I have two original studio photographs of “Ella Bohlman”, which I would like to get back to family members. Photo of Ella as an infant in a christening gown, was taken in about 1905-1906, and she looks to be about a year old.

The photo of Ella at what appears to be a graduation, was taken probably about 1920, and she looks to be about age 15-18. She is dressed in white, holding a certificate of some type.

I found an Ella Bohlman, age 15 in the 1920 census of Herman (Sheboygan Co.) WI, daughter of Charles and Emma Bohlman.

Email me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Ella Bohlman.

Hi Kara, Close, but no cigar. My Sophie Bohlman was born in NY, 1854 the daughter of Henry (Baden - 1821) and Sophie (?) Bohlman (Baden - 1819). Sophie (1854) married my greatgrandfather, John Stroh (Bavaria? 1854). The only connection I see is if your Sophie were related to Henry. My only connection to "Hanover" is a Charlotte who was from Hanover and married Nicholas Stroh, dob 1821. In the US there was a strong connection between Bohlman and Stroh. I suspect it also existed in Germany. Anything else...e-mail me.
Best wishes. Gary.

I don't think that this is the same one. My grandfather was born in 1849 and died in 1923. He married Bertha Grundmann in 1878 and lived the rest of their lives in Thompson, ND. They had 12 children, my father was the youngest and he was born in 1902. I know that there is also Bohlmans living in the Bemidji Mn area but have been unable to find a connection there either.

I haven't found a Louisa Bohlmann in my line, but my ggrandfather was also born in Copake, NY, so there may be a connection somewhere. My information is Christian Bohlmann married Caroline Paget and arrived in this country about 1846. They had 5 children: F. Augustus (1843), Hannah (1845), Caroline (1847 in NY City), John (1849 in Canaan,NY), and Edward P. (1856 in Copake, NY). The family shows up in the 1850 census in Canaan, and in the 1870 census in Pittsfield. I haven't found the 1860 census which may find them all in Copake. Let me know if you find anything.
Definitely sounds like a math. I have not been able to find the parents of F. Christian BOHLMANN. According to Dorothy Caroline (PAGET) BOHLMANN’s death certificate, her mother was Mary (BUCK). F. Christian and Dorothy had 5 children (that I know of), one of which was great-great-grandmother, Hannah (BOHLMANN) HAYN. One of her brothers was named Edward. Hannah and her husband Hermann HAYN had a child named Ernest. He had a daughter Gladys (HAYN) WALTERS, who was my grandmother. Somehow we should get together to exchange information. I now live in Michigan, but still have relatives in Massachusetts, including Pittsfield.
