Yes she did work at the IMC at Meridian Middle School. William was her father-in-law. Thank you for replying.

Of course now I'm curious if I know you, but you would have recognized my name, so logically I don't. Since I'm looking for info on my grandparents I am using my real name, otherwise I wouldn't! Again, thank you. My mother is very frail and over 80 so she wouldn't remember anyone's name from that long ago.

I have 4 antique photos of an Anna Bhone (as it is spelled on the back) of various ages growing up, with 3 of the studios being in Chicago Illinois. I don't know if she was friend or relative but somehow connects to my gg grandmother who was German and has surnames CORDES FINK CARLETON LUEBKIN on her tree. She might be of the right age for your Anna. Anyone with an Anna Bohne of Illinois connection please write me.

My grandfather was Lewis E Bohne. He came over as a 10 year old boy from Germany(Prussia?) Other relatives listed on the manifest with him and their ages were: Henry age 60 (we think his uncle), Ann D. age 32, Ann age one and a half, Johan (sp) male age 30, and Herman age 28. Fathers and sons often had the same names--just reversed--not sure how all of these folks connected together. Relatives in California Nebraska--and there is a connection in Ohio in some way. It seems as if he may have been orphaned as no record of parents. Bohnes owned ground in Beardstown . He made a trip in the 1850's to the California gold fields. He earned money as a tailor while not mining.
Please e-mail me lobo1995@msn.com

Re: Bohne connection, maybe Cologne Germany
Don't know if there is any connnection...
We have two Ann Bohne's on a ship's manifest from 1834--Port of Bremen, Germany to New York, New York. Ann D is listed as 32 inh 1834--another Ann listed as one and a half years old. Not sure if Ann D. was married into the family or a daughter of a Bohne. My g. grandfather (Lewis A. Bohne--age 10--now spelled Baney) was also on the ship's manifest. others listed: Henry--age 60, Johan (John?)-- male age 30, Herman--age 28. All but Henry was listed as farmers--headed to Illinois, but we ae sure there is a Ohio connection--probably Kentucky--and later California. My g. grandfatehr marreid Fannie E. Sherrill. My grandfather's name was Harry--my dad's is Lewis E Baney(still lving--born in 1917) Name later spelled Boehne--reasons why based on phonetic spelling of the name on the manifest--Bohne--with the German umlaut over the "o"--translates to Boehne in English. The names Henry Herman and Herman Henry--father son stuff--is what makes it more interesting. Do you have any hard facts? bibles, certificates, land, immigration data, death, marriage or other? Letters? I have quite a bit with reference to H. H. Boehne--my grandfather's cousin. Several are buried in Illinois.
let me know--maybe there is a connection!
Marsha Baney post and/or email me at lobo1995@msn.com

I am trying to find information on a Fairy Fern Bohne, father:Fillmore L. Bohne, mother:Fern sisters:Voletta and Ursel. Fairy married my grandfather Thornton William Wissore somewhere around 1939 and died I believe in 1941. We know they were married but we don't know any other information. All the information says that she was born in Missouri and I found her in the 1930 census as an 11 year old. But that is the last information we can find. We would like to know more about her being she was married to my grandfather. If someone can help, my mother and I would be grateful.

Thank you for your help!!!
Kimberly Fowler

Bohne Family History

I am beginning a search for the Bohne family from Germany, Heidelberg I think. My grandfather is Karl Rolf Bohne born January 9, 1906. He married my grandmother Frieda Lunardi and came to New York (Long Island) in the 1930's. They had three children, Ralph, Karl and my father Henry born November 30th, 1939. The story is that he was orphaned during WW1 and I know nothing about his siblings or parents. Does anyone have him in their family tree? I know its not much to go on, but worth a try. Thanks.

Shirley,
My great-great-grandfather came from Hanover, Germany. He was born in 1811. He married Anna Elizabeth Koenig, who was born between 1811-1815. They had a son, Heinrich, Jr., who married Maria Theresia Schweer. The men were tailors by profession. Henry, Jr. and Theresia had three children: Anna Margaret, Catherine Johanna, and Charles Robert. Catherine was my grandmother. The Bohnes lived in Newport most of their lives, but I know that Theresia died in childbirth in Ohio and Henry Jr. died of consumption in Ohio.

Bohne connection, maybe Cologne Germany

I am searching for any information concerning my Great Grandmother or her Daughter who came to England from Germany. My Great Grandmother's married name was Anna Marie or Anna Maria Bohne. Her maiden name may have been Braun (not sure of exact spellings). She was married to a German soldier who was killed in the first world war. I know of one daugher, my Grandmother, Sidonia Anna Marie Bohne born somewhere around 1915. After moving to England my Grandmother lived in Soho and married a Funnell, later moving to Southampton. I believe we still have family in Cologne, the names Hubert and Anna or Anna Maria are familiar. Would be interested to hear from anyone with information/connection with this name

I don't see a connection as per any of the dates but it is so ironic that all these names are names of many of my ancestors. Ann Elisabeth was the name of a grandmother and an aunt. Theresa was the name of a grandmother and my mom. Johanne was the name of a grandfather and uncle. Catherine and Charles were the names of 2 of my mothers siblings. And Henry was my brothers name. It is so odd also that these people were born and lived in the Covington and Ludlow, Ky area which is very near Newport. Also the older ones lived and were born in Hamilton county which is part of the Cincinnati, Ohio area. I do know that my grandfather John Bohn born Sept 15, 1881 had brothers in the area. But the older ones are deceased and we don't know their names. We may find a connection some day. John Bohn got married at the St Augustine church in Cinci, Ohio in 1905. Anything sound familiar? Good luck with your search. S D

Hi Nancy,
I guess the fact that our ancestors had three and four names makes it more confusing. The Henry on the ship Orient's manifest, is most likely Gerd Heinrich on the church records I received from Ostercappeln. Herman is Hermann Heinrich and so forth. The birth date is the same for Herman on both. I'm sure you already know that the first name was seldom used and the middle name is what they went by often. I'm still not sure what the "A" stood for as the middle initial for my gr. grandfather. To make it tougher in my case, he changed his name by the time he was married in 1869 and is buried as LEWIS A. BANEY. Although the females are listed on the manifest as Ann, I don't think that was the important name--just given when they got on board. No clue why Lewis is the only one of our BOHNE people who changed it to BANEY.Mystery! Thanks for your reply--and happy hunting to you too!
Marsha

Hello,
Are you sure this was Ludwig's first time in the United States? Do you know his age? I am researching my gr. grandfather --Ludwig Bohne (Lewis or Louis in America) who came as a 10 year old boy on the Ship Orient --to New York-October 2, 1834. It is quite likely that he went back to Germany at some point, and then returned to the US. He was born sometime between 1824 and 1828. 5 other Bohne family members came with him--he appears to have been orphaned. Other Bohne family members: Henry, John H. or A., Ann D., Ann, and Herman. Herman Henry and family were from the Ort Ostercappeln. Please contact me at your convenience.
Best Regards,
Marsha
lobo1995@msn.com

My wife is a descendant of Johann Diel BOHN/BOHNE b.1711, Germany and imigrated to America in 1741.

I am a Army Chaplain stationed in Germany.

I was reminded by another researcher that Nellie (Woods) Whedon in her book on Johann Diel Bohne/Bohn in 1945 wrote: "The seat of the German Boone family is said to have been in Palatinat Province of Pfalz, near the village of Obermoscehl"

I currently live about 30 minutes from there and plan to go and visit that location next weekend. I did some checking and there is no one with the Bohn/Bohne last name living there now. Of course Johann left there almost 300 years ago and things do change. If anyone has any actual evidence that the family came from this area, I would appreciate it. At this point all I have to support that the family came from there is those few words written in 1945.
