BB was in Newton County living with Alexander's family in 1870 and 1880 Census. I think he died also in 1880.
What do you have that shows Alexander and Eli to be brothers? I believe that they were but cannot find the direct tie.
How much of B.B.'s ancestry do you have?
My Grandmother was Sallie(Sarah) Ruth Bohannon/Morgan, daughter of Levi. Levi was the son of Eli.

BB Bohannon, wife Rachel and several children were in Newton County GA in the 1850 census. Alexander, brother to Eli, died in Newton Co in 1897. I've done little research on Eli's siblings yet.

Hello CBlack

I do believe we are related indirectly from some time ago. I was heavily into Ancestry back in 2005. I have been thinking about joining again but so much has happened to me over the past 4 years that I doubt I could devote the time to follow up...

I also found out that many of the people did not know how to spell and that is why there are so many different ways to spell Valley. I also learned that Delphise can be spelt as Dolphise.

Delphise was born in June 1856 in Canada probably Quebec.
Lucy Blair was born December 1855 in New York it did not specify State or City.

I do not know where or who were Delphise's parents.

My search turned up from the 12th Census 1900 U.S.A.: Delphise is shown as a farmer of (43) and he and Lucy (44) had 3 children at that time Maggie (18) (House Keeper), Myron (15) (Farm Laborer) & Emma (11) (at school).

Myron moved to Winnipeg,Manitoba,Canada at some unknown time. Somewhere along the line he married Rose Regina Kraus. I have never attempted to find out where she/parents hailed from, but with a name like Kraus I could spend my life trying to find her birth place.

So Myron & Rose lived in and around Winnipeg, Fort Henry and other places that my father cannot remember (he is 91 now). They called my Dad Myron Earl and his brother Allan.

We knew the Bohannon's fairly well as I used to go down to the farm right on Lake Champlain for my summer holidays. Oscar and Anna Bohannon had two girls, Jean and Nancy. Both girls died before their Mom, far too early in life. The last time I saw Anna was May 23, 1993 on my honeymoon to the girl I had met at age 11. We were 50 when we got back together; she is my 3rd wife and the rest is history.

I have a whole lot of stuff all on paper. My computer is very fast and I have memory coming out of my ying yang. I have over 330 gb of memory plus an external drive with 320 gb.

I could scan all the pages I think you might want or if you prefer, I could photo copy them and mail them to you, it is your choice. My email address: porky4@rogers.com and I live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Regards
Doug

My Grandmother was Almira Valley, she was married to Stanley Aime Paquette. My mother was one of 10 children, all born in Alburg Vt. Almira's father was George Valley and her mother was Nellie Gadbois. George Valley's father was Delphise and his mother was Lucy Blair. George had a sister Lena born 1895 and a sister Emma and I have a brother frank. Hope this fits somewhere. Do you know who Delphise's parents were

Looking for Thomas Jefferson Bohannon

I have found his death certificate in Houston, Harris County, Texas. It shows that he was born 07 Nov 1886 in Kentucky. On his death certificate it says that his parents are unknown. Any information would be appreciated. I have several letters from him dated in the late 1940's and 1950's. After that there is nothing and not much but the letters before that. My great-grandmother, Mettie Maude Loyd married him and sounds like she left him and took their two sons. Doesn't sound like there was much contact after she left other than the letters. My grandfather Loyd Harvey (or Harvey Loyd) Bohannon was killed in a motor vehicle accident in 1955, that is about the last letter that I have. My father didn't get much information and my grandmother refused to talk about my grandfather or his parents.

Children of Herman Wilson Bohannon and Patricia Ann Earls

I am trying to locate the children of Herman Wilson Bohannon, of GA and Patricia Ann Earls, of Ohio. The couple may have married in Ohio and had 5 children, 4 born in Ohio and 1 in Texas. For some reason after moving to Texas, the couple split up and the children were placed in a Children's Home. The 3 oldest were foster children and supposely never adopted, but the younger 2 were adopted. Their last known residence was San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas.
Children:
Forrest Oliver Bohannon - DOB: 17 Apr 1953, Ohio
John David Bohannon - DOB: 10 Apr 1954, Ohio
Lois Marie Bohannon - DOB: 12 Apr 1955, Ohio
Herman Wilson Bohannonb, Jr. - DOB: 08 May 1956, Ohio
Lisa Bohannon - DOB: 1957, San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas

My reason for locating these children, now adults, is I am a child of this man and they would be my Step-siblings.
Any information will be appreciated. You may e-mail me at hljordan_00@yahoo.com. Virginia Bohannon Jordan

The Eli Bohannon that married Elizabeth Mercer on 4 Mar 1841(Ga. Marriages 1699-1944) was in Tallapoosa County, Alabama in 1850 census with Elizabeth & children. Emilis, Lewis, & John. He was in Itawamba, Mississippi in 1860 census (listed as Eli Bohaman)with Elizabeth & children. Emeline, Louis, John, Willis, & Eli.
I do not find him or his family together in 1870 census.
Could he have left them and married Mary Ann Johnson about 1865 and was in Newton County, 1870 census, starting a new family with a young wife? Bradford, Levi, Richard, & Madora?

Nancy,

I am descended through Zachariah Bohannon and Martha "Patsey" Lancaster, you said you might have more info. on this line but I have been stuck on it for about 6 years...got to a Semira Lancaster who may/may not be Patsey's daughter, cannot determine Semira's spouse or partner...there was an indeterminate factor on whether we would be Bohannons or Lancasters...but of Semira's 2 sons, John and Zachariah, Zachariah Lancaster is my great-grandfather. I recently visited his gravesite in KY. Any info. appreciated either via email, facebook, or phone.

Best regards to my extended cousin,
Heather

Floyd Bohannon

Looking for any information on Floyd Bohannon. His mother was Eliza Jennie (Cox) Bohannon. Jennie was born in 1862 in Bodcaw, Arkansas and died in 1931 in Hope, Arkansas. Jennie was married three times, first to John McMillen, then to a Bohannon, and third time to John Matney. Floyd had two McMillen 1/2 brothers (George Henry and Mack Albert) and a McMillen 1/2 sister (Emma) and a Matney 1/2 sister (Lillie Mae). George is my husband's grandfather. We have a photo with Jennie and her sons Floyd Bohannon and Mack McMillen and her daughter Lillie Matney. George was born in 1885, Mack was born in 1888, Emma was born in 1887, and Lillie in 1897. According to the 1910 census in Lamar County, Texas, Floyd was 15 years old, which would make his birth date either 1894 or 1895. Evidently Jennie at some point moved to Texas, but was back in Arkansas before her death.
I am related to John Bohannon who married Mary Peel in Calloway County, Kentucky. My great great grandmother Rebecca A. was their daughter. They lived in the part of Calloway County that became Marshall County. The other researcher I have seen posted said they lived in the Brewers Community and the Soldier Creek Community of Marshall County. He was living near William and Lewis Bohannon. He thinks John was born about 1812. John moved to Livingston County and died there in 1859. His widow, Mary, can be found with her children in Marshall County on the 1860 Census. My great great grandmother, Rebecca A, married a man, Thomas Dukes, from Livingston County. After he died she eventually ended up in Union County, Illinois. I do know 2 of her daughters, Zadie and Eva, married men from Illinois. On the 1900 Census, R.A. Dukes, my great great grandmother, said her father was born in Georgia.

I don't know if you will find members of your family here, but the BEST resource for Bohannon family genealogy is that of Charlie Cook and his associates. The GEDCOM file for the descendants of Duncan Bohannon contains some 88k names, all or most of which have been professionally researched.

You can find the information here: http://kueber.us/

Be sure to also check out the work of William Scroggins: http://wgscroggins.kueber.us/

Hope this helps.

Dan
2/2/09
This past weekend we found the grave of a Young Bohannon (middle initial probably I) on our property. His death is dated September 17, 1823. So far we have found nothing about him but are still searching.

Duncan Bohanon and Cecily Collmore

I am descended from Duncan and Cecily and am looking for any info and sources on either of them before coming to Barbados. I have three references to Cecily having come from either Scotland, Barbados or Nimba, West Africa. The last one is most intriguing. I've read where Duncan was a slave owner. He must have been because I read somewhere that he owned over 300 acres in Virginia in the mid 1600's. I found a Bohanon community on the Gloucester County, VA map on Mapquest.

Can anyone out there enlighten me on this? I've looked everywhere for info on this that I can get to by computer.

Bohannon Gang - Walter Bohannon in Dalton, GA

Need information on this gang:

The North Georgia Citizen--Thursday Sept 2, 1897
CAR THIEVES CAUGHT-
-Bold Band of Railway Robbers put Under Arrest The Trial was an exciting one
James Harris Turns State's Evidence and Gives away Their Schemes, Bohannon was Chief
The entire city was thrown into intense excitement last Thursday night over the arrest, by detective Tom Hanie and the local police, of a gang of car thieves which have for years operated their plans and schemes in and around Dalton without detection.
Walter Bohannon, Tom Kinnamon, Ben Pierce, Sam Painter and Ed Morris were all quietly taken before they knew that they were suspicioned and placed in the county jail to await preliminary trial before Justices Freeman and Lowry Saturday. It has been suspected for several years past that cars belonging to the Southern Railway were being rifled by burglars. Therefore Hanie and Connally, two of the best railroad detective in the South, were put upon the case to cooperate with ex-policeman Jim Harris in catching up with the thieves.
Harris has for a numbers years belonged to the band, but was influenced by the Southern Railway to play the traitor to his old comrades, and on the very night they were detected he worked with them and gave all clues to the police.
The hearing Saturday was one of great interest. Hundreds packed the court room, and the cool, calm nerve of the prisoners made them more heroes than criminals in the eyes of the audience.
Co.s Sam Maddox, Frank Shumate, J.A. Glenn and Judge Dorsey, of Atlanta, conducted the prosecution, while Jones, Martin and Jones were the attorneys in all the cases.
The evidence of Jim Harris and Tom Kinnamon, both of whom betrayed their gang, was taken as evidence in all the cased, and bonds were fixed accordingly. For Bohannon $1,250 each in two cases, and for the rest $200 for each case. In testimony Jim Harris said: "The first time I knew anything about car breaking on the Southern was over ten years ago, and so far as I know it has been going on ever since. I have been connected with the gang as a thief for some time and have made frequent visits up the road with them. The plan of the robberies have been this way: Bohhanon would go up to the coal chute just this side of Varnells and when the midnight freight stopped for coal and water he would spot a car full of merchandise, break the seal and get in the car. A certain spot agreed on before hand, generally near the rock bridge just north of town, he would pitch out tobacco, clothing, coffee or anything he could find in the car, and Painter, Pierce, Kinnamon and myself would be there ready to haul the goods to Bohannon's house to store it away until he could sell it. We made numbers of trips without being caught."
Harris acknowledge himself a rascal with as much coolness as if he had been speaking of the weather and answered the sharp examination of Col. Jones without wincing. Bohannon, Painter and Pierce were taken Monday morning to Fulton county jail for safe keeping until October court.
Bohannon is a man of strong personal magnetism, and has many friends who would have aided his escape had they left him here. What became of the stolen goods is a question that will come up in the superior court and a sensation may be the result.
