Hello, Michael. I've done extensive research on the Bohmbach name, and I believe that a branch of the Minnesota family did move to Massachusetts. You can check out http://www.minnesotacousins.com/ and click on the Bohmbach link to read some of what I've found. I am happy to answer any questions you have. Regards, Loren.

Hello,
Am looking for information on the parents of my great grandmother, Marie Meyer. Was told her parents were Christian Heinrich Meyer and Ann Margrete Boh (Anna Margaretha). Believe Boh might have been shorted from Bohmback.
Marie married Heinrich Maximilian Friedrich "Max" Gerlach when she was 17 and "Max" was 31 on Oct. 4, 1849. According to the 1870 census of Wisconsin, Milwaukee she was born in Holstein, Germany. Another record states she was born Aug. 30, 1832 in Frederikstad Slesvig, Denmark.
Heinrich immigrated to Wisconsin in 1844. He was born in Altman, Germany, Bavaria on Jan. 5, 1818.
Have the history of this couple with their children up until their deaths and burial in Forest Home Cemetery in Milwaukee.

Hans-Werner Meyer

A message posted 17 Nov 2000 by Hans-Werner Meyer of Muenster/Westfalia on the Bohmbach-L list states that he is looking for the family of Anna Margareta Bohnenberg (born c1770 in Brest or Ahlerstedt) who married Jürgen Heinrich Meyer (born 4 Feb 1760 in Nenndorf/Hittfeld, today Rosengarten). They were his 2nd great-grandparents on his father's side, and they farmed in Nenndorf/Hittfeld while several of their sons became shoemakers in the areas of Hittfeld, Moisburg, Bargstedt, Buxtehude, and Stade. Well, this couple seems to be listed as married in the Stade St. Wilhadi church books:

23. September 1787
Jürgen Hinrich Meyer: Joachim Meyer zu Niendorf im ...Harburg ehel. Sohn und Jungfer
Anna Margaretha Bohnbarg: Johann Bohnbargs in Agathenburg ehe!. Tochter

This seems to point to Anna Margaretha's parents being my very own Johann Christian Bohnbarg and Maria Cordes, as mentioned earlier. The e-mail address on the posting was no longer valid in Nov 2004. Another posting was made by Hannas Meyer of Muenster to GEN-DE-L on 30 Jul 2004 with the same information. The address listed there only a few months before was also no longer valid. I believe these were posted by the same person, and I'd like Hans-Werner Meyer to please contact me to discuss this. It appears that we are both descendants of the Bohnbarg/Bohnenberg/Bohmbach family in Agathenburg.
Edward and Marie Bohmbach

Hi again. I recently ran across the family of Frank Bohmbach and Christina Nibbe in Boston, MA. One of their children was Edward Bohmbach, born circa 1898 in New York State. He was a sailor according to the 1920 census. His wife was Marie from Canada, and they had a son Edward circa 1930 while living in Boston. I assume this is your family, and you can check what I found at www.minnesotacousins.com and click on the "Loren" link to see my GEDCOM.

Frank was born in New York State after the family arrived from Germany. He grew up in Minnesota, where his first child was born. Frank's father was Johann Hinrich [Henry] Bohmbach, brother to my Gr-Gr-Grandma Anna Vollmers. Henry and his parents are buried in Red Wing, MN.

I hope to hear from you soon, as I am very interested in filling out this line.

Thanks,
Loren

I wish to contact someone having access to photos of Diedrich Bohmbach b. 1822, Henry Bohmbach b. 1823, Louis Bohmbach b. 1835, and Frederick Bohmbach b. 1843. Henry and Louis are buried at St. John's Cemetery in Red Wing, Minnesota. Frederick is buried at Mill Springs National Cemetery in Kentucky. Diedrich died in Germany. They were sons of Johann Bohmbach and Anna Höper. I would also like a photo of Johann. I already have one of Anna. Thanks.

Thank you for responding to my post. I would love to know more about your family. I don't remember what I posted on the board and I'm having trouble accessing it. All that I know is that my grandfather Edward, originally came from the New York area and died in 1942. He had five children, 3 sons and 2 daughters. I am a daughter of his son, Robert. I was wondering exactly how we are related with you people in Minnesota. If you know the connection, let me know.

My grandfather was Edward Charles Bohmbach. I believe he was born in Upstate New York in the late 1800's and eventually settled in Massachusetts. He died of pneumonia in 1942. I know his parents came from Germany, but I have no idea where they originally came from. I was wondering if anyone had any infomation on the Bohmbach name.
