Bogardus family in Fishkill, Dutchess, NY

I am looking for information on descendants of Robert Bogardus (1733-1825) who lived in Fishkill, NY. He was the son of Cornelis Bogardus III and Catharine Tudor. I believe Robert Married Ann Graham and possibly Catharine Philips (m. 1758). The family lived in Fishkill and Robert had one daughter Mary (b. 1768) who married Joel Green Jr. (1762-1837). Joel was the son of Joel Spencer Green Sr. and Chloe Tucker.

Any information on this branch of the Bogardus clan would be greatly appreciated. NOTE: This is not General Robert Bogardus (1771-1841).

Here is a sample of one of the affidavits. Elsie actually has seven lines so has seven affidavits:

State of New York,
County of Saratoga,
City of Mechanicville

Pedigree of Elsie Scrafford Mosher, an heir to the Estates of Anneke
Jans Bogardus and Van Voorheis and Harlem Estates, situated in New
York, U.
How do I publish the legal documents?

Here is a question I am posing to Bogardus researchers. This has to do with a couple of the lawsuits against the Trinity Church that we're all so familiar with. My library has acquired copies of the lineage documents prepared by the lawyer Spencer Gardiner for his lawsuit he filed against the Trinity Church. In what I call the sibling notebooks he shows the lines of descent from Anneke Jans to each person who joined in his lawsuit.
Secondly and more recently we acquired the affidavits from the lawsuit brought by the lawyer Frank A. Travers against the Trinity Church. His cache of papers consists of sworn and notarized letters showing the line of descent of everyone who joined onto his suit, as well as the Power of Representation in some cases. For example Grace E. Wolever of Lansing, Michigan shows her descent of nine generations from Anneke, through her son William. Where as Elsie M. Mosher of Mechanicville, NY has sworn affidavits from seven lines of descent from Anneke.
Now both sets of papers link up to Webber and the King of Holland which we know is incorrect, but the later info looks like most of it could be accurate.
The question I have is what is the best way to post this on my website (www.chaseyourtale.com)? Scans would be nice, but the memory usage would be way to high. I am considering transcribing it all, as text takes up little memory and it is the easiest for a search engine to search. I am figuring listing the people involved in the lawsuit alphabetically. I think there will be two sections, one for Spencer's lawsuit, another for Travers lawsuit.
We are talking hundreds of individuals who joined onto each lawsuits, so this will be a large unique database.
There are a few things I won't do. I won't put it or offer it to another site, because my sites are my babies and I love unique content. I also don't want to merge it all together in gedcoms, as that ruins the validity of the source.
Does anyone have any suggestions or other ideas? What don't you like about the way I want to present it and what improvements can you suggest that are within my technical limitations? Or is this something you don't think is worth the bother? Do ou think it might be a brilliant idea?
Okay...discuss.
Would you have any information about Grace Celeste Mazzucco born around 1930 on Staten Island? She married Gordon Emery and had a daughter Grace Emery? I found several Mazzucco families on the 1930 census there but Grace wasn't listed nor a similar name like Grazia. Her daughter would like to trace her roots but Grace Celeste and Grace, her daughter, always called her mother Nonna. Grace, the daughter, isn't sure how cousins are related and who are first cousins and who are second cousins on Staten Island.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
Amie

Where was Anna (Bogardus) Ross with children Alice 5 and John 2 in 1900?

I have located 1910 and 1920 census records from Worcester MA that show Emanuel Burrill with wife Anna and stepchildren Alice and John. Alice was born 1895 and John 1898; their surname is shown as Ross and Anna didn’t marry Mr Burrill till 1901 (married 9 yrs in 1910).
=
Anna, Alice, and John should be somewhere on a 1900 census record, with or without the children’s father – Alice would have been 5 and John 2. I still haven’t found a trace of them. They may have been using a different surname. Anna might not have been married to their father; her maiden name was Bogardus, possibly dau of Cuyler Bogardus b 1828 NY and Emma Craine b 1844 NY. I have searched under surnames Ross and Bogardus and tried lots of spelling variations.
=
Any ideas?

I'm wondering if you would be willing to share the 5 pages of the Williams Family Genealogy. Samuel Lewis and Margaret Slater are my husband's 4th great grandparents - therefore the Williams family is my husbands family also. Secondly, I'm wondering if you ever found out if Samuel is truly related to Meriwether Lewis of Lewis and Clark. Any info you can share about the Williams or Lewis family would be greatly appreciated.
juells64@hotmail.com

I have only sketchy information about Joseph. His name was Joseph P. (or T.) Moreland. He was born about 1827 in either OH or PA (according to census records). He married Nancy Jane Burger in Butler County, OH in 1853. They had 3 sons:

Corwin G. (b. 1854)
Louis F. (b. 1856)
Henry Lincoln (b. 1860)

I find the whole family in Reily Twshp., Butler County, OH on the 1860 census. I believe (but I'm not sure) that it's my Joseph living w/ the Bogardus family in Hamilton Co., OH in 1850.

After the 1860 census, things fell apart. Joseph disappeared for several decades, but Nancy Jane and the boys moved to White County, IL in the early 60s. She remarried, but the boys were all "farmed out" to different families. Surprisingly, Joseph shows up on the 1900 census living with son, Henry. Joseph died in White County, IL in 1808 or 1809.

Anything sound familiar? You can reach me at debbiall at yahoo dot com.

Debbi

I have a Moreland Family book I'm actually looking at right now that was compiled by another descendant of Edward Traver Moreland and it has a ton of information. Including pictures, census records, and newspaper articles. Would he have been Edward Traver's son?

Hi Julie, I have Edward Traver Moreland and Rachel Johnson in my line as well. I have their children on my tree, but I do not see a Mary Anne. Do you have a tree that I could look at? I can invite you to mine as well. I am a descendant of Edward Traver and Rachel Johnson's son William Harrison Moreland. So I have alot of information and pictures of his line. I did not know they had a daughter named Mary Anne. William Harrison had a daughter names Marth Anne. I have her picture in my tree. I hope to hear back from you soon. Trisha Schultz-Peller

Maria Bogardus and Joseph Salisbury

they had a daughter Anna who married David Byington. I think Maria Bogardus was the daughter of Henry (Hendrick) Bogardus. Anna and David had a daughter Mahala who married Robert Bell. These are my ancestors that I am trying to trace back. There is also a listing that Marie Bogardus was the daughter of Conrad Snyder and Susan Cook. Any help would be appreciated.

This law suit has been going around for almost 200 years and if your family got money it may have been from some source that money was gathered to fit this. My husband also is a 8th great-grandson of the Dommine and his wife Annke Jans. We have a copy of the will and it is from 1924 when a certain group were trying to get money. Your best bet on this is to look at as family histroy and enjoy the historical pursuit of genealogy. Both Rev. Bogardus abd his wife have become figures of history and most of the people I have found who are descended from them just enjoy the historical parts of it. A William Bogardus has proven so much of the hype around this couple as false. Their are many good sites on the web which will tell you the true story of the famous couple.
Good luck if you think that you are going to come into a wind fall from the Trinity Church!
He was my Grandfather and some of my family members over time have received compensation for the property that was taken from them by Trinity Church. The rest is just a story? I think it is time for more reparations from the state. That seems to be the big thing now. We could clain eminent domain and get the 62 acres back or at least draw rental income from there. Thanks for your reply.
