I am at a dead end. George J or P Boileau was my grandfather. He immigrated about 1900. He married Ella Julia Barna and they lived in Itasca and Cass Counties of Minnesota. He died in the 1930s of heart disease. I believe he was born in Quebec. His father may have moved to Kenora later on and remarried. If any one can help I would greatly appreciate it. He also had a nephew that lived in Minneapolis. He went by Bud Boileau.

Rebecca Boileau, b.c. 1805-1815 Philadelphia

After 20 years I finally found a surname for Rebecca--it is Boileau. She was born somewhere around 1805-1815 in Pennsylvania. By 1836 she was married to John Ascough (As-coo), an English-born blacksmith. In 1850 they were in the Northern Liberties part of the city, 1860 home was near Frankford & Adams, 1870 Rebecca lived at 124 Laurel. She died Jan 18, 1872 in Philadelphia.
She named her children Mary Elizabeth, George, John, Rebecca, Lewis/Louis, Charles, and Morris/Maurice.
The IGI has a record of a Rebekah Boileau, b. 3/17/1805, Abington, Montgomery, PA, parents Isaac Billew and Ann/Nancy Bickley. I found what appears to be that Isaac on 1830 census, Mont. Co., and there is a female in their household age 20-30. But there are lots of Isaacs in the area. Anyone have any idea who my Rebecca is??

My grandfather told me we were descended from Hugonauts exiled from France a long long time ago. I have not been able to establish William henry's father and was wondering if you ever found more information about the Hatboro branch of the family.

Pierre spelled his name Bilyeu. He co founded the first sucessful colony on Statan Island. He came to New Amsterdam from Holland in the 1650's having left Lille in what is now France due to religious persecution for his Huegonaut beliefs. Some of his descendants moved on to New Jersey and then Pennsylvania. Some went North to Canada. In Pennsylvania it is said that Daniel Boileau strated using the Boileau spelling. remember in those days last names were subject to change from generation to generation or person to person. I am at work and do not have exact dates at this time. A key person in Pennsylvania was a son (I believe if memory serves) of Daniel Boileau and his name was Nathaniel Boileau. He was politically active and his house is now the Hatboro YMCA. the house was once a stop on the Underground railroad.

This is the first time I've heard anyone mention the NJ Boileaus.
I have been told 2 brothers came to the states with Lafayette. There were also Hugenots in that branch in France. I am very curious about the original 2 brothers, their names, where they were from (I'm told, Paris) and where they settled in U.S. My grandfather, James, lived in Camden, NJ, and his brother, Charles, lived in Burlington County. I would appreciate any information you may have on this branch.

Angela...I have a Paul Boileau (could he be John Paul??) born about 1853-56 we don't know where, he married Susan MCCOY who was born 1853 about 1878 and she was ill and hospitalized in Jackson Co. Missouri at the time of the 1900 census. She said she had married at aged 28 which would have been about 1875. They had 9 children, 4 were still alive in 1900. I do not know any of their names. Susan was born in St. Louis Missouri and since her family lived there, I would think they were married there also.
Any connects or hints??????

Betty Clifton (in the highlands of California)
