Hello Cousin!

You and I would be related through Jan and Marianna Pekrol. This was John Pekrol's parents. My grandfather was Frank Pekrol; John's brother.

I'm not sure what you know of the family before John and Catherine. Catherine was born in Hoszow, Galicia. This was in Poland. It was in the Grand Duchy of Krakow, or something like that. It was alternately Russian, Polish, etc....

I have some information on Catherine, and a photo of she and John, but not a great deal more. What do you currently have? Any photos? Stories? Documents?

Do you have any information on JOhn's parents? I have photos of them as well.

Just give me an idea of how to help!

Santo

His father and mother were John Pekrol Born 1891, and Katherine or Catherine Pekrol (Homolka) born 1892. I find it interesting that they were all in Newark, NJ like your Pekrols.

I remember Great uncle Aaron and Jimmie as they came to Van Wert, Ohio to visit Grandma and Grandpa on the farm several times. As a teenager, we took Grandma to near Baltimore to visit with Uncle Jimmie and all the relatives, many of whom are from surrounding York, Pa. I have Grandma's baptism certifcate dated June 8th., 1880 and signed by Pastor Giesz naming Grandpa Bohr and Luretta Behny as sponsors. Hope this helps.
I attempted to send you an email. I too have Pekrol ancestry. In fact, My Grandfather Frank Pekrol (Franz Pekruhl as a six month old on the ship's registry) had a brother Anton who arrived with him, his mother Marianna (Mary) and brother Stanislav (Steve) in 1903. Their father Jan or Johann Pekrol arrived earlier. Anton was born in 1895, I believe. They all lived in Newark, New Jersey. I believe Anton was called Anthony and/or Tony by his family. He died young on the job, I was told. I would love to talk to you!

I'm very new to this stuff, but I do know that I am a sixth-generation Bohr in the U.S., going back to Baden, Germany in the mid to late-19th century. To the best of my knowledge, Nicholas Bohr went from Baden to Iowa, and I trace my paternal lineage through Nicholas Jr. and Nicholas III, then Dorvin "Kelly" Bohr (whose name is misspelled as Darvin in the 1930 U.S. Census).

J.

I don't believe the Kentucky Bohrs were connected to the Pennsylvania Bohrs. The Bohrs of Pennsylvania immigrated into Philadelphia in 1747. But many later Bohrs immigrated to America in the 1800's-mid-1800s and by that time most of them were coming into New York City harbor. A Nicholas Bohr went to Texas and founded a large family there, a Charles and Anton went to Iowa to mine in the silver mines and Anton had a large family of Bohrs there. A Mathias showed up in Michigan, many of his descendants are in that area and in Wisconsin. As far as I can tell, none are related to our originial Bohrs who immigrated into Pennsylvania.

Burkhardt Bohr - Pennsylvania

Researching the Bohr family of Lebanon/Lancaster/Schuylkill counties of Pennslvania - would especially like more information on Burkhardt Bohr who was a resident of Pine Grove, Lebanon Co. for many years. Burkhardt immigrated with the Bohr family in 1749 and was married to Lucia Henrietta Bartholuss in 1763 by Rev. Casper Stoever. Burkhardt was in the Pennsylvania Militia during the Revolutionary War and may have been given land in Pine Grove as payment for his services. Burkhardt appeared on most of the tax records there from 1772 to 1785. He died in 1815 and is believed buried in Jacob's Church cemetery.

Have found only two children attributed to Burkhardt and Lucia: Elizabeth Bohr born abt 1762, and Johanne Matthias Bohr, born May 1765.
The Bohr families were connected to many of the Lebanon/Lancaster/Dauphin/Schuylkill county families - Stahl, Stein, Felty, Zimmerman, Schnug, Kreiser, Wolfe, Rehrer, Deichert, Holtzman, Hess, and others.

Have not been able to find a will for Burkhardt. Any information on the Bohr family of Pine Grove greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You have sent me digging to reply to this message! I ended up receiving information, off-line, from two gentlemen who had been searching the family for many years. I am sure that you are aware that some of the 'east of the River' families moved 'west of the River' ... and so are in Cumberland and then Bedford Counties towards the end of the 1700s.

Johann Michael Boor/Bohr died in 1787 leaving a will in the courthouse in Carlisle ... which I have not seen. I have not done a lot of work on the Bohr family, as I was concentrating on the Burkholder side of the pair.

Looking for info on Joseph BOHR & Clara Reichel GER>KY>St. Louis 1843-1870?

I'm looking for any information someone may have for Joseph Bohr, who was born abt 1843 in Baden, Germany (according to 1870 census for St. Louis, MO, ward 9, pg. 381).

Joseph married Clara REICHEL on 30 Mar 1869 in Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY. The surety on the marriage bond was George Schisler, witnesses for the bond and the marriage license were Nicholas Bohr and Henry Martin.

Joseph and Clara had a son - Thomas - born abt. July 1869 (according to the 1870 census, Thomas' age was listed as 11/12).

I'm not sure why Joseph moved from Louisville, KY to St. Louis, MO. It might have something to do with the short time span between his marriage to Clara and the birth of their 1st child (looks like Clara might have been 5 months pregnant when they wed). Joseph's occupation is listed as a "Driver" in the Edwards' Official Louisville City Directory, 1869 living at 246 W Market St.

I can find no information for Joseph, Clara or Thomas after the 1870 St. Louis census entry. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris Breen

Mieczyslaw died in 1985 and Jozef died in 2005.
Family of my grandmothers lived in small village Skudzawy i central of Polnad, 10 km from town called Rypin.
I dont know if this is somhowe connected with your family but maybe yes, because my grand grandmother Weronika told me many years ago about her family who emigrate to U.S.

Hi Chris, I am researching my husband's niece's husband's line, which is Bohr.

His line goes Theordore, Albert, George, Thomas. Thomas is shown married to a Rachael in the 1870 Louisville, KY census, with a birthplace of Bavaria, Bayern. In the 1880 census, she is listed as Regina. Looking at the oldest son, George, they immigrated before 1859. Have you checked German's to America to see if you can find when he actually came to the US? Where did you get the 1840 year?

Right now I just have census info, and some death record, and directory stuff. It looks like they were Coopers and Saddle people. They also appear to be Catholic.

I will share what I have.

Marlene

I don't go any further back than 1870 with census records, but I do have many City Directory listings, Mortuary Record and Death Certificate info. One of their children, Anna, married a John Bott, son of a Sebastian Bott. Both of them were brewers. I have located the burial sites of Thomas and Regina Bohr, sons George, John (unmarked) and Charles (unmarked), and daughter Anna (buried with husband John Bott) and John Bott's parents and most of his siblings.

I'd love to have info. on the Bohr's prior to 1870 and before they moved to Louisville, apparently during the 1860's.

MERRY CHRISTMAS-Mark Simmons

In case you didn't get my earlier message,
My earliest census record on Thomas Bohr is from the 1870 census. I'd love to have earlier info. if you have it.
I have Kentucky Census, Louisville City Directory, Death Certificate, Mortuary Record, and some marriage info. on Thomas Bohr, his children. Also info. on her husband John Bott and his parents Sebastian and Theresa Bott and their children.

I also know the locations of many of their tombstones including Thomas and Regina Bohr, sons George, John (unmarked) and Charles (unmarked), Sebastian and Theresa Bott and children John (with wife Anna Bohr), Frank, George, Sebastian Bott, Jr. and Lizzie.

Merry Christmas-MARK SIMMONS

I don't have the specific info. you requested, but one of my great-grandmother's maiden names was Anna Bohr, who married a John Bott on May 26, 1886 in Louisville, Ky. I have info. on many of her siblings. She died on Feb. 13, 1919.
I have located the tombstones of both her, her husband John Bott, her father Thomas Bohr and wife Regina, John's father Sebastian Bott, and many of the children of both Sebastian Botth and Thomas Bohr
.
The earliest census record that i could find in Louisville on Thomas and his family is in the 1870 Ky. Census, but it lists his wife's name as Rachel. Whether or not this is a mistake or that she died and he remarried I do not know. Regina is listed as his wife in the 1880 census.

I'd love to have earlier information on Thomas Bohr.

I enjoy researching their occupations and addresses throughout their lives in the city directory, so I have much information on all of these people from the Louisville City Directory.

My father's mother's maiden name was Bott. Why my father was aware of much more about the Bott side of his mother's family than the Bohr side becomes apparent when one learns the cause of death of many of Anna (Bohr) Bott's siblings.

Merry Christmas-MARK SIMMONS

I am trying to track down information about three brothers; William, Frederick and Henry, who came over to the US at around 1910 or so. (William is my Great Grandfather).

Fred Endert is the oldest (do not know when he was born -maybe 1878?) and he married Emma Kretschmer and their children's names are Frieda, Esther, Evelyn, Genevieve, Ruth, Fred and Edward - I am told they all live in California.

William Endert (6/27/1887 - 9/6/1960), he married Ida Thiem Pekrol (9/18/1879 - 11/8/1963)and they had one son together (Harold"my grandfather") - Ida was married to a Julius Pekrol before William and she had 5 children by him (Alma, Julius, Oswald, Gertrude and a baby who died). William lived in Detroit and built huge subdivisions.

Henry Endert was the youngest and married Edith, they had no children.

I am looking for ANY information to link of us together AND for previous information of Germany/Russia/Poland before they came over to the US... Its all "showded" in mystery and all the elders have mostly died and took whatever was so "important" to their grave and the ones left alive will not speak of any of whatever it is.... ???

Please email me at : Jason@Broder13.com with any information you may have.

Thank You,
Jason Endert

Marlene,
My line goes Joanne Marie Bohr (my mother) to Leo Joseph Bohr to George N. Bohr, Sr., to Thomas Bohr. Looks like your husband's niece's husband is my second cousin. My research goes into Albert Bohr's & Ada Cunningham's children, but I do not have any info on Theodore except his birthdate (09-Feb-1929).

The headstone for Thomas & Regina shows her name as Maria Regina Bohr (30 Jul 1832 - 15 Jun 1903).
The 1900 Census for Jefferson Co., KY. (pg 226A, ED 118, Ward 11) shows Regina enumerated as Rachel Board, head of household, living with 3 sons - Thomas, Joseph, and Charlie (with that name variation, I had a tough time finding it). Two of the columns in the 1900 census indicate the year of immigration and # of years in the U.S. Regina/Rachel shows that she immigrated in 1840 and has been in the U.S. for 60 years. It does not show if she submitted her naturalization papers.

I haven't yet started any in depth research overseas yet.

The Bohr's were heavy into the saddle industry. George Sr. was owner/preseident of Bohr Harness Company until his death (13-Nov-1917). Most of the family was involved in the industry from Thomas through to George Sr. After George Sr. passed away, The family started branching out to other businesses and cities/states.

I'd be willing to exchange research files. You can reach me via e-mail at breenfamilytree@aol.com.

Rgds,
Chris
According to family records, the Bohr family came from Buschdorf, Trier, and possibly Tinnsdorf, Germany. Buschdorf is not far from Trier and is in the western part of Germany, close to France and Luxembourg. According to a home page belonging to Dennis Kramer, he had some Bohr relations. Although few ancestors of the Kramers originated from the Bohr family, the histories of a number of interesting persons exist, e.g. an accused witch whose house was burned, a shepherd with two wives, an artisan sculptor in military exile, and an officer in the Royal Alsace Regiment.
I can’t find a way to contact Mr. Kramer yet, but if anyone is able to find out more about this information, please let us all know.
Oral family history says that Nicholas and Catherine Bohr left Germany (Prussia) and emigrated to the U.S. in 1882/83 after a son died while in military service in the Prussian army. The wars at that time were frequent and were being waged by the Ottoman Empire.
