In her leisure time, Estella loved dancing, listening to good music, reading, fishing and traveling.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Al in 1975; one brother, Ralph Bohlmann and his wife, LaVerne; brother-in-law, Truman Ault; and sister-in-law, Vernet Bohlmann. Survivors include three brothers, Victor; Edwin and his wife, Lenora; and Orville and his wife, Clara; one sister, Leola; many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10 A..M., Friday, December 19, 2008, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. Rev. David Loeschen officiated the services and graveside rites at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Hanover Township, Charter Oak, Iowa. Organist Dianne Furne provided accompaniment for congregational hymns, "Stand Up, Stand Up For Jesus", "I Am Trusting Thee, Lord Jesus", "Abide, O Dearest Jesus" and "God Be With You Till We Meet Again." Honorary pallbearers were: Gailen Meseck, Mark Johnson and Chad Langenfeld. Those serving as pallbearers were: Randy Bohlmann, Jon Ault, Joel Bohlmann, Blaine Bohlmann, Aaron Johnson and Nathan Johnson. The family invited everyone to return to the church and join them for fellowship and lunch served by the Women's Guild. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
My great grandmother was Rebecca Hustedt and was sent over to the US by her parents, but we would like to know why. Her mother was also Rebecca Hustedt but we cant find out who the father of the Rebecca Neve is. On her baptism certificate is has two names, Didrick Hainrik Hustedt and Margaret Fellemann, which could be Rebecca Hustedts parents or Rebecca Neve grandparents. If you know of any other information it would be greatly appreciated. My grandmother would really like to know as she is the last living child of Rebecca (Hustedt) Neve.

This is wonderful! I am not sure how much info to put on this list. I would prefer off the list. Marie Gesine Hustedt married Oct 20, 1912 before they left Germany. I have much! information from that point forwards but little going backwards. Fred/Fredrich Heinrich Wolf had family that lived in Schwarme a few generations from one of my emails from a person in the area. I would love to share information with you. Please include the connection to the Wolf/Hustedt family. Fred was a son of Heinrich Wolf. Heinrich and John were brothers. John was my grandfather. Love to hear from you. DB

I remember my mother mentioning a Steinke but it could be a common name. I am looking for Wolf family that came from Schwarme, Hannover province, Germany. I don't know how big the town was but I believe they were farmers. I would be interested in hearing how you researched the Schwarme area. DB

I, too, am looking for ancestors from Schwarme, Hanover. They are the Heinrich and John Wolf family that probably were farmers. Heinrich came to the US a couple of times but went back to Schwarme. The name, Huste/Hustedt, is entwined in the Wolf family too. Fred Wolf married Marie Hustedt in 1912. Could there be a connection? I have additional info. I would love to hear about where you have researched for Schwarme family. DB

I think without proof that Jacob Klohr, who died at Vicksburg, Miss.in 1863,was Louis Klohr's father (my grandfather). I think he then lived in the Christoph Grossmann household, being his guardian. Louis Klohr married in 1902 to Angie Casey, had 4 children. From 1910 to 1912 his whole family died. In 1913 Louis Klohr married my grandmother,Daisy Dean Foster.

Re: Family-search

Many Bohlmann families are from the area known as the Kingdom of Hanover or now lower-saxony in norther Germany. This area includes Bremen which has been a thriving port for a very long time. While many Bohlmann families come from towns south of Bremen (like Schwarme where they have records of Bohlmanns back to the 1500's as farmers, there are also church records from the 1600's in Bremen that include a few Bohlmann families too. It would not be difficult to imagine a man living in Bremen becoming a sailor or during one of the periods of emmigration (1840 to 1900) taking a ship that eventually ended its voyage in Argentina. Bohlmann does not have a strict German translation but one story is that the name was originally the Bold in the saxon language given to a foot soldier mercenary who organized a counter atack to win a battle that had been initially lost, besides the name he was given a grant of land where he lived and a shield but no title. This was said to have happened in the 1300's. The ending mann was routinely tacked on to most northern german and Dutch names as Mr. might be used today. If you are like me The Bold Man fits well and is a satisfying if not perfectly documented geneology. Best regards to a distant relative!

Alfred migrated to Australia around 1914. Any information would be appreciated.
Dear Mary Ann,
Sorry it has taken me this long to discover you had sent me a message on July 29th. I would be very much interested in any information you could share with me in regard to my great grandfather, Jacob Klohr, who came from the area of Gimmeldingen, Germany and settled near New Hanover, IL.where he married Margaret Mueller Bohlmann. My grandfather's name was George Klohr who married Caroline Stumpf and my father's name is Herman Klohr. I have never been able to find out Jacob Klohr's parents name as well as if he had any brothers or sisters. I believe he came over from Germany by himself and probably landed in New Orleans. Jacob's birthdate was March 15, 1824. Jacob and Margaret were married in Millstadt, IL. on Dec. 9, 1855. My grandfather, George Klohr and his wife Caroline had 12 children. I have just recently become interested in tracing my relatives. My husband, Lee, and I reside in Sparta, IL. We're retired and have 4 children. Dr. Lori Trost Siemers, a dentist, in Columbia, IL., Dr. John Trost, a surgeon in Springfield, IL.,Amy Trost McClure, an interior design major and lives in Wildwood, Mo., and Mark Trost, a pilot for Delta Airlines who resides in Millstadt, IL. Hoping to hear from you soon, and I will try to check my message board more often. Shirley Klohr Trost.,

Connie-

Margaret Mueller Bohlmann and August Bohlmann had three daughters before August's death in 1850. Their second daughter is listed as Amelia in the 1850 census, but as Ingel in the 1860 census (despite the name difference, the birthdates are the same). After comparing notes with Walt Harfmann, we feel pretty confident that Amelia and Ingel (or Engel, Engeline, Angeline, depending on the source) are the same person- one name is her first name or Christian name, the other name is her more common or middle name.

Jim Mizouni
