I believe Carlos Greenbush was born Stanislas Boisvert in Quebec in 1805. His baptism is recorded at La Baie du Febvre parish, Yamaska Co. His parents are listed as Etienne Boisvert and Marguerite Houde.

In the records of St Patrick's church, Hogansburg, NY is listed the marriage of Stanislaus Beauvais and Victoire Anse/Hanse. Electa Gadbois Greenbush's full maiden name was Victoire Electa Hens.

There are several baptism's which match to children of Carlos Greenbush and Josette Duquette, but the parents names are listed as Stanislaus Beauvais and Josette Ducat/

For example, I found the following transcriptions on usgenweb several years ago:

Beauvais, Adelaide b1 May 5, 1846 Hogansburg Stanislaus Beauvais Josette Ducat born May 4(?), 1846. Lived in Raquette River. Last name appears as Bovais in the original, and could be Bouvia or Bouvier

Beauvais, Edward b1 Apr. 24, 1850 Hogansburg Stanislaus Beauvais Josette Ducat born Apr. 23, 1850. May have lived at Raquette River

Beauvais, Emilie b2 June 13, 1844 St. Regis Stanislaus Beauvais Josette Ducat born June 13, 1844(sic). Father's name appears to be Beauvert, and mother's is spelled Duquette

Beauvais, Francis Xavier b2 Dec. 12, 1842 St. Regis Stanislaus Beauvais Josette Ducat born Dec. 10(?), 1842. Day of birth is hard to read

Beauvais, Jerome b1 Jul. 20, 1848 Hogansburg Stanislaus Beauvais Josette Ducat born Jul. 20(sic), 1848. May have lived at Raquette River

Beauvais, Joseph d2 June 26, 1842 St. Regis Stanislaus Beauvais Josette Ducat died June 24, 1842. No age mentioned in the record

Beauvais, Marcellan(?) m1 Oct. 12, 1851 Hogansburg Josette Jesmer

I have copies of the original records for Emilie, Francois X and Jerome. The last name is definately Boisvert and no Beauvais.

I believe the child listed as Mercy (f) in the 1850 census of Massena may have Marcellus (m) and the child listed Philomen (m) may have been Philena (f).

Susan

Hello, wasn't sure if you are still involved in tracing Boisverts but my husbands Grandfather was Arthur N Boisvert who married Albertine Plante we think both from Quebec. They had two girls in Manchester New Hampshire early 1900's. They divorced early on so we have been unable to ever find out what happened to his grandfather, whether he remarried etc. We think he was born in the 1880's. Thank you in advance for any help you can give to figure out our mystery.email: rptorelli@juno.com
At this moment, the birthplace or birthdate of Etienne De Nevers and Agnes Luosbisec are not known yet. Search has been stopped years ago. We have seen in various databases 1599 and 1600 as bithdates, and Chalon-sur-Marne as birthplace . We are contacting database managers for copies of records or at least rationales. As soon as we have a strong evidence, it will be posted on the web site of the association.

Descendants of Etienne will appreciate any info or help.

This Domithilde Boisvert is likely to be the one born on Nov 4, 1832, at Saint-François du Lac,Quebec, Canada, daughter of Hyacinthe Boisvert and Marie Séraphine Morin. She first married François Martel on Jan 30, 1855 at St-François du Lac.

I can not confirm the following as I don't have the mariage records. According to few forums, she would have married after Louis Lambert, on March 31, 1872 in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She got married a 3rd time, to John Richmond, on Jan 26, 1876, likely at La Crosse.

Do you have the exact burial date and place of Domithilde Boisvert ? If you have copies of records, it would be appreciated.

Harriet,
Boy, I sure hope you're still checking the ancestry.com site. I'm not sure, but we may be related. I'm in possession of a distant cousin's letter, family tree and copy of a photo of his Father, Grandparents & aunts & uncles. His Father was Onesime Boisvert, Mother was Irene Desneiges Messier. They were married in West Shefford P. Q. 13 or 15 Dec 1931. My cousin's name is Jean-Jacques Boisvert. Would his Father, Onesime Boisvert, be the same one you and Fay Pelleriti were discussing? Please let me know if you receive this message and if you can add any insight. Oh, my connection to Jean-Jacques is via the Messier side of the family~his Grand Father and my Great-Grandfather were brothers. Thanks much, Patty Miller-Andrews

Hello, I'm (Ron Fortier - this is my wife's account) looking for information on the Boisvert line. My grandfather, Joseph Fortier married Marianne Boisvert (Francois Boisvert & Annie Chamberland). She died in 1933 from tuberculosis. Supposedly, Marieanne was a concert pianist who played Carnegie Hall. Her line goes to Onesime and Elmire in St-Etienne-des-Gres. My information on the BOisvert ends with Onesime. Any information would be helpful.

Thank you!

Dale, the 1860 census shows both Carlos and Marcellus living in Massena, NY. After the Civil War, they both migrated to Sibley County, MN. That is when Marcellus changed his name to Greenwood but his father did not. When they lived in Quebec, the famly name was Boisvert, When they came to NY they changed it to Greenbush. The correct translation of Boisvert is "Greenwood", so I guess that is why Marcellus made the second name change.

Oh dear, I have definitely mis-replied. Same names until I got to your Marie Marguerite's last name. I'll go read the rest here before talking any more :D.

Roxanne, I am hoping you still have this email. I am not sure about who is whom as yet (would have to go back and check my pages), but Marie Marguerite DUROCHER MARCOUX was my second great grandmother. I'd love to get in touch. If you see this (or anyone else who sees this message) please contact me at genesaplenty at gmail dot com (only put it together properly, I write it this way to avoid bots). I am trying to go back on both the DUROCHER and MARCOUX families, and I have reserched MM and JB's children as well. Marie Adeline was my great grandmother. She married Alexander BATCHELOR and their daughter Mary Victoria was my paternal grandmother. I followed the BOISVERTs as well as I could too. Rose De Lima (MARCOUX) BOISVERT died and Alfred BOISVERT remarried. I know he spent time in the US, but he did return to Quebec, and his wife, Josephine, died there.
