bogard 1840-44, possibly in St. Francis Co AR.

I am searching for a Marie Bogard who is listed in church records as the mother of Samuel Derosier born 1818 in St. Landry Parish, Louisiana. I have only found one Bogard family there at the time, that of Jacob Bogard and his wife Marie Johnson from Virginia. I don't think Marie Johnson Bogard is the mother of Samuel Derosier because of her age. It is possible that Samuel grew up in Rapides parish rather than St. Landry. Please contact me if you have any information or ideas I could pursue.

Jacob Bogard m. Neeltje Kuykendall

Does anyone have a complete list of the children of Jacob Bogard and Neeltje (Nelly) Kuykendall? I am looking for a list from a will (or some document like that) that I can be reasonably sure is complete. I suspect that my ancestor Cornelius Bogard m. Mary Pattison/Patterson was the son of Jacob Bogard and Neeltje Kuykendall, and I'd like to either find support for that theory or else rule it out.

Jacob was b. in Albany NY in 1706, and was the son of Cornelius Bogard and Evaatje Hornbeck.

Thanks for any help you can give.
Cheers,

Gordon Bonnet
Trumansburg NY

Obit - BOGARD, Abraham 8/23/1833

While scanning transcripts of old newspapers in Liverpool England I came across the following obit. Probably carried as a curiosity because of the old age. The website is -
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~liverpool/main.html .

"Obituaries August 23rd 1833

DIED

On the 14th of June last, in the poor house, In Maury county Tennessee, Abraham BOGARD, being 118 years and 4 days old. He never drank spirits, nor was sick, nor took medicine of any kind. He was once bled out of curiosity. He retained the faculties of hearing, seeing, and memory until the vital spark took it's final departure. He was born in the State of Delaware."

Hope this helps someone.
David Knowles

Searching for George A Bogard b. 1788 VA and Elizabeth Stringer b. 1785 VA.They were my ggg grandparents. My line comes from their daughter Edna R. Bogard b. 1834 KY who was married to Henry Wigginton. (Edna was his second wife) I have a lot on the Wigginton's - back to 1630 England, but not much on the Bogard's or Stringer's. I found them on the 1850 Bullett Co. KY census, and a KY marriage date of Oct 24, 1812. Any info on these families would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Paula@ase.com
They had three children that I know of; Trill (1819), Peter (1820) and Priscilla (1820). Priscilla, who is my ggggrandmother, married Elisha G. Cropper in 1841 at Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, LA. I have this information from copies of entries in the Bogard/Cropper Family Bible. Let me know if this is at all familiar? I have more--Sandy

We are looking for William Bogard who married Catherine Matney on a wagon train headed for Chico, Butte County, CA. He was known as "the Frenchman". After his death in1872 and Catherine's in 1874 their four children were sent to MO to be raised by relatives. There is a possiblity that William's father's name was Alexander and/or he could have come from Canada rather than France. Any and all help appreciated!!

Doris Bogard/Boggard b. Jan 1904 was adopted by Maude Zella Davis-White and her husband, Fred Orr White. The family was living in Sabula, Jackson County, Iowa at the time.

As far as I can tell, Doris had the surname "Boggard" when she was adopted. However, it is slightly possible that she married a Mr. Boggard.

Her adoptive mother, Maude Zella Davis b. 1880 in Iowa. Her adoptive father, Fred Orr White's family was from Ohio.

I would love to find out about Doris and any descendants or birth parents.

Please email me at sudavis@home.com if you have any information or suggestions.

She died in Petersburg,Menard, Illinois, 5 feb., 1867.

It also appears from other sources that Judith Heliene Antonia Toutant Bearegard married Robert Faith and that Judith also died 5 Feb.1867 in Petersburg Illinois.

We really need to straighten out this mystery for our family. The children of Sarah and Judith are listed as the same, they are Luviney, Elizabeth, George, Mary Ellen ,Robert, Silas Burns, and James Beauregard. All the children were born in Indiana.

My grandmother was Ora Narcissus Faith and we believe ,as she told us, that her grandfather was Silas Burns Faith.

If you can help us with this family mystery we would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks Toni e-mail me at eebedah@excite.com
I have a Louisa Bogard b.approx 1833 married our grandfather George Warren Harl on 1 Feb, 1853. Her two children named Marcus Layfayette b. 22 Jan, 1854 and John Clinton (our grandfather) b Apr 1855 died 1928. Both born in Hardin County Ky. I found a census record for 1860 Hardin County KY in Elizabethtown for Alexander Bogard (23)and Mary P (24). ALso lists a Marquis L (28) and Nancy (18) with Eliza (3) and Susan (1). Because of the unique name of Marquis I feel may tie into my family. I think Louis may have named her child after this Marquis above but don't know how or if related. Can anyone help?
Found a Nicholas Bogard on 1790 census which
they used 1783tax schedule because the census was lost or burned.
Does any of they families have a Nicholas Bogard in their family tree's.
He would be the oldest I've found in Kentucky so he should be listed on
census maybe in Virginia. More research I guess.
