W. Richard Boise
SOUTH NEW BERLIN — W. Richard Boise, 90, of R.D. No.1, South New BERLIN, a longtime resident and well-known farmer, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1999, in The Hospital, Sidney.
Richard was born in Sherburne, and attended the local schools. After finishing his schooling, he went to work for his father on the family farm in Sherburne. When he was able, he purchased a farm in South New BERLIN, where he worked and resided until he sold the farm in 1957. He subsequently was employed by the South New BERLIN School District, where he drove school bus and was also head custodian. He later delivered newspapers for The Evening Sun in Norwich, and was a custodian at the Norwich Pharmacal Company and at the Chenango County Office Building in Norwich.
Richard was an outdoorsman at heart. He loved animals, and was an avid farmer, never really, in his heart, quitting farming.
Richard was born May 2, 1908, in Sherburne, he was the son of William and Helen Boise. On Nov. 4, 1933, in Sherburne, he married Irene H. Boise, who passed away on Sept. 8, 1995.
Richard is survived by his four sons, Richard Boise and wife, Dorothy, of Lexington, Ky., Robert Boise and wife, Shirley, of South New BERLIN, Warren Boise and wife, Deb, of Dahlonega, Ga., and Everett "Skip" Boise and wife, Betsy Zaharis, of Cortland. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Irene, Richard was predeceased by his four brothers, Henry Boise, John Boise, Walter Boise, and Homer Boise.
Funeral services for Richard will be held Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at 8 p.m. from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stephen Reese, pastor of the Columbus Community Church, officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Sherburne West Hill Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Saturday, from 4:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the South New BERLIN Fire Department or the South New BERLIN Rescue Squad.
