This may be too late but I am researching Huldah Bogue too--she was my great-great-great-greatgrandmother. I know that she was a Quaker and was banished after her first husband (William) died and she remarried one of William Smith's relatives. I do not have any information that you are requesting but am still researching her.
Bogues from Cooneen

I am trying to locate any information regarding my Great Grandmother Elizabeth Bogue, daughter of James and Bridget Bogue. I believe that James and Bridget together with their children emigrated from Cooneen which is in County Fermanagh. I also believe that they left from the port of Moville between 1860-1877 and ended up in Providence Rhode Island. Any information would be much appreciated. Some of the sibling of Elizabeth are:Hugh, Jane married to a Daniel Ford, Agnes married to a John Bennett. Other possible siblings are James S., John, Michael, Owen and Peter.

FTDNA is repeating its sale through December 31.

This is a chance to find out if the different Bogue branches in Ireland, North Carolina, Connecticut, London, and others are related. At this point we only have a representative from the North Carolina line.

We would need male Bogue's to test at least 37 markers.

FTDNA has a special offer
Y-DNA37 for $119 (Regular price would be $149)
Y-DNA67 for $199 (Regular price would be $239)

Here is a link to the Boggs/Bogue page.
Hi, my great granny was Mary Bogue born approx 1850 in Co. Tyrone. She married Peter O'Neill approx 1867/9. I have no other info on her birth or marriage but she lived in Belfast in 1869 when her 1st child was born. The children were called Catherine, Mary,Peter & Francis, all born in Belfast & all Roman Catholic. She may have had a sister called Biddy Bogue as Biddy was listed as a sponsor at 1 of the baptisms. She lived in Belfast until her death in 1913.
1 of my aunts told me that my granny would sing 2 her children - Augher Clogher Fivemiletown, 6 mile cross & 7 mile round etc...She told her children thats where she was from so I am looking in those areas 1st.
If u think u can help, please get in touch.

Peggy, I apologize for not specifying that the Josiah I meant was Deborah Nicholson's husband. If I've entered your info correctly into my FTM, you're my 6th cousin! My line is Josiah & Deborah Nicholson Bogue, their daughter Miriam Bogue & Joseph Guyer, their son William Guyer & Mary Dillon, their son William Dillon Guyer & Sarah Beard, their son George B. McClellan Guyer & Ida Belle McComas, and their daughter (and my grandmother) Mabel Guyer. All Quakers. I've always been amused that my pacifist GGFather - and his brother "Sherman" - were named for Union generals. Wm. Dillon and Sarah Beard Guyer left Guilford, NC for New Garden, Wayne, IN just before the Civil War. However, one of his brothers headed instead for TX and ended up serving as an officer in the Confederate Army. According to a newpaper article I found, he was given up for dead until a chance reunion with a third brother nearly 50 years later. Love discovering these long-forgotten family stories. By the way, did you know Josiah's GMother Hannah Phelps was born in Salem, MA in 1665? Thanks, again, for the great info and I will definitely follow up with the History Place!

Hi..I have no idea how we are related , but I'm sure we are. The history that I received shows the first Bogue appeared in Scotland in 1475 so we go back quite a ways. I don't know which Josiah you refer to as there were several, but it says in this report: Josiah Bogue and Deborah Nicholson had six children. Josiah can be called the father of the North Carolina Bogues, as most of them today are the descendants of Josiah and Deborah.Josiah's oldest child was Joseph who married Mary Newby. Their oldest child was Samuel married to Elizabeth Morgan, and Samuel is my gr gr gr grandfather. His son Benjamin is father to my gr grandmother, Huldah who married my gr grandfather, Major (that's his name)Foster. He was 51 years old when my grandfather Dan Foster was born as Huldah was his second wife. If you contact the History Place , they will be glad to send this info all printed out from a printed page in a book. Might send them postage though for the return. I think I did although it fit nicely in a 6x9 envelope. Let me know if I can help further. I sure was glad to get this info when I did. I just happened to read a Nikolas Sparks book, and he mentioned Bogue Island in it, and I knew Huldah's parents were from North Carolina from a census I had. That was all the info I had on her. Really lucky..huh?
Peggy

I, too, am descended from Josiah and Deborah Nicholson Bogue through their daughter Miriam Bogue Guyer and her husband Joseph, and through Miriam and Joseph’s son William Guyer. “My” Quaker Guyers ended up in Wayne Co., Indiana. I have done a moderate amount of research on this family and would be interested in hearing from other descendants. I am curious about the reference to “The History House” at Moorhead, NC. I am unable to locate any information about this source.

Only males have the Y-DNA. You could participate, but your father, brother or Boag uncle or cousin would have to contribute their sample. If this is a possibility, let me know. Their particpation would be a great addition to the project. We have one Boag from Australia in the project.

Frank Boggs
tger2498 at bellsouth.net

Have you got to be male to participate in this? I was a Boag by birth but I am female. I have traced my Boags back to 1700ish with James Bogue and Margaret Robinson and there my trail ends. I have found lots of variations of Boag eg Boag/Boage/Bogue. Think my final links are scotland somewhere

Thanks

Extensive research by a Bogue descendant and her mother years ago in Iowa
who verified everything by driving to Ky, getting death certificate and
birth that where available. Going at local court houses for documentation,
visiting grandchildren, great grandchildren, 3rd gr grandchildren of Elias and Rachel to get their info to put in family tree. This woman and
her mother have traveled the United States. Even came to my small town in
OK and researched and got all the descendants in my family. I don't know
what they got From the Virgil Bogue book. She gave me a Ged.com file but I
don't pass it around because she may not want me to. She said when Elias
died in Tennessee of sickness while stationed there during the civil war
when his clothes were returned to Rachel, the family were afraid they would
get whatever he had and burned his uniform. Are you a NC Bogue family?
Elisha may be also known as Elihu. I'm sure spelling is hard to read in some census etc. Wondering if you are still responding to Bogue message list. Elihu born 1799 was married to Arvilla Flanders born 1802 not showing where they were born but CT makes sense. The children they had from my info were: Thomas, Virgina Melissa, George Washington, Annie, Taeni, Nathaniel E. (Nathan), Willis, Acenith, Oliver Perry (Born May 20, 1835).

John Bogue born 1763 in England married Asenith Rogers of East Haddam CT born 1765. They had Asenith, John, Wm, Elihu, Rebecca, Deborah, James and Elias.John died 1834 and is buried in Jenkins Cemetery, Upton, LaRue Co. KY. Asenith died in Ohio, buried in the Burba Family Cemetery Adams Co, OH. the story is John liked KY and left Asenith to go back there. John was in the American Revolution and received a pension for that. He was very young. This info was given to me by a lady whose mother joined DAR regarding the service of John Bogue. You knew that Elias, Sanford's father died in TN while serving in the CW for the Union. Hope this helps. Do you have any pictures of Rachel Hart or Elias? Also I have Hester (Hettie) as a sister of Rachel Hart but not listed as a daughter of Elias Bogue and Rachel Hart so don't know what to say about that.

Brenda, perhaps I can help. I am a Bogue genealogist and I know Al Post as well. When he posted in 2004 the father of Margaret Bogue, he was incorrect. Her father was Horace H. Bogue. And yes, she and Ernest Post had one child, Harold Horace Post, Sr. who had 14 children with his wife Florence Helen Fox..so you must be the daughter of one of those 14 children. Al is a descendant of Ernest Post and his second wife. If you would like to share info, please email me at jawatrous@aol.com.
